I had this part ready, so am posting it, may have another one for tonight, as long as I get comments on this one. The following is part 8A to show continuity into the weekend. I know I may get some major chappals for this part, but please be patient, just as you have all been so far. This is and will always remain a SAIRAT LOVE story and the good news is this will go beyond 10 parts - I hope that’s good news. I am missing @rekha_crn.
Part 8A
Her father calls out, “Kaun hai? Arre ACP Virat, ya ya ..” she moves aside and lets him in and leaves them alone. Her father has opened his laptop and is showing Virat certain files and documents, she can’t really make out, but all she can see is Virat standing respectfully, having removed his cap and put it on the dining table. Sai shakes her head when she automatically imagines herself wearing the cap and poking her tongue out. She tells herself she is thinking these things because she is going to miss her father. She begins to get her suitcase to the living room when her phone rings, it’s Shilpa who is supposed to drop her at the bus station. She announces, “Shilpa ka hai” and she hits enter, “Hello..kaha hai tu? Pandhra minute mei nikalna hai..oh!!..it’s ok...Nahi nahi...all the best!” She hangs up, two pairs of eyes stare at her from the dining table.
“Voh nahi aa sakti, Pune hospital ka phone hai uske liye, interview hai lagta hai”. Her father immediately says, “Arrr tu rukk main abhi ready hoke chodh deta hun” she makes a face, “Abba, please, aap Kuch kaam kar rahe ho na, aur aap puri raat soye bhi nahi thik se, bus stand hi toh hai, Mai chali jaungi” Virat pipes in, “constable bahar jeep ke saath hai, voh chodh sakta hai”. Before she can answer, her father says, “very good! Hamara kaam bhi baaki hai, tumhe drop karke vaapas aane ko bol dena.” Her father gets up from the table and comes and hugs her, she bends to touch his feet but he stops her and kisses her on her forehead, muttering, “savkaash” Virat leaves them alone and steps out to instruct the constable. She comes out and he helps her with the suitcase, she waves to her dad and Virat shuts the jeep door when she is seated inside and whispers “See you soon, Just Sai” she rolls her eyes and says “hum ek hi city mei hone vale hai, iska matlab yeh nahi ki we will see each other” and his response is his smirk which just irritates her to no end.
She is seated on the bus, next to an elderly gentleman, right upfront, she wanted to actually sit in the first seat, but the driver stopped her saying it’s reserved. She looks around and realizes all the window seats were taken, better sit in front then behind. She sits next to the old uncle, calling him uncle twice while settling down so that he knows his place. Someone yells to start the bus, she is hoping the person in front seat is not going to turn up and she can sit there, the driver yells back that he is moving in five minutes. The bus starts to move, and she sighs in relief thinking she can move up, only for her to be able to see shoes running along the bus and Virat jump into the bus, in all his police finery and a satchel under his arm. The driver grins and says “Kya saheb, main darwaza band karne vaala thaa, mujhe lagaa ki aap miss karoge” Virat grins and turns and looks at Sai straight in the eye and says “Miss karne ka sawal hi paida nahi hota”. He starts to sit in front of her, his hand on the back of the seat, so close to her, she looks away and the driver pipes in, “Voh madam vaha baithna chahti thi, Maine kaha reserved hai” Virat looks at her with a serious face and says, “Aap baithna chahte ho, toh baith sakte ho” she tightens her jaw, looks straight at him and says, “No thank you” He has a huge grin and says plonking himself in between the two seater, “Thank you toh Vaise mujhe kehna chahiye” she glares at him through the seat gap and looks away. No way is she going to open her varan bhaat and share it with him. The uncle next to her also grins exposing his silver teeth, she shudders and curses her life.
It’s more than an hour later, she has been reading her book in the back seat, glancing at him through the front seat gaps once in a while, he has not turned at all to look at her. He is looking at his documents and keeps messaging and checking his phone. In some time, she herself nods off, the bus goes over a bump and the uncle next to her lands his face halfway down her shoulder and chest, she yelps and wakes up. She automatically stands up, looks around. It seems like the bus has made a pit stop, she realizes in her half sleep half disgusted state that Virat isn’t on his seat, she clutches her bag and her book and moves into his seat, leaning to the window. This is where he finds her, when he enters the bus, on his seat near the window fast asleep. He climbs into the bus and the old man in the back seat grunts loudly and he cleans his snort with his hand and wipes it down on the seat, Virat gags and immediately sits down next to her.
