Kareena is Indian not Pakistani, so talk about what's happening in India right now.

Yes, Pakistan went through this and paid the price, luckily people and some government realised started to change. Now none of the religious party get any votes. The people are tired of these extremists as they block them going forward.

Once these extremist enter very hard to kick them out.

Neither Pakistan was brought in as a deflection nor I was out any defence. Pakistan was given as an example of how a racist country behaves. Where even government and judiciary also doesn't support minorities.India doesn't even come close to what Pakistan has done to its minorities. Yet People are throwing words casually like Hindus bigot racist and what not.

Precisely the reason I came back because one such thought was lingering in my mind so would say it and leave.

People forget what value certain words hold. Quite ironic when some people here wants to showcase themselves as very secular and awakened souls who believe in respecting all religions. Yet they would knowingly or unknowingly participate in depreciating a sacred word like Bhakt in a pejorative way.

I really hope those who use word Bhakt as an insult would seriously think about it.

Baki jiski jaisi soch.

The way they drool over random white people wearing Indian clothes is something I'll never get. There are a handful of white people on bhakt twitter and they get treated like rockstars as if they're experts in all things because they have white skin.

there are white people on bhakt twitter 🤢 might be trump supporters

And bringing it back to BW so this doesn't get dumped into Debate forum... they meddle even in cultural things like films.

The BJP spokesperson Kailash Vijayvargiya compared SRK to Dawood Ibrahim and the current CM of UP, Yogi Adityanath compared him to terrorist Hafeez Saeed and told him to move to Pakistan. They give these threats OPENLY. In the movie clash with Raees, they openly put their might behind Kaabil and told their bhakts to watch the other film not starring a Muslim. If they have no fears even attacking a prominent and famous person, imagine what they would be willing to do to an unknown Muslim who has no power and fame to protect him.

Fringe elements, my foot. These are people who are at the top of the party leadership. Yogi is being considered a PM candidate.

OMG....... I didn't know all this abt SRK. I only know abt how Amir was hounded for hi is remarks abd his visit to Turkey.

Anyways, it's just not muslims who are vilified by these hatemongerers. Christians, Tribals, students, journalists abd now even poor farmers are labelled as khalisthaanis. They will target anyone who dares to question them. It's like that poem by tge pastor Martin.... "First they came for the socialists......"

To be honest, just as right wing is rising everywhere, Pakistan is not untouched.

Recently a christian man was sentenced to death for text messages he'd sent to his supervisor that were considered blasphemous. I mean, by the court! Apart from other minorities (including Sikhs & Hindus), even people who consider themselves Islamic i.e. Shias and Ahmadis are discriminated against, and attacked. Balochistan freedom struggle continues to be suppresed..... and so on.

Every country has its own issues!

And any liberal SHOULD be aware of these human rights issues as well, along with what's happening in other places in the world.

But yeah, we're discussing about Bollywood & KKK. And the root of the problem there is that the vicious trolls are systematically enabled by those in power, instead of being given a light rap on their knuckles.

Bhakt literally means "devotee"...in Social Media, Bhakts refer to Modi devotees. It has nothing to do with Hinduism. There are blind "bhakts" of Godmen of every religion, politicians, actors, athletes, a show, a theory....virtually anything.

Its dangerous to be blindly devoted to anyone/anything.

As far as Pakistan goes, if anything we should learn from its history. Pakistan was a progressive society and an emerging economy outperforming India until Zia Ul Haq who bought in radical Islamization. Pakistan never recovered decades later.

India is on the very same path under Modi.

Bringing Pakistan into this is irrelevant only because we are not Pakistanis neither do we have any say in the way they run their country. @Bold: You are talking like as if now they have arrived. They still have a long way to go before at least coming to the level India is in, in terms of religious tolerance.

Pakistan keeps mum when asked about the diminishing percentage of it’s Hindu population who were a majority in most of the states, before the partition.

Yeah, so it’s a valid fear that Indians don't want to become another Pakistan in terms of protecting their minorities.

Your post reeks of ignorance. Either you are genuinely unaware of what’s going on around you or you just like to pretend saying ‘saaab changasi’.
