I think her realisation for how much he mattered to her started from the library scene when he character assassinated her! She was furious with him for it but she was also so hurt that he could have had that kind of an opinion of her. I feel her decision to leave SIAC stemmed more from the hurt that he, someone whom she had always thought to be fair in every situation despite gender, relationship status, social status, could think that of her, rather than the humiliation that those words caused. It was rightly pointed out by Babli that what one person said should not have mattered to her so much, but still, she could not tolerate it and decided to leave. She may have been unaware of the hurt behind the anger, but she did agree to it later when they had that conversation on the bridge.

Then, in the car on the way to Kapurtala, when Ahir plays the game about whose their most favourite person, she kind of realised that it was Shaurya that came to her mind first and I think this would be the first real indication to her about what she felt about him.

Beyond this, however, her realisation of love was, in my opinion, rushed and influenced by Reema and Kanchan, and she never really had a chance to reflect upon it herself, until maybe after the hostel scene.