With half an hour away from Nagpur, she wakes up to find herself half on his shoulder and his forehead on her head. The bus has made the last pit stop and she immediately shifts, he moves and puts his head on top of the seat, she gets up gingerly and makes her way to the bathrooms at the pit stop. As she washes her face, a lady from the bus is washing her hands, looks at her in the reflection and giggles, “Kitna handsome hai tujha navra” she is shocked, her hands shake under the water. She returns to the bus, he is awake and almost has a sigh of relief seeing her, and a small smile. He immediately moves his legs to make way for her, she instead walks and sits next to the uncle in her original seat. He shakes his head and exhales exasperated and sits back in his chair. They reach Nagpur within the next half hour, in fact she is surprised when he gets down the bus along with her in front of the medical camp. He waits at one end, while she fetches her suitcase and this bus drives away to the next stop before the final destination of Nagpur station.
She rolls her suitcase on the road leading to inside the camp hq and registration, and he seems to be following her. She is irritated to no end, she suddenly turns and says “Aap kya kar rahe ho?” He looks at her in seriousness, “Chal raha hun” she rolls her eyes, “Mera matlab hai yahaa kyu mere peeche” he looks at her and before he can say anything, a young man with a doctor’s coat comes rushing to him, “ACP Virat Sir, hum aapko kal expect kar rahe the, Senior doctor ne phone karke bola tha ki police inspection hogi har hafte, kya yeh gang crime ka problem bahut serious hai kya?” Virat glances at Sai who is now visibly embarrassed at her outburst, and then looks at the young man and says, “Hi Dr.Aniket, haan mujhe kal aana thaa, but mujhe Bandhara se aate der ho gayi, aur phir aaj savere Chandrapur jaana thaa, so here I am. Hum baaki baatei andar jaake karei?” Dr. Aniket nods and then looks at her, “I am sorry Dr. Sai Joshi?” She smiles and nods, Aniket grins, “Aap ko bhi expect kar rahe the, welcome. Registration uss taraf hai, Mai just Sir ko milke aapko join karta hun, vahan ek madam hogi, head nurse, Ms. Abigail, voh sab Kuch samjha degi,” Sai nods and the three of them make their way into the heart of the camp. Sai, sheepishly walks way ahead of the men and Virat looks at her back while Aniket keeps chattering away.
“Aap pehli madam doctor hai iss camp mei” Abigail says, “baaki dono male doctors, senior doctor Pulkit, phir aapke jaisa Dr Aniket, Main head nurse aur do nurses hai jo shifts pe rehti hai, aapko mere saath room share karna padega, voh kya hai, sirf vohi room attached bath ke saath aata hai. Do bed hai aur ek sofa, kaafi comfortable hai. Single room chahiye toh bathroom Dr Aniket ke saath share karna padega, bolo kya mangtai?” . Sai without hesitation says, “Aapke saath share kar lungi, ladke ke saath bathroom share karne ke liye ...jitney bhi paise mil rahe hai, kaam hai” the ladies laugh. Just then Virat and Aniket join them, and Abigail announces to Sai, “Vaise aur Kuch chahiye toh, ACP saab ka ghar paas mei hi hai, aur unki family har Wednesday ko camp ke workers ke liye Khana bhejte hai, ACP aapka weekly check in late ho gaya, not good ACP!” Virat grins and says, “Sister Abigail, aap bataya punishment, Mai haste haste seh lunga” and there is that wink, which has Abigail completely overjoyed and Sai slightly uneasy. Abigail replies, “punishment yeh hai ki aap Dr. Sai Joshi ko mera kamra dikha dijiye, Dr. Aniket aap chaliye mere saath, voh rotavirus ka patient ka blood count dodgy hai”
Sai’s uneasiness travels like a heat wave that can’t be missed, it quietens Virat who looks at her and walks ahead of her, she follows dragging her suitcase on its rollers, it’s a short walk to a 3 storey building which has a huge covered hall on the ground floors and storage rooms on the second floor. The third floor has four doors, Virat carries her suitcase which she doesn’t argue about and he points to the other three doors stating, “common bath, male dorm, nurses dorm” and pulls out the keys and opens the door closest to the stairs, “Yeh hai Sister Abigail ka kamra jo share karne vaali ho, voh hai attached bath aur ..baaki details unse puch sakti ho” . She comes forward looking at everything around her, neat and tidy. There is a sofa with some chairs and a small attached kitchenette. There are two tiny rooms which barely have space for a bed and one side table, the godrej cupboard in the rooms forces one to walk sideways in the room. He walks around in the sofa area and opens the curtains allowing the sun to fill up the room, she comes out and smiles at that, while he wants to tell her that she is the only sunshine he wants in his life.
