Chapter 12: Together We Stay

Sameer is out of danger, Team's trauma, Ayesha's home

interrupted by Ayesha's dad "Koi pareshaan nahin hoga. Don't worry sab yahaan aaraam se adjust ho jaayenge."

All have no option other than to listen to them. 

"Haan jab tak Hazel (Liza's mom) yahaan nahin aa jati tum humaari ho." saying so Ayesha's mom kisses Liza's forehead. 

"Thik hai toh yeh tay hua ki tum paanchon yahin rukoge." Ayesha's Dad commands. 

Shree, Shivani and Ajay eat when they see that others are not having. Shivani tells "Beta kuch toh kha lo tum sab. Warna weakness feel hoga"

They then eat two spoons and get up. Shivani also feels it's better not to pressurize them and hence after having dinner gives them chopped fruits. They just eat 2 pieces not more than that.

Shree also finishes his dinner and decides to leave. "Toh guys main chalta hoon. Tum log aaraam kar lo." saying so Shree picks his keys.

Ayesha, Sakshi, Liza and Chotu look at him. They don't want him to go. They want him to stay there. But don't know how to ask him to stay. 

This is when Shivani notices their face and tells "Shree tumne suna nahin Ajay ne kya kaha." Shree gives a confused expression. Shivani adds "Paanchon ko yahin rukna hai. Jisme tum bhi aaye ho" and smacks Shree.

Shree then looks at his friends. Their eyes convey everything. Their fear, trauma, pain, cries, everything. Hence he decides to stay there with them till they get back to normal. At that time it didn't matter to him how long it would take. Even if it would take years he would stay with them without any complains.

He decides to stay back by keeping his keys down and for the first time in everyone's eyes he could see a very small sense of satisfaction.

He sees the fruit bowl which Shivani had given them to eat, but they didn't. "Guys kuch toh kha lo na. Bhukh nahin lagi hai kya?" Shree asks in a very casual tone. 

"Humein itna khaane ki aadat nahin hai" says Chotu in a very low voice. Others just nod their head in agreement. Hearing this Shree shatters internally. Chotu saying "itna khaane ki aadat nahin hai" when he just ate 2 spoons of rice and 2 pieces of fruit was a very bad sign.

This was the same Chotu who could eat and eat and never get full. But now he is, that too with just very little amount of food. They all had become very weak and this was something which Shree could not unsee.

He looks at the other side and wipes his tears. Shivani sees it "Aree sona nahin hai kya? Chalo so jaao. Tum logon ke liye gadde taiyaar kiye hai. Jaao" saying so she sends everyone to their room. 

Ajay goes with them as Shivani had signalled him. Here she stops Shree. Shree also understands why and looks at Shivani with tears filled in his eyes.

"Aunty main inhe aise nahin dekh sakta. Bohot mushkil hai mere liye. Main kuch bhi nahin kar sakta aur yeh baat mujhe andar hi andar tod rahi hai aunty" saying so Shree cries and rests his head on Shivani's shoulder. 

Shivani caresses his head and says "Shree tum jaante ho, jab main hospital mein kaam karti thi na tab maine ek cheez bohot observe ki hai. Patient se zyaada dard agar kissi ko hota hai na toh woh uske sabse kareebi ko hota hai." she wipes his tears.

She then adds "Aur tab na hum unko bas yahi kehte the ki ab sabse zyaada patient ko unki zaroorat hai. Woh bas agar ek cheez kare toh bohot hai. Aur woh hai saath dena. Kyunki woh sabse important hota hai. Aur tum mere bache yeh kar rahe ho. Toh apne aap pe itna harsh mat bano" saying so she cups his face tenderly.

Shree just hugs her and she also hugs him back and while caressing him tells "Tum, Sameer aur Arjun inn sab ko theek kar doge, yeh vishwaas mujhe, Ajay aur Hazel teenon ko hai" and smiles "Aur hum bhi toh hai na madad karne. Jab itne log saath ho tab sab theek ho jaayega." She wipes his tears and tells him to go to his friends. 

