I agree. The issue is that she blunt in the worst possible way and she has "holier than thou" attitude. It does not help that Sabherwals corner her every time pushing her into becoming a rebel.
In all the dialogues today, she did come across as someone who believed Priyanka more than Alok and she has not even see the proof yet. It is simply because Priyanka was crying. She seemed more concerned about Priyanka's situation instead of understanding the fact that this is going to tear her family apart and break her husband's heart regardless of who is the culprit. There will be ripple effects that will impact her marriage regardless of truth and results. The issue needed delicate handling.
Her reaction should have been to insist on inquiry so that whoever was wrong would be punished. If it was Priyanka, she should be made example of , If it was Alok, action should be taken. She should have also made a case that an external inquiry helped show that management was fair and willing to investigate instead of trying to push the issue under the carpet which lend more credibility to the process. She should have also said that since she has conflict of interest, she will sit this one out as head of student council and let her second-in-command take the lead. BTW I have no idea how a second year student ended up as head, normally it is a final year student.
Instead she insisted on remaining involved and side with students. She asked for external inquiry so that results cannot be tampered by BP ...almost sounded as if she was accusing him of taking sides. She had also already judged Alok guilty. She did not even seem to consider the possibility that it could either be a case of miscommunication or Priyanka could be wrong. That has to rankle with her in-laws.
I have to wonder how she would have reacted if this was indeed Raja 's case and she found out that her parents were a party to hiding a murder attempt and harassment. In other words if her entire family was guilty of committing and hiding a crime. Would she still talk right and wrong with same clarity?
Agree with you. Even I felt that Anokhi could have put her points across in a way which would show Shaurya that she is also worried about the family and institution's reputation. She is also a part of both. But Anokhi had also wanted to discuss this with Shaurya first and was trying from yesterday but Shaurya did not even pick her calls.
Shaurya I felt handled the matter in a mature way. He did not pick any sides and also asked the correct questions to Alok. I also wanted to know how Anokhi would have reacted if Raja's truth came out. Of course she would support the truth only always but won't she be disturbed that her family was part of a crime. Sadly we would never know Anokhi's exact reaction to this situation.

Everything was realistic and everyone was within character. I also completely got the disbelief of the family over the accusation. Gayatri's reaction was interesting though, she did not insist that they was no way Alok could have done something like this.
I did not take an offense to their first thought being about Saberwal name. It is tied to the college and as Shaurya mentioned, their license can be cancelled.
However I have problem with the way Anokhi handled it. I would be completely on board if she had indeed heard the proof but her reason for believing Priyanka was that she was crying and there is no reason to make such allegation falsely.
We as viewers know that Alok is wrong but let us say if we did not know that or Priyanka had accused Shaurya, would we still feel Anokhi's handling of situation justified?
She told Betty that she understands that they are thinking like daughters but maybe someday they will think like females. Would she feel the same way if her father was accused of molesting? She would think like a female and not like a daughter? How would she feel if Shaurya/Sab family seemed to be supporting the woman accusing her father of molestation and already judging her father.
It is easy to be righteous and talk idealism when you are not in those shoes and there is not much to lose on a personal level. If there is a season 2, I want Anokhi to stand in a place where she has to choose between her upbringing/parents and her in laws like Raj's murder attempt incident and her parents covering it up coming up. Or she has to choose between her parents/her desires and Shaurya's expectations (like once in a lifetime opportunity to study abroad vs choose to have her kid with a high risk pregnancy). I want to see how logical, idealistic and righteous she stays then.
Also given the conflict of interest, she should have insisted in sitting this one out. If Priyanka is proven false, students would accuse her and family of meddling with investigation. Her family would see her as someone who stood against her without any proof. If Priyanka turned out true, the family would be embarrassed and ripped apart and they will see her as someone who choose to stand by her friend instead of her family and not help them. Emotions do not understand right or wrong. Anokhi loses regardless of what path she chooses.
At this point in the show and with only 6 episodes left, writers have no options. Anokhi is on her way to become mahaan FL who can do no wrong so that we can have a happy ending. There is no time left to show her growth or her realization.
So this sentiment seems to be the common one since Saturday's episode that Anokhi is handling this wrong and that she should sit this one out. I don't feel like this at all and I'm not sure if it's just a difference is my personal thinking or not, so I'll try to explain.
So a female student makes an accusation to the head of the student council about sexual harassment by a person in the management. The process would be to bring it to management I assume, which Anokhi took some time doing. Priyanka took initiative and complained officially. At this point, management's job is to investigate the claims. Management should not include the accuser or accused in it though. Since the accused is family to the management/internal investigators, there is a conflict there, so an external investigation would be the most unbiased one.
In all of this, I don't know how Anokhi is the one in the wrong? She did take her time and tried to talk to Shaurya since it was a sensitive family topic. Anokhi also asked for an investigation, later asking for an external one since the accused was in the same room and partaking with the internal investigators. Anokhi said she would stay out of it as long as the management did their due diligence. Shaurya was understandably shaken and she did say that it's about right versus wrong, and even people in their family can be wrong.
I understand that society always demands proof and in this case Priyanka has it(thank god). But in cases of sexual wrong doing, people rarely come forward, and to say that Anokhi's judgement is questionable since she didn't ask for proof(she's not the investigator) is in itself wrong to me. It's society that first asks what a girl was wearing when an incident occurred or what she was doing at the site of incident before taking her words for what they're worth. I don't think it's wrong to take Priyanka on her word and let an actual investigation occur. Anokhi siding with the vulnerable over the powerful seems in character to me.
I understand the hesitancy of the Sabherwals. Families generally try to save their name and reputation over doing what is right. It's an age old story. There are probably many dowry cases and rape cases and honor killings on record to show that. I understand that such an accusation would hurt SIAC, just like any other company. But when your first instinct is to protect the powerful accused over the vulnerable accuser, I question intention and values....like in the case of Tej and Devi.
Maybe I'm being too self-righteous myself in supporting Anokhi. And obviously this is all clouded by the fact that as a viewer we know that Alok is an ass. But this Alok case is very similar to the ragging case where Anokhi's word meant nothing against the Sabherwal twins and the internal investigation was done by the twins father and uncles. Even there Shaurya couldn't believe Sabherwals would ruin their own family or college's reputation. Even there they accused Anokhi of going after the VIP kids. I just don't think the Sabherwals have a good record on standing by what's right to be pointing fingers at Anokhi.