He is about to say something, when she says “Mai aapse Kuch kehna chahti hun” he is taken aback, it’s not her words, it’s her tone and thank god for it, because there in the back of his mind, he knows exactly what is coming and the front where his heart is slowing down fears it too, “Kahiye” she is taken aback at him being respectful, almost like he is ready to put some distance, and funnily without his intention, it gives her strength albeit with some hesitation, to say, “Mai...Mai aapke family ko bahut respect karti hun aur Mai unko galat impression nahi dena chahti” she pauses, hoping he will get it, he is not letting her off so easy, he tilts his body slightly while putting his hands in his pockets and casually states, “Mai samjha nahi, unhe galat impression kyu hoga?” she stares back at him slightly peeved that he is acting like he doesn’t know what he is talking about, “ Aap jaante hai Mai kya kehna chahti hun” Virat shakes his head and says flatly, “Nahi Mai nahi jaanta” they stare at each other, he challenging her, she accepting it and replies flatly back, “I am not interested, Mai aap mei interested nahi hun, so please aap mujhe....” He stares at her, she is unable to complete her sentence, she looks down, and she can’t see the hurt in his eyes, he takes one of his hand out of his pocket, turns and keeps the keys on the small table, opens the door and walks out, shutting the door on her face, she sighs and plonks down on her sofa and finds her hands shaking, she puts them under her thighs over the sofa she is seated on to calm herself down, only to realize her legs are shaking, she bends and takes the varan bhat dabba from her bag and for the first time in her life, her favorite varan bhaat is tasteless.

kitna accha OS..how i missed this?
can you bring back that OS index? i am missing many updates.😭
In this part I actually more touched with ninad , it's so good to see ninad as good husband supporting his wife , son and family... Now he looks like a army man.... Virat viart .... Kya ho Raha hai, I know he is hurt but why is he rushing , even if thinks his heart is broken he has give some time to heal and sai , I don't blame her , she is in tricky position, out of a relationship and beginning of career more over it would be embarrassing to date ex boyfriend brother immediately... Hahaha ..... But it's so interesting day by day... You ff seems so real that I started to rant also like we do for the serial....great writing..❤️❤️❤️ please do more episodes, I don't mind if it goes till 20 to 25 also 😁😁😁
Udaasi bhari update 😔
Sai misses samrat......I thought there was no love between them
I really appreciate your way of unfolding the story step by step and providing much needed time for love to develop between the leads👍🏼
Also ninad in your story is so understanding and sensible.
Thank u for the update ❤️ u r such a dedicated writer .....
@bold - actually if you read the lines (or in between the lines) she is not missing Samrat but her heart is actually confused becos of Virat. Look to the lines she is thinking before the song, and then the lines of the song, ... I know I know too much it is, but I try and put like that hints!! Sometimes they work, sometimes they won’t, but I keep trying, thanks for the comment - I will try harder

No idea what you mean?!
Virat up for arranged alliance😲but I know where he is coming from... he is hurt n heart broken🥺 and when this is the case, we tend to do things which hurts us the most😒 but anyways I am totally in for the upcoming angst👍🏼 bring it on
Thank you so much dear author for this 2nd update!!!!!❤❤❤ You are one of the most dedicated authors I've ever seen 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 and we readers greatly appreciated your efforts for us ❤❤.
