I'm not going to lie, I know a many people (including myself) that were expected to become an adult way tooo quickly in their life. Usually the oldest child in the family, is expected to be the mature, calm and collected one, and essentially become the third parent in the house, which is what basically happened with Veer. Vikram and Nandini are clearly much closer to Veer than their parents. Whilst looking after himself and his siblings and other household responsibilities, he forgot to enjoy his childhood and teenage hood. Today when he was having fun, having a simple samosa, you can really imagine what he must have been like in his early 20s, when he was meant to have the fun, instead he is having it now.
Rani is literally a breath of fresh air in his life. She will slowly make him to all the things that he missed out on in his childhood and make him live life to the fullest and not just exist for the benefit of others.
