Alot of people asked me to continue this drabble as a series. So here goes the second part.
Drabble 2: A Musical Night
Raghav paced in his office at the showroom after the meeting. It has been more than 4 hours but his dear wife had been ignoring him since the morning blunder, it was a blunder for her but a habit for him. How was he supposed to know that his baba would get a little offensive because as far as he had experienced, everytime he did that gesture, his Amma's eyes would shine bright like a toddler watching his favourite show.
No reponse.
He dialled her number for the hundredth time but got no response from her. And his ego wasn't allowing him to actually text her, i mean a call from him, he can actually make up an excuse for that for example, asking for a file he might or might not have forgot, dinner plans, etc but a text meant a specific thing.
"Anna sab theek toh hai na?" Farhad asked as he saw his Anna pacing around in the room scrunchin ghis nose, talking to himself.
"Farhad tera bhabhi na ek din mereko pagal kardega." He replied with an annoyed face.
"Ab kya kardiya aapne?" Farhad asked keeping the file on the table.
"Tereko hamesha main hi kyun galat lagta hai." Raghav eyed him.
"Kyunki aap pati ho aur hamesha pati ki hi galti hoti hai." Farhad replied as if he understood the concept of marriage like a thesis book.
"Bol toh aise raha hai jaise tera 50 shaadi ho chuka hai." Raghav taunted.
"Experience Anna experience. Mere ghar main toh hamesha abba ki hi galti hoti hai." Farhad patted his back.
"Han theek hai zyada mat udd. Galti ho gaya ab merese, bata kaise manaun teri bhabhi ko?" Raghav asked.
"Uske liye pehle yeh toh bataiye ki galti kya kari hai aapne?" Farhad gave a question as a counterback.
"Woh main na-" Raghav was about to tell him the little forehead kiss fiasco but stopped. Telling Farhad would mean two things - First a total awkward conversation, a little too personel for him and secondly, Farhad would tease him to death.
"Woh bass kuch kardiya main. Tu idea batayega." he asked.
"Google ka best idea hai ki sorry boldo." Farhad showed him the first website that popped up after the search.
"Try kara magar woh call nahin utha raha." he shrugged.
"Are toh Anna ghar jaakr bolo na Sorry woh bhi roses ke saath. Ek dum romantic." Farhad gave another idea.
"Par main aisa bada galti thori kara hai ki main usko sorry bole woh bhi roses ke saath." Raghav stood up his ground. I mean technically it was not his fault.
"Theek hai phir jhelo bhabhi ka silent treatment." Farhad shrugged and was about to leave.
"Are nahin woh chhup hojayega toh main uska lecture ke bina pagal ho jayega." Raghav stopped him in panic and grabbed his coat to go buy some flowers for his wife.
At Deshmukh Niwas
Pallavi chopped the vegetables in fury mumbling curses to her husband as she ignored his call for the hundreth time.
"Ab call karne ka kya fayda. Subah toh raita phaila kar yeh ghamandi Rao araam se office chala gaya. Breakfast toh mera haraam hua na. Sab aise ghur ghur kar dekh rahe the. Upar se baba toh gusse se laal hi ho gaye the." Pallavi murmured to herself.
"Ab kya kare woh bechara aadat bann gayi hai tu uski."Aai chuckled as she took the knife away from her daughter saving the poor vegetables.
"Par usko bhi toh aas paas dekhna chchaiye na harkat krne se pehle Aai. Pehle toh zidd krke mere saath aa gaya phir bina soche samjhe baba ka BP badhakr chala gaya." Pallavi huffed as she sat on the counter.
"Tere baba toh har baat par apna BP badha lete hai. Tu unki fiqar mat kar. Tujhe pata hai Pallu yahi chhoti chhoti cheeze pati-patni ke rishte ko sundar banate hai." Aai smiled explaining her daughter.
"Ho Aai aur aap bhi na zyada apne damaad ki side mat lijiye. Aane dijiye uss Ghamandi Rao ko main baat hi nahin krungi." Pallavi faked anger.