So, moving on to the story, tbh I'm mad at Virat for saying yes for an arranged alliance. He is rushing head first into a decision which will cost him a lot later coz if we think logically, at some point this will creat more misunderstandings and distance between Sai and Virat. It was mentioned earlier that Chavan family brings food to the medical camp evry Wednesday and if Sai get to know of this news, she might try to keep her distance more.
But............... would it sound crazy if I say that I sort of understand why Virat took this decision??? I'm saying this because I also had a friend in my real life who was in the same situation as Virat and took the exact same decision as him. When someone is hurt and heart broken 💔💔, they tend to become blind to the suffering and pain of others due to the inability to handle their own grief🥺🥺🥺. And this will prompt them to blindly rush into decisions which they will think as the most suitable and immediate remedy to mend their broken hearts. But can a temporary plaster hold up or mend unresolved feelings which will keep intensifying tenfold when you see that person again and again? No it can't. Not in the long run. From what I understood, Virat is a person who loves companionship but was forced to stay away from it due to the nature of his job. Him listening to the Dubey couple in his alone hours, even if it is only fighting he hears, indicates his longing for someone in his life. So, when he found that person, Virat tried to approach her only to get his hopes crushed💔💔💔😭😭😭😭. So I think, this decision definitely makes him a big idiot, no doubt, but also a bit more human??????
And as for Sai.... I think she cried in the end not because she missed Samrat, but because she was missing Virat????? I mean even if she dialed him by mistake she waited for a minute for him to return her call and no matter how much she tried to convince herself to delete his number she didn't. I think some part of her expected him to not to let go of her even if she herself pushed him away. Can't wait to see how these two will come around again 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩. And I really loved Ninad's character today coz he is supportive and loving towards his family as it is ❤.
Good job on this update as well dear 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. And I'm really sorry for the long easy type comment 🙈🙈🙈. Eagerly waiting for your next update tonight 🤩🤩🤩. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻.
Happy Writing ❤
Imma cry 😭
Sai kaha family ki soch mei pad gayi 😆 Virat bhi pagal hai... Ek jhatke mei haa kar diya
I can't wait anymore! Update soon!
My baby.. Virat is deeply hurt.May be its the first time he has felt such a strong connection with someone that he was ready to ignore all other factors and jump straight into it. 😒
He is feeling that Sai stance is very clear and strong. So in his hurt he is not realizing that he needs calm down a little which by the way is very normal.Isnt this is the way most of us behave we take some rash decisions when hurt. And he has also put a stop and not fighting as he feels its completely one sided. He will fight tooth and nail if gets to know Sai also has feelings for him.
Ninad is an understanding father he was able to get that his boy is disturbed about something. But didn't probe much and give him his space.
Sai has started to feel a little with Virat not around. The song chosen is so so apt.It rightly summarizes how she is feeling. She is just not able to understand what is this feeling and then she also feels its not right. So basically she is fighting an internal battle and thus unable to acknowledge her feelings for Virat.
But she is going to voice out soon. Some more pulling and pushing. This camp is going to be full of Virat and Sai's encounters and she is going to go crazy when Virat will maintain distance from her. 😃 She is not going to take it well when Virat will ignore her.Its going to be difficult for Virat also but right now he is deeply hurt.
I am really sad now as you had said its a 10 chapter story and we are at chapter 8 already. 😔😒 I am so attached to the story now that I dnt want it to end.
thank you all for your comments. Still missing @rekha_crn. I had initially planned for a 10 part story, but this one will go beyond 10 parts, believe it or not, the characters forced me to 🤣🤣. I don’t know how many parts it will be, a lot of that will depend on comments- in fact will totally depend on comments. The index for this story is on Pg1. The next update will be 9A.
Part 9
It is middle of her tenth week at medical camp, and she can’t tell night from day from evening from morning. Working at a medical camp was everything one hears of and everything one doesn’t hear of- crazy amount of patient load, limited resources, inhuman patient doctor ratios, and what have you. The break room is hardly ever used, maybe once Sai sat there but the giggling and gossip by the shift nurses made her feel like they would rather a doctor not sit amidst them. She should bring a book next time and maybe just sit near the registration desk.
