Hasmukh vs Anupama

I just had some thoughts on Anupama living in the family house again track. I absolutely hate it and wish she could just move out, and the kids that want to follow her just go as well but I think it might actually be a purposeful decision by the writers.

In the last couple of weeks, we saw Anupama getting out from under the thumb of Vanraj and Leela. They tried really really hard to get her to stop the divorce, through all kinds of emotional manipulation, Leela straight-up tried to order her to stay but she held her ground and got the divorce and that was a pivotal moment for her and their relationships, but because Hasmukh wasn't around, she didn't get that chance to redefine her relationship with him.

Even if he was the nice guy who tried to always support Anupama, he did have a hand in her losing her identity and becoming the Shah family maid. To him, she's still the girl who will take care of him until he dies. It doesn't make sense that Anupama would be able to leave that kind of relationship so easily, and it totally makes sense that Hasmukh wouldn't let Anupama leave so quickly either. I think the next couple of weeks are going to be about Anupama stepping out from under Hasmukh's thumb, no matter how loving he is, and becoming independent. Even if Hasmukh showers her with all the kindness in the world, he needs to understand this isn't the right place for her and let her leave.

I'm also thinking, where is Anupama's mom in all this! Her daughter got divorced and has cancer, but she's not here. I guess they're having trouble casting an older woman and getting a set during the pandemic, but I think once they do, they'll speed up the tracks and have Anupama move out officially.
