piu I'm still not over it at all ☺️
Ashu, I am still not over the scene yet. This scene takes me back to a recent movie which I had watched on Amazon prime – perhaps the only second movie of Arjun Kapoor which I have liked in my entire life. This was known as Sandeep and Pinky Faraar by Dibakar Banerjee. It’s a powerful satire and a dark thriller on gender roles, identity, patriarchy and existing misogyny in society. The last scene of the movie is extremely hard-hitting where there is a strong gender-submersive message.
The male protagonist Pinky cross dresses and escapes some goons. Long story. The female protagonist Sandeep or Sandeep, she crossed dresses him by helping him disguise.
Since this is the pride month, it’s essential for us to talk about how gender roles never mattered in the Indian society long back. We are a culture of Ardhanarishvar-the fused form of Lord Shiva and Parvati, and also that of Harihar which is the fusion of Lord Vishnu’s Mohini avatar with Lord Shiva.
In short, the point which I wanted to make was that despite the bizarre storyline and absolutely crazy genre of episodes, there are certain subtle seedings and messaging in Pandya store which make it a very interesting and progressive show.
They celebrated and destigmatised Krish’s hint of possibly being gay. The cross dressing is supposed to be hilarious but at the same time it’s Very intimate too. The parallels from Sandeep and Pinky Faraar are very strong because the same sequence had very intimate moments between the protagonist in the movie where they touch each other for the first time.
Coming back to the scene. I think I like the way Pandya store handles the women and their desires. They are no longer stuttering naive women who start getting asthamatic attacks due to a male gaze. I can’t wait for the story of Shiva and Ravi to unfold.

Okay
Good night bye bye❤️🤗
ahhh what an amazing analysis yet again Piu ❤️
you bring up such relevant points and I can't help but agree with you
under the humor are small hidden messages of a progressive society in PS
it's truly a treat to watch
Wow I never thought of it that way. Amazing analysis. ❤️
Now that I think back, cross dressing in ITV has mostly been for comic purposes with a demeaning undertone. Pandya store in indeed different- I didn’t even realize that they have normalized the idea in a positive light- which makes acceptance easier.
You ladies give me so much homework 🤣