He leaves for the room where his friends are there. He sees no one has slept instead they are sitting awake cluelessly. He goes to them and slowly calls them out "Guyss!" 

This time all listen and just look towards Shree. He starts in a fun tone "Humein sona chahiye. Agar achi neend milegi toh kal acha mood bhi hoga. Toh so jaao" saying so Shree sleeps covering his head with the blanket. 

All look at him covered in a blanket and pass a small smile. They also then try to sleep. But they can't. They try to sleep for 3 hours when atlast they fall asleep. They have no habit of sleeping on comfortable mattress. In the island they slept on hard floors and after a long time a mattress they are using. 

When they all fall asleep Shree quietly sneaks out of the room and calls Sameer. Rathode had instructed him to inform about the team's condition after reaching home.

*On call*

"Sir team ki haalat theek nahin hai sir. They are not well. Aaj unhone sirf 2 spoon rice khaaya. Jab maine kaha ki aur khao, Chotu ne kaha ki aadat nahin hai unhe itna khaane ki. Sir kya karein. Main inhe iss haalat main dekh nahin sakta. 3 ghante se sone ki koshish kar rahe hai aur ab jaake neend padi hai. Sir I don't know..." saying so Shree cries uncontrollably. 

Listening to this Arjun and Sam also have tears in their eyes. After sometime they wipe their tears and in a calm voice Rathode says "Shree bohot difficult hai yeh tumhare liye hum jaante hai. Unke aisi haalat ke baare mein sun na humare liye mushkil hai. Toh tum toh wahin ho."

"Waise Ghar jaa rahe ho kya abhi?" Arjun asks concerned as he feels that Shree is in no state to drive. He adds "Agar jaana hai toh bata do. Main pick karleta hun tumhe wahaan se."

"Nahin sir. Aunty ne sabko yahin rok liya." Shree says narrating the incident from the time they left the hospital. 

Samjun have tears flowing from their eyes. They realize it and try controlling themselves. After composing themselves Rathode says "Shree kal unhe Rooh Healing Centre leke jaana 11:00 baje. Shaam tak wahin rahenge woh log. Maine wahaan ke doctor se baat kar li hai woh sab dekh lenge."

"Lekin sir shaam tak, kaise?" Shree asks concerned about them. 

"Shaam tak sirf woh chaaron hi ruk sakte hai. Toh tum unhe wahaan chodke yahaan aa jao. Shaam ko jab unhe pick karne jaaoge tab doctor se baat kar lena." Arjun says trying to ease Shree's stress. 

"Okay sir" Shree replies feeling happy about them being taken care of. He then asks out of curiosity "Waise sir wahaan hota kya hai?" 

"Shree wahaan pe basically counseling aur bohot saari therapies aur activities hoti hai jiss se woh log iss trauma se baahar aa sakte hai. Thoda therapy se aur thoda hum sabke saath se." Rathode replies to Shree's curiosity with a gentle smile.

Arjun adds "Abhi unse emotions express karne kehna is not possible. Woh log uss haalat mein hi nahin hai. Sirf koyi professional hi kar sakta hai. Toh Rooh Centre ka idea acha hai." He pauses and then to lighten up Shree's mood he says "Tum zyada stress mat lo. Mushkil hoga lekin hum dono bhi tumhare saath hai."

"Haan Shree kuch bhi problem ho, un logon ko ya tumhe Don't Hesitate" Rathode says with a lot of worry for Shree. He is worried about him. Staying with the team can affect him a lot. It can emotionally drain him as he needs to put up a strong face for them. Which is not possible for anyone. Hence Rathode's voice reflects a lot of worry.

Shree senses Sameer's worry and says "Sir aap please tension mat lijiye. Main sambhal lunga khudko. Aur yahaan uncle aur aunty bhi toh hai. Aur kuch din baad Liza ki maa bhi aa jayegi. Toh aap please aaram kijiye ab" 

Rathode who is already frustrated with aaraam says with anger "Aaram aaram aaram! Kya laga rakha hai sabne? Main theek hun." Shree and Arjun smile at Rathode's frustration.