Then again, where is the time? For all purposes, the camp is used as a primary health center for the poor people living in and around Ramtek and Wainganga river area, which itself is around 80-90,000 people, all of this gives her no time for anything else, by the time the day is over she has collapsed on her bed. There are doctors from the college on rotation, but she and Aniket handle most of the cases. She has spent the past few weekends in Chandrapur with her Abba, who then chided her saying, she need not come every weekend to sleep at home, instead get out and explore Nagpur. He is right, she knows. She wonders if this weekend she can relax, she spots Abigail walking to the break room and follows her.
She steps into the middle of an ongoing conversation. A shift nurse exclaims, “Pata nahi kya baat hai? Har hafte aane vaale the, sirf constable atta hai,...Main toh unhi ko dekhne aati hun” the other nurses giggle, they become quiet when they see Sai walk in. Abigail laughs and says “Arre Dr Sai apni hai, unke saamne bindaas bolo”. Sai smiles at Abigail, loving her even more, “Haan haan..bindaas, Vaise kya bol rahe the?” One of the nurse pipes in, “Arrey aaj ACP Veeru Darling aane vaale hai na, hum discuss kar rahe the, ke itne din aaye Kyun nahi?”
Sai’s hand stills while she pours herself a cup of water from the cooler, she nods. “aaj kyun aa rahe hai?” Abigail in a serious tone, “Pata nahi, shayad Nagpur mei nahi hongey, tum ladkiyan puch lena” they giggle and leave. Abigail looks at Sai who is lost in thought. “Unke saamne kehna nahi chahti thi, lekin shayad patient list dekhne aa rahe hongey. Lagta hai bhiku ko leke kuch updates hongey” Sai nods, “kitney bajje aa rahe hai?” Abigail says “shayad teen bajje” and then hits her head, “Main inventory karne vaali thi, abb postpone karna padega”. Sai immediately says, “Mai kar lungi aap unko dekh lijiye” Abigail smiles gratefully, “Sure? Thank you so much.”
Shivam’s arrival from Pune makes his life on the case so much easier, but his life personally so much more difficult. Shivam’s constant questions eat at him and he rolls his eyes every time he starts it, “Toh tu keh raha hai, ki usne naa kar diya, toh tu jaake Uncle se kaha ki shaadi kar lunga? Tu admi hai ke pyjama? Kitna dhilaa hai tu?”
Virat rolls his eyes again, “Tu chup baithega aur mere ko list dikhaa” Shivam glares at him, “Tu mera baat pehle sun, tune zindagi mei pehli baaar apna dil kissi ko de baitha hai, Kuch toh usse sambhalke rakh” Virat is irritated, “kisko sambhal ke rakhu? Tu kya baat karr raha hai? Meri kya galti hai? Mujhe bhi aage badhne ka chance chahiye. Chal abhi, dimaag mut khaa, list dikha.”
A constable enters the room and reminds Virat that he needs to go to the medical camp. Virat looks up and says, “Haan vaha se patient ka list check karna thaa, ek kaam karna, zara Abigail madam ko bol mujhe phone karne.” The constable nods. Shivam stares at him, “Tu nahi jaayega na? Thik hai, Mai chala jaunga”. Virat makes a face, “koi zrurat nahi hai, mai chala jaunga” Shivam nods, “Toh kab jaane vaala hai?” Virat glares, “kahaa na, chala jaunga. Band kar” Shivam nods and keeps quiet. Virat silently cross checks the list to other things in his file.
Later in the afternoon, she is standing in the supply room, counting the number of gauze rolls. Rather she is hiding, because while she counts, her ears are attentive to the sounds outside. She can hear the nurses giggling and a deep male voice being flirtatious, he is here, she thinks. She shuts her eyes and opens them. Then there is absolute silence, not a pin can be heard, he has left she thinks. She looks at her her clipboard, well she finished the inventory half an hour ago, she can step out now. She steps out and there on the registration desk is a huge vase full of roses.
