I'm glad she's proven people wrong and i will go ahead and say ki during redux in IB her acting went all blah..maybe the demand of that anika or maybe she herself was lossing interest.. don't know. But she came back with sanjeevani..vo baat alag hai ki sanjeevani mai uska character aadha time depressed tha 🤣 and then whatever might be n5 story, she's gone ahead and did wonders with her acting. (The whole robot and no emotions vale scenes in beginning i blame on script and story and mukta)

I can understand why she chose Sanjivani, it was a huge franchise and no one knew then the storyline would be so rubbish. But it was a good vehicle on a major channel to go for. Even with Naagin, tho I troll the franchise, the fact is, it's Balaji. And that would open doors for Surbhi so on that level I understood why she'd pick it.

Redux mein she and NM were both blah, I guess they'd lost interest by then and were going through the motions.

@bold - I blame the writing and direction here too. She must have been told to act that way, bc we know Surbhi can emote and add nuance even if not scripted. So the fact that she wasn't doing that at times felt deliberate, and a demand of the story for some reason.

At the end of the day, I'd say SC's gotten what she wanted out of N5 (and even Sanjivani where she's made friends and connections), and that's all that matters. Unka career hai, humari thodi that we should feel ashamed on their behalf for choosing something we personally wouldn't 🤣

That's the thing isn't it..the high handedness that i witnessed in the IB forum..i would be the first one to admit that IB was a trendsetter and the way they managed to show 3 lead pairs without destroying any of them is appreciable!!

But man, those people were really like ki IB na ho gya, netflix ka koi bada show hai..(idk take your pick.. whichever you like🤭)

(though i wasn't active during the airing time, i visited to check out ffs and then glanced at a recent thread about sc in n5..that was where all this crap was written)

Actors imo very rarely look at scripts too deeply, it's not Bollywood ki script jyada matter kregi..in itv script can be improvised in a sec. What matters to them is the brand, their co actors, their chemistry with lead and response of audience.

@bold- i remember some very specific scenes in IB jha her acting was mind blowing. The seperation track ke baad when she's walking on the road in that white saaree, the wedding track obviously, when she breaks down in shivaay's arms during the track jha shivaay is trying to find about anika's past, daksh track!!!

I wouldn't have paid attention to SM's earlier shows tbh bc they're just not my style, and like you say the sanskaari beta trope is not for me. I like the grey, layered, slightly edgy chars, so I really hope whatever comes next, SM gets to play with those shades again and keeps the beard. Actually I wish we could forever see him in only Veer's mould - the grey lenses, the black clothes, the voice modulation, the mannerisms etc. - but I know that is unlikely.

Even Bollywood mein kahan scripts matter that much these days 🤣 have you seen some of the latest offerings? Wahan actors ki star power is the only thing they care about. Uss ke bal pe if they make back their money, they declare the movie a super hit. I guess it's the same kind of funda there too - the "masses" = the TRP audience, and everyone else who wants good content falls under the "art"/indie film/OTT umbrella.

I guess this is both a blessing and a curse, but ITV mein everyone knows that story/content is not king. Audience reaction is, aur kissi bhi ghissi-pitti story ko audience se connect kar sakte hain with the right tools. As you say, their own brand, the production houses, the connections they make, the co-actors etc. - these are the things that matter. Jitna hum log yahan sar khapate hain har hafte on the nonsensical storyline, utna inn logon ke paas na toh time hota hai na interest. Shot dedo, aage bado, bas. Like we said, good for them bc otherwise they would never get anything done if they spent all their time navel gazing at how poor the scripts they get are. It's maybe a reminder to us all not to get so bogged down in the illogicality of stories, but kya karein, hum jab invest ho jaate hai toh it's difficult not to care about these things.

As for IB being a trendsetter, yeah I guess it was, but I suspect nobody knew that when they first started filming/shooting it. Who could have guessed that Anika would become so popular? Because on paper that could have been another cliched character but Surbhi breathed life into it, and coupled with the chem with NM they made that show what it was. In other hands it might not have had the same impact. So shuru hone se pehle kisko pata hota hai ke kya show kitna chalega. If SC (or anyone) has to pick scripts, they will choose what they think will progress their professional goals or give them a new challenge. They can't predict if it will or won't work in the end. So fans can bleat on about how some actor is "betraying" them by choosing poor scripts but no one is an antaryami to decide what will or won't work.

- Some talk about old EK shows, in which Huma and I learned we are basically ancient in comparison to everyone else here 🤣

- Lots of praying and nazar throwing to get SharBhi a new show together, esp. after they were both spotted with some old-school producers and directors at Sharad's bday party (Nivedita Basu and Anil Kumar both worked on the OG KGGK, which Huma and I took as A SIGN 🤣)

- Some 😒 bc we didn't get a SharBhi pic at the bday party

- Some kichkich about the eps this week, with us trying to cheer ourselves up by only talking about how excellent SharBhi are in every scene and how their comfort level has increased exponentially since the beginning etc.

Now I NEED to know how ancient both you and Huma are too 😆. Otherwise I also noticed how there were so many Balaji people at the part thanks to Sharad. Nivedita also posted a video with her and Surbhi. Which was sweet and I also seem to be reading too much on it 😳. As usual. The party and its pictures was a consolation after the episodes 😆