"Sam ukhad mat itna. Bechara tumhari bhalaayi ke liye bol raha hai." orders Arjun. 

"Haan jaise tune aaj tak bohot suni hai bhalaayi ke liye boli hui baatein" Sameer sarcastically says while glaring at Arjun.

"Sir aap dono shaant ho jaaiye" Shree says after mustering a lot of courage.

By then hearing the dogs barking Chotu just screams and gets up even the rest do the same. They are not used to the normal life. Shree hears that and Rathode and Arjun too who are on call. 

"Shree kya hua?" asks worried Rathode and Arjun.

"Sir main dekhta hoon." Shree replies and immediately rushes to the room.

"On call hi rehna" Rathode orders.

*In the room* 

"Chotu kya hua? Guys tum sab achaanak uth kyun gaye?" Shree asks worrying and switches on the lights.

"Kya hua?" he asks again sitting next to them. He caresses Chotu's head and waits for him to reply.

Chotu doesn't reply. Instead he just hugs Shree. Shree reciprocate with a hug. He looks at everyone and their eyes. Their eyes are filled with fear. Maybe the sudden sound scared them. 

Shree then to calm them says "Kuch nahin hua hai. Main hun na yahaan. Kuch nahin hoga" and rubs Chotu's back.

"Shree Sikandar sach mein mar gaya na?" Sakshi asks in a scared tone and fearful eyes.

"Haan Sakshi. Sikandar mar gaya hai. Ab tum logon ko koyi pareshaan nahin karega." saying so Shree gently holds her hand.

"Hmmm" replies Sakshi. 

"Mujhe waapas nahin jaana wahaan uss andhere mein. Please Shree" Liza says in a fearful tone and sobs. Ayesha sees this and gathers her in a hug.

"Aisa kuch nahin hoga Liza" Ayesha says while caressing her hair to relax her.

"Haan. Iss baar koyi nahi aayega. Yeh Mera waada hai." Shree says while giving her an assuring smile.

Shree puts them all back to sleep. Ayesha and Sakshi too sleeps after putting Liza to sleep. Shree then tries to go out of the room to talk to Samjun when Chotu holds him and says "Yahin ruk jaa na abhi"

Shree looks at him and decides to stay "Thik hai. Baahar nahin jaunga".

Samjun understand that Shree can't talk to them now and hence cut the call. Shree also sees that the call is disconnected and sleeps. Chotu hugs him and sleeps. 

The girls too hug each other and fall asleep. 

*The next day*

All look tired while comming out of their rooms. Shree comes with new toothbrush for everyone. And Shivani had already bought a lot of essential clothings for them so she gives it to them.

Shree in an excited tone says "Chalo fresh ho jaao tum sab. Hume baahar bhi jaana hai."

"Kahaan?" asks Sakshi in a dull tone. Shree looks at her and thinks for a while, "Yeh wahi Sakshi hai na jo office mein pantry tak jaane ke liye khush hoti thi. Aaj dekho. Sikandar tumne jo bhi kiya acha nahin kiya."

He comes out of his thoughts and looks at everyone with questioned looks on their faces. He then continues "Aree woh na Rathode sir ne kaha hai tum logon ko kahi le jaane ke liye toh abhi please ready ho jaao warna Arjun sir ka Samje Ya Samjhaun sun na padega mujhe. Waise bhi aaj kal badi dosti ho gayi hai un dono ki. Toh beta meri toh waat lagegi agar tum log nahin maane" Shree says in a very complaining tone.

All listen to it and just pass a small smile. Shree sees that and gets a small satisfaction. At least they smiled.

They all go to freshen up when Shivani and Ajay ask Shree what is going on. At first Shree hesitates but then he musters courage,

"Woh Rathode sir ne inn chaaron ke naam se Rooh Healing Centre mein appointment liya hai. Wahaan pe iss trauma se baahar aane ke chances zyaada hai. Aisa unhone kaha hai. Aap logon ko koyi problem toh nahi?" saying so Shree looks at both of them a bit scared for an answer.
