It does matter a lot, but I also felt he realized how much it meant to Pallavi, the dignity of it all and the official stamp. I know he didn't say it but I think he also wanted to convey that he doesn't care about her past status as a widow. She is now his wife, that's it. Banda kabhi admit nahin karega, woh alag baat hai. 😆 I think this is what Pallavi was saying to Krishna. Being a wife isn't just about romance and emotions. It is a role and a socially recognized status that gives your rights and responsibilities.
