Saw the teaser.alia is good in it.i didn't like the poster but she is good in teaser

The only good thing about SLB movies' is his trailers and teasers but this one looks so C-gradeish for some reason.

Alia's attempt at acting😆reminds me of Shraddha in Haseena Parker minus the horrible bloated makeup, otherwise same voice cracking dialogue delivery to sound menacing, same giraffish body language😆the part where she's patting the back of that guy had me in splits😆

This film will need truckloads of PR and fake praising to run, but for some reason I feel SLB seems least interested lol.

Ouch, that hurt! My bad though; I totally forgot - every role has been written with 'the first choice queen' Aishwarya in mind 😃

But what part of 'imo' did you miss? I am of course fully aware that a 40+ Rani wasn't necessarily even in consideration for this role in 2020-21; Priyanka was. It's just that I happened to recall Rani and director Vishal Bharadwaj being Hussain Zaidi's celebrity guests in 2011 for the launch of his book Mafia Queens of Mumbai (a chapter of which has inspired the Gangubai film)…and that, I admit, made me project a little bit. I have read Zaidi's book and a robust & fierce performer like Rani would have been the obvious and age appropriate choice to play Gangubai Kothewali if this movie were made back then.

My post history notwithstanding, I do like Alia…a lot. But she simply doesn't fit the role here. Also I genuinely didn't realise mentioning a semi-retired, now "almost irrelevant" actress' name would fetch me likes. Been missing a trick.

The PR and fake praising has already started. First all her colleagues reposting the trailer and now meme pages posting links to go watch the trailer and praising the trailer sky high. Literally every indian meme page I'm following has been doing paid promotion of this movie. How desperate are aloo and slbs pr. 😂

I love how Alia, KJO, YRF films etc are blamed on this forum for everything wrong in BW .............. and yet, topics on them are the most hot/discussed topics.😆

I think what attracted me the most was that it doesn't look like an SLB film. Looks different and thankfully no dewy eyed horrible acting like his earlier muse. Looking forward to it. Alia seems to have done a good job.

Only thing that bothered me was the graphics in the text. Looks so weird with the constant changing of the fonts and the bindi in gangubai looking like some sci- fi film ka title. 😆

Are you seriously talking about the same horrible actress DP(with her pathetic diction and lifeless dialogue delivery and horrendous voice modulation) who sucked big time in her last 2 Bhansali outings?

DP 'acted' like a lifeless zombie in Bajirao Mastani and the less said about her useless small role in Padmaavat, the better! Priyanka totally overshadowed her big time as Kashibai in BM and even in Padmaavat....forget Khilji, even Aditi Rao Hydari managed to steal DP's thunder there actingwise and even aesthetically! Aditi looked more regal and gorgeous unlike unibrow Padukone! So yup....after Priyanka, it was Aditi who wiped the floor with the grossly overrated DP in a Bhansali production. How embarrassing! No wonder SLB never considered DP for a solo female-led project like Gangubai because even he is aware of DP's limitation as a performer 🎃

So yeah...you DP worshipers really need to stop sulking and suck that up! Just sit down!!!

The only good thing about the trailer is the background music. And the last funny bit was nice, even dialogue delivery wise. But otherwise not just Alia, even Sanjay Leela Bhansali's touch looked out of place. The role requires a certain gravitas and screen presence here that is sorely lacking, someone with a 'kadak' dialogue delivery should have been taken.

Vidya and Rani would undoubtedly have been great choices amongst mainstream actresses, if they needed younger ones, Anushka or even Parineeti would have been better choices I think. Alia just seems to be modelling here, she isn't able to generate the same goosebump inducing sensation like the background music. Neither do the visuals or the look, for a place like kamathipura.

It's hilarious though to see the fawning by the BW folks on social media! (That was what made me watch the teaser in first place)
