It looks like the severe mismatch is the point - he's wildly jealous because he knows she's out of his league.

Of course the 20 year age disparity between Silpa and Paresh is as much as between her and Meezaan Jaffrey and she looks far better with the latter even if he doesn't seem to have the charisma of his father Javed.