"Ho meri Aaji jo marzi main aaye kar." Aai giggled joining her hands infront of her.
Raghav slowly tiptowed inside the house with a beautiful bouque of red roses as instructed by Farhad. It had taken him an hour to search for the best flower shop and to pick out the most fresh flowers from the lot. He sighed as he found no sign of Vijay Deshmukh but suddenly felt a patt on his back that startled him. turning around he saw Milind Kaka giving him a teasing smile.
"Biwi ko manana hai?" he asked to which Raghav nodded like a kid.
"Phool dekar kadmo main gir jana aur tab tak paon na chhodna jab tk maafi nahin milti." Kaka suggested.
"Thora zyada nahin ho jayega." Raghav asked.
"Are yeh biwi hoti hi dramatic hai samjha karo" Kaka added.
"Milind kidhar reh gaye. Green tea bana rahe ho ya uga rahe ho." shouted Kaku from her room.
"Dekha drame ke naam liya aur meri wali ne bula liya." Kaka giggled leaving the place.
"Main sahi bolta hai Farhad ko shaadi ke baad aadmi ka value poora girr jata hai." Raghav sighed and turned around to enter the lion's den when he bumped into Amrutha.
"Hi Raghav." she smiled sheepishly.
"Hi chipku Ladki. Kaisa hai tum?" Raghav gave a sarcastic smile.
"Bass tumhara hi toh wait kar rahi thi. Wow kitne sundar phool hai." She exclaimed.
"Han yeh woh main tumhara-" Raghav wanted to say tumhara behen pallavi but Amrutha didn't let him finish his sentence.
"Wow mere liye. Tum kitne sweet ho Raghav." she took the flowers from him and even before Raghav could deny Pallavi arrived at the spot.
"Kya hua Amrutha tum itna kyun chilla rahi ho aur yeh flowers?" Pallavi asked not giving a glance to her husband.
"Pyaar hai na Raghav laaya mere liye." Amrutha replied with a shy smile.
"Are chipku ladki woh-" raghav tried to speak but was cut by his wife.
'Achcha Raghav laaya. Very good" She spoke with a sarcastic smile as she gave death glares to her husband before walkign away.
"Are Saree ka dukaan suno toh." Raghav ran behind her but she walked away fast and into the kitchen.
For the next hour Pallavi avoided him and Raghav avoided his Sanki Sasur, hence he sat in his room having dinner after making an excuse of an important meeting. After having his food he actually thought of completing his work when the elctricity went off. He grabbed his phone's flashlight and went down where he saw the entire Deshmukh clan sitting around with candles illuminating the space in a circle.
"Are Raghav aao na." Kaka called out to him but his eyes searched for someone else.
Pallavi walked in holding a beautifully lit candle along with Aai as she giggled on some joke.
"Kaka rehne de usse bahut kaam hoga." she taunted without looking at him.
"Nahin main bilkul free hai." he snapped back in an instant as he made himself comfortable beside Nikhil, opposite to her.
"Toh phir jiju meri team main." Nikhil spoke.
"Team?" Raghav asked.
"han woh light aane main abhi bahut time lagega toh hum sab antakshari khel rahe hai. Ek team hai Aai ki jisme Aai, didi, kaka aur mansi hai. Aur ek hai meri team jisme main, amrutha, kaku aur ab aap ho gaye. Baba refree taki koi bhi gana repeat na ho." Nikhil explained.
"rehne do Nikhil yeh south indian don ko hindi gaane thor aate honge." Pallavi taunted as she giggled with Aai.
"tu tenson mat le junior college ab toh main hi eterko jitayega." Raghav smiled back as he rubbed his palms.
Hence the game started and Raghav was shocked to hear Pallavi singing like a beautiful nightingale. She knew all the old songs and was literally singing a chorus with kaka while on the other side his team was a bit of a mess. Everytime they lost a point Pallavi would tease them with her tongue and his heart would do a summersault watching her so happy.
"Jiju aise toh hum haar jayenge." Nikhil spoke in a sad voice.
