Shaurya, is he really a misogynist?

First off, I swear I have never loved or related to any male character or for that matter any character as much as shaurya, [except the prejudiced notions he has about working women (in this case I 100% relate to anokhi , also I love her too❤️, and I am really rooting for you girl🤧)

Anyways this is specifically about shaurya, so I’ll continue like abhi to zyada time Bhi nahi Hua and I Am already so attached him

I think Aisa ml itv pe Kabhi nhi aaya, like someone who is passionate but is also soft.

This couple really has the ability to give an angst which is healthy not toxic, something I have so been craving to watch.

He is not someone who says respect women and still treats the FL as trash, he is the real deal. He isn’t someone who forces his opinion on the women in his life. Even for Shagun he GAVE HER the CHOICE, and then respected her decision though taunted her but still he didn’t totally take it on his ego. Honestly, this is where he is different. He doesn’t have much ego, he apologises whenever needed, he listens to what women (Specifically mentioned women because misogynistic mindset totally dismissed women and their opinions and so the mcp ml of itv)

He is against raising his hand on women, never for once did he indulge in victim blaming in the molestation case (which misogynists love to do)

He supports his bhabhi, dance kar rahi toh Karenr do, he would NEVER taunt his wife( ki mere upar dependent ho,mera ghar mere paise use kar rahi ho🤢) and all.

He would truly consider her as his equal and her opinions as equal.

Honestly kis angle se Misogynist Hai I don’t understand 😂

Even woh homemaker wala bhi he is NOT going to force It on any woman, he is going to only marry tHat woman who WANTS to be a homemaker out of HER choice.

Yeah wanting only housewife is a prejudiced notion he has jiske reasons hain but I won’t count it as full blown misogyny.

I consider misogyny to be a whole Mindset which literally hates women wants to silence them, torture them, consider them as second class citizens.

And casual sexism, or rather one example of it As subconsciously dismissing women’s opinions and everything she says (I have seen many guys doing that) which shaurya doesn’t do at all even in his anger.

His another amazing quality is that he listens and refrains from shouting and scaring the FL

(They have argued, he has spoken rudely (obviously not justifying it, he has to redeem it going ahead) but has never tried to or intended to scare her, or tried to overpower her even in so much anger which even so called gentleman lead does too sometimes)

And can’t believe I am saying this as it shows how low of a standard itv has set for male leads but yet it is how it is. He has never ever crossed anokhi’s personal space without her consent (anokhi said don’t touch me in that bouquet scene and shaurya didn’t, no questions asked , such subtly showing consent)

Whenever he has invaded her space ( eg lifting her in that car scene) , she still felt comfortable, not an ounce of uncomfort was present) and he knows ki itna Toh comfortable hai anokhi uske Saath And she really is that comfortable with him (maybe bcs woh sahi mein uske saath safe feel karti hain). Jo bhi hai, I honestly like this aspect so much.

It might also be since he is a professor so obv him doing like this would take away all the integrity of his character. But I don’t see shaurya as a character doing something like this even if it wasn’t a college setting.

Pata nhi kya kya likha hai par shaurya ke liye toh puri book bhi likh dun to bhi kam hain, Pagal ho gyi hun lag raha hai😭😭

Bas Aisa hi rahe pls kuch bhi ho jaye , if makers mess with him my heart will break🥺

Why do I even watch itv jaante hue bhi ki baad mein mera 🤡 banne wala hain, itne Baar disappointment ke baad bhi lagta ki nahi ab different hoga par, hopefully iss bar *touchwood and fingers crossed* acha rahe show going ahead.

Totally in rant mode today, but Thanks for reading😊

First thing-.

Yeh itv itv kya hai guys. Star Plus kyu nhi bolte. Im sory I have no clue.

Second thing:

Your observations are on point 👏. I remember watching many ML's just push and pull and never apologise. Just outright rude ans hurtful behaviour. Shaurya on the other hand is the angry young man, but at the same time, knows when to apologise for his mistakes. He is extremely sweet , tbh. The way he comes to mend his issues with Anokhi is cute too. After he picked Anokhi up when she came infront of his car, he immediately apologised. I was surprised honestly, because Im not used to such MLs, and trust me it was a pleasant surprise. Because these are the guys we all fall for in our real lives.

Third thing:

To me, I do see a flicker of misogyny in him. Obviously we know why he has these prejudices. But i do remember him telling Shagun " You didn't ask me before applying to Cambridge." And he told her All the Best in a very sweet manner. But he bascially broke up with her on a reason that is not acceptable (to me).

But yeah, Im happy that Anokhi will change his misogyny soon.

Fourth Thing:

I think this is his character train mainly because he is playing a professor.

PS : Anokhi feels super safe around him. She never minds him touching her unless she's mad or angry at him🤣

The actual standard set by ITV is that men are 'abusively' macho and women are either overly mahan or overly evil. But that's another thing.

I agree. When I heard that Shaurya was a misogynist, I expected him to be way more misogynistic. But he is actually shown and a good human being❤️ he is so good to women.

