I some ways I feel like that is consistent with his character. He gets love from everyone else but in his house he still wants to get Shaan's affections and still deep down craves the love from Aastha. The two people who left/neglected him. In college, all the students that love him but he is still hung up over the student who doesn't like him. Given his severe insecurity and issues with abandonment/neglect, I can actually see why Shaurya would need every person in his life to love him. Which is why those who don't love him, he goes after. We see him going after Shaan despite the neglect all the time and now we see him going after Anokhi despite her MUing him and harping on about how she is the only one that doesn't like him. It feels on brand that he would chase what he can't have/the people who don't immediately love him because he needs the affirmation and affection of everyone close to his life for validation.
Actually I feel it's not "everyone" that he cares about tbh.
He craves for Astha and Shaan cause they are his parents and he feels for them deeply.
With Anokhi he cares because she's makes him feel. She made him feel jealous of her, hatred and rage for her, to surprise (intelligence), care, tenderness to jealousy for her and finally attraction towards her.
She just makes him feel alive.
Otherwise he was like a robot. Just living in the Sabherwal mansion with a plastic smile and pain inside. He rarely showed emotions.
Nikki forces him to explode out. She's just as adamant as him. That's why her attention matters.