She holds the clipboard close to her chest, and walks to the desk and smells the roses, when she hears Abigail’s voice, “sundar hai na?”. She nods, “Kaha se aaye?” Before Abigail can answer, the two nurses walk in with a rose in each of their hands, “Arre ACP ne Abigail ko bada vase diya hoga, lekin hum dono ke liye ek ek rose. Hai na romantic?” She nods dumbly and her smile is dumber. And she hands the clipboard to Abigail and mutters, “PH detergent cans ki zrurat hai”, Abigail wonders what’s happened with her but just then, Aniket rushes in and says “Sai, I think hypovalemic shock hai, I need your help”
Sai follows him in a rush and caters to the man whose back is turned to her, Abigail reads the chart and it seems to suggest that his vitals are severely down, his face is mostly damaged and with minimal light, one cannot really make out the face. Sai and Aniket with the nurse, try to bring him back. Sai asks one of the nurse to set up dopamine and Aniket is checking his vitals. As the situation comes under control, Aniket and she discuss if they should get him to a CT Scan.
Later that night, Shivam and Virat are having dinner at Virat’s home. Ashwini pampers Shivam almost as though to make up for Samrat’s absence, as Shivani suggests, “Kya baat hai?! Aaj sab kuch Shivam ke favorites baney hai, hum toh Jaise hai hi nahi, hai na Devyani”. Virat grins and Shivam continues eating, Ashwini makes a face and Ninaad laughs. Devyani agrees, “Arrey don’t worry Tai, weekend ko jab aayenge, tab bread aur paani denge”. Virat looks up, “Kyun weekend ko kya ho raha hai?” Ninaad answers, “Arrey yeh weekend mai aur Tumhari Aai ghumne jaa rahe hai”. There are oohs and aahs on the table, Shivam even whistles. Ashwini shakes her head and says, “Arrey kya ghumne, hum Yavatmal jaa rahe hai Mahadev mandir dekhne, vahaan Saturday raat ko jagran hai aur phir hum Chandrapur jaake aayenge.” Virat looks up, “Chandrapur Kyun?” .
Ninaad immediately corrects him, “Arrey Aai ka matlab hai Chandrapur ke raaste se hoke aayenge, nazdik padta hai”. Virat nods and Shivam continues, “Toh matlab weekend hamara! Chalo ghumne jaate hai, humara kaam thoda kum hai” Ashwini immediately exclaims, “Khinsi lake chalte hai picnic pe, bahut din ho gaye”. Devyani adds, “Arrey Sunday ko mujhe Sai Joshi se milna tha, Samrat dada ki chizei abhi tak nahi li” Virat immediately, “Saturday ko chalte hai”, while his mother simultaneously “Aise kaise itne dino se liya nahi?” Devyani looks at her mother, “Voh bahut busy rehti hai Aai, bechari weekend pe apne Aaba ke yahaa usually jaati hai, first weekend hai 2 mahine mei yaha rahegi”. Shivam announces, “Toh ussse bhi bulate hai na.” Virat mutters, “Mujhe shayad kaam hoga, Mai aa nahi paunga.” Ashwini immediately, “Tu ussse mila hai Shivam?” Shivam shakes his head while Ninaad says, “Badi suljhi hui ladki hai, hamara Samrat stupid hai.” Ashwini replies, “Samrat ka dosh nahi thaa, kismet nahi thi..Buss. Shivam tu milna ussse, check her out”. The girls groan while Shivam bursts out laughing and Virat just glares at him and mutters, “tera Khana aur hasna khatm hua ho, toh chalein?” . Ashwini has the last word in, “Tu guest house mei kyu ruka hai, hamare saath yaha ruk jaata na”. Shivam hugs Aunty and leaves with Virat.
She keeps staring at the vase of roses while eating her dinner, Abigail dropped it off and went back to check the vitals on the patient. She kept thinking, what would she have done if she was around, how would she have handled him giving her a rose?! But in his mind, it would have been like giving anyone else. Because everyone got one, what is wrong with her?!?! She should go off to sleep, she promised she would check on the patient at 7am tomorrow.