He might think that they belong in kitchen but he has never disrespected any woman (apart from Astha but that is not the part of his misogyny, it is his personal issues with her) 😊 And infact he has rightfully been rude to Anokhi. I think many people on the forum would agree that she is 'bin bulayi mehman' in his personal space... She is assuming things based on one sided story.

As a matter of fact, I'm obsessed with this guy and I wouldn't have been if he was a misogynistic MCP

Yes, Shaurya is an amazing character.😊

I was suprised how this good of character traits are shown in a Male lead when promotion was done soo poorly.

He is definately not a misogynist. As he does not hate women.

He is not Chauvinist either as for now.

He respects women, treats them nicely, his institution have so many females and he is seen encouraging them to study. Even his own sisters also. He idiolises his Badi Maa. He doesn't think women are inferior even if they are housewife.

What one wants in their life partner is a personl choice. There is nothing wrong in asking for one perticular thing there as long as u don't cheat or force the other person which he never did.

As for a matter of treating his wife, can't say much but as per his character he will surely respect her as an equal, make efforts to make her happy. Like he did in Shagun's case. They decuded that Shagun will be guest lecturer in SIAC.

But what is wrong here is his reasons for wanting a housewife. His thinking that working women can't be good mother, this is wrong. And that is what this show is about. How he will change his thought process and grow with his thinking and character.🤗

But his bit of superiority complex was shown on one or two instances. Like when he told Kanchan, "Maine baat karli hai na" when Kanchan told him she should have managed.

I'm totally in awe with his character. A deep and layered character. Intensity without any kind of brutal behaviour, passion without any devilish acts.

I'm so glad they did not show him as one of those Alpha males.

Can't get enough of him.❤️

I think it's okay.

Some men are brought up that way. It is wrong but I am still relieved that he didn't make it dirty.

Just like there are some men who want working women, there are some men who want housewife. Similarly, some women are ambitious regarding their career but some don't want to study further and choose to be housewife.

But it's only okay as long as it is a choice and not forced.

I wasnt expecting him to be this good of a character either. Initially, when I saw him and saw his body language, Shaurya irritated me. On one hand he was visiting a girl's college to give out trophy and on another hand, he was breaking up w someone bc she wanted to study further. All she was asking for is a 2 yr break in their relationship. They could have easily worked it out so she gets what she wants and he does too. they didn't need to have kids right away either.

However, he just wanted someone who will always be there with him and around him, like a saya - like the devi lady does. That's unrealistic. He's equating someone's physical presence in his and their future kids wife to love. He told shagun that i dont find it wrong if I want a wife who will always be with me.

He did give her a choice and didn't thop his decisions on her directly. He did give her a choice and eventually respected it too. But, he didn't stop his family from taunting and saying wrong things abt shagun and her family. They treated them very wrong when all the family wanted to do was tlk.

He has so many interesting layers. However, he does respect women, he does apologize and listen. He takes the time to understand. He's not like the usual male lead who hurts the female and lets his ego or situation/misunderstanding get the worst of him.

He has never crossed his boundaries w/o consent and is usually someone if you meet him or tlk to you, appears to be a normal, humble human being. He does have an anger problem he needs to treat but he gets angry when tlking about his mother. otherwise, he treats anokhi normally as well. He backs off crossing her space when she says no but otherwise there is no bandish when he tries to. she feels pretty safe and herself around him too. she lets it all out and doesn't take a step back in calling him out on his sh*t. I think somewhere deep down he appreciates that bc no one has done that before. He's so used to the "raja beta" treatment.

I have been obsessed w Virat but soon as he changed i'm like seriously he is trash. I hope the makers keep shaurya's character intact with improvements over time.

Also, not to mention loved seeing the playful side of his during the family party thing. He was encouraging everyone to have fun and catching eyes w anokhi. Wonder why he lied about dancing? There's so much to him that revealing to her its so cute to see. So far, really liking shaurya.

Glad that the show is about both the ML and FL. Otherwise, don't want to just see the FL crying and being bechari all the time and ML being the one either macho manly abusing her or misunderstanding her, then turning sweet for 2 seconds and back to square one.

When the promos for the show were happening, Shaurya was portrayed as immature and sexist.

When the show began we saw him clearly behaving as a mcp by giving his fiancé an ultimatum regarding her education or being his wife.

I think somewhere CV realized this is not what we want to see. Slowly I think Shauryas character has changed and it can be seen the way he helps Anokhi

I think his character has been redirected more to focus on his issues with his mother and abandonment issues around that. It gives the male lead a real story and we can sympathize and see his view point also.

Since he helped Anokhi in her college I haven’t really seen Shaurya portray any sexist behaviour.
He is level headed for the most part. I mean Shaan can stand to learn a few things from his son tbh

If they kill off Astha then I don’t know what will happen. It will leave too many issues with Shaurya & he will never get the closure he needs.

Also don’t want to see a hate story between the 2 leads over Astha. I want Astha to walk into Saubherwaul house & show them who is boss.
Devi’s expression would be amazing to see

Plus we will get bonding scenes between Astha and her SIL. I want to see this !