"Haaroge hi woh toh obvious hai. Chalo T se gao." Pallavi spoke while his team members rubbed their mane to remember a song.
Raghav looked at her as the perfect song clicked his mind and he started singing.
"
Tere saath mein hon subah
Tu hi sabse pehle ho haan
Raaton mein baatein teri
Naa neend ko de jagah
Tere paas harpal rahun
Yahi aarzu hai meri
Saanson mein teri mehek
Ho haathon mein hath tera
Mere seene ki dhahkan hai
Tu bann gaya
Mahiya mere maahi
Jaaniya dil jaani
Mahiya mere maahi jaaniya dil jaani
Kinna sona tu sona tu haan
Kinna sona tu sona tu haan
Kinna sona tu sona tu haan "
He ended the song still looking at her with a look that spoke his heart and she felt like the most important person in the world. She gave him an impressed look while everyone clapped for him and he just bowed his head slightly down to her.
"Wah jiju aapne toh baazi hi palat di. Lo di ab aap N se gao" Nikhil spoke while Raghav smiled.
"Pallavi ab tu gaa." Kaka turned to her.
"Mujhe nahin aata." she gve a teasing smile to Raghav as she knew he was waiting for a reply from her.
"koi nahin main gaa deta hoon." Kaka replied and Raghav's smile turned into a frown as he realised that his wife wasn't gonna leave him just like that.
"Ho gaya hai tujhko to pyar sajna
Laakh kar le tu inakaar sajna
Ho gaya hai tujhko to pyar sajna
Laakh kar le tu inakaar sajna
Diladaar sajna
Hai yeh pyaar sajna
Aa.aa.ho.aa…
Ho gaya hai tujhko to pyar sajna
Laakh kar le tu inakaar sajna
Diladaar sajna
Hai yeh pyaar sajna" Kaka sang as he gestured to the couple and Raghav eyed Pallavi to which she turned her head.
"Wah kaka wah ek dum badiya." Nikhil clapped.
"Zyada uchal matt bachchu A se gaa warna apni haar maanle." Kaka spoke.
"Haar kaise manega hum log abhi Raghav Rao iss team main hai." Raghav replied as he whispered something to Nikhil. Pallavi looked at him with a confused face.
"Lafzon ke haseen dhagon mein kahin
Piro raha hun kabse main hazoor
Koshishein zara hain nighahon ki
Tujhe dekhne ki ho khata zarur
Diwangi kahoon ise
Ya hai mera fitoor
Koyi hoor jaise tu
Koyi hoor jaise tu
Bheege mausam ki
Bheegi subah ka hai noor
Kaise door tujhse main rahoon
Khamoshiyan jo sunle meri
Inmein tera hi zikra hai
Khwaabon mein jo tu dekhe mere
Tujhse si hota ishq hai
Ulfat kaho ise meri
Na kaho hai mera kasur
Koyi hoor jaise tu
Koyi hoor jaise tu" Raghav walked to her as he took a flower from his pocket and gave it to Pallavi. Everyone clapped as Pallavi shyed away to his gesture. Raghav smiled at his wife's reaction and happy that she had finally forgiven him. He turned to leave when a voice stopped him.
"Sarphiri si baat hai teri
Aayegi na yeh samajh meri
Hai ye phir bhi darr mujhko
Main keh doon haan tujhko
Sarphiri si baat hai teri
Aayegi na yeh samajh meri
Bhooli main beeti
Aise hoon jeeti
Aankhon se main teri
Khwabon ko peeti hui
Sarphiri si baat hai meri
Aayegi na yeh samajh teri" Pallavi gave him a big smile as his heart fluttered at the meaning behind her song. Her eyes spoke volumes and he knew that they had to a long way but glad that they had started that journey. Their trance was broken by Nikhil who jumped up in excitement as the elctricity came back.
"Di aapne galat word se gaya. Hum jeet gaye. Jiju hum jaate gaye" he celebrated not realising that it was Pallavi who won and Raghav who lost his heart and soul to her.
