Acha!! I am glad then you remembered me.

I always say, however messy a show is, they will have some good tracks and characters.

Couldn't agree more. 🤗

You know that way, Anokhi show also can be quite good cos few characters seem interesting. Written well. Plus Debamitta is very good in acting too.

I don't intend to see, just an example!

That's great. 😃

And even if you watch it, it wouldn't be the end of the world. 😛 One thing I realized with KD that when you have lesser expectation from the characters & they are portrayed as flawed such as Rono, it's actually easier to understand their POV & explains why they are reacting in certain situation.

Shaurya seemed like a MCP from the trailer review. But if they can pull it off, it would be certainly more enjoyable than goody two shoes ML like Ani. 🙄🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🙄

Yeah, tumhari yaad!! 🤣🤣

🤭🤭🤭

Omg you too felt, hi5! Totally crap it was!! Instead of giving a reality check, pros and cons kuch bhi. It's the same as saying post marriage your life will totally change, like in both cases life changes but you get the point. The total change.

Of course I felt like that. No sensible person, specially a doctor would give such horrendous idea to her BFF who was already in a lot of mess i.e. broken marriage.

You see, in Grey's Anatomy, one of the major reasons behind Owen & Amelia's divorce was he wanted a baby but she didn't. She gave birth to a child & the infant died after 47/48 minutes. It scarred her so much that she was afraid if she ever had to go through that pain again, she'll die.

Eventually when they coparented Leo & Betty, Amelia started opening up to the possibility that she too could be a mother.

After their final breakup when Amelia told Owen she was pregnant with Link's child, Owen was angry & devastated that she was ready to become a mother but she didn't care for him or how that one aspect destroyed their marriage.

That day a patient came in who opted for an abortion and had valid reasons. But Owen was acting out.

So Amelia took some time & told him that they had a lot of problems still she was grateful because he too helped her heal. Him allowing her into Leo's life gave her courage & she'll always be grateful to him for that. He was justified in despising her.

But their patient had nothing to do with it & she didn't deserve to be Owen's punching bag.

So finally Owen took a breath, apologized to both Amelia & the patient & genuinely wished the best for Amelia & Link.

Sorry for the long recap but that's how a doctor should be - knowing from personal experience and their interaction with patients that there is no ultimate solution for all problems which in this case is a baby.

But as usual.....

Plus there are pros and cons, like mdkd what I liked is all friends gave reality check to others, not like fanning some nonsense. Even d3 had that.

One of the things that I thoroughly enjoy - friends calling out on friends about their hypocrisy. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Ye toh pura pagal pan tha. Oh Ramesh Bhau is an exception, he always gives reality checks to Sarang. Even Kavya on bits I saw was quite sensible!

That's cool. Waise, Kavya abhi bhi hain ya patta kat gaya uska?

BTW, tumne meri Mahabharat padhi Kya? On KD? 🙈🙈🙈

Ofc it's not end of the world, 🤣🤣🤣

But I currently don't have time to see it. True! I don't exactly know, but from Twitter I just could understand all characters have some back stories and have arcs, which was a pleasant surprise!!

Not to compare but show seemed very monotonous otherwise, and nothing new... Compared to s9mk which promised to be so new, but actually turned monotonous! Kya over sympathy kar di hai, and which writer becomes a driver?! Like at least research on corporate world before showing some pagal pan!

Rabia, totally agree!! Interesting reference, and that's the way it is. Yaha toh...

Bichari hai abhi bhi to make S realise his love for Alia🙈🙊

Hoping she gets to do more though.

Yes, wrote a post.

So here I come with my BAKBAK on Kusum Dola - The original version of GHKPM

Let's start with the glaringly obvious fault of the show that pissed the crap out of me - that is the premise itself, Rono (ML) giving his words to Rupkotha that he'll never love another woman in his life.

This one promise & his continuous oscillation between Rup & Emon (FL) is what makes my blood boil.

Now coming to the good part -

I absolutely love the casting of the show. Be it Rishi Kaushik (Rono), Aparajita Ghosh Das (Rup) or Madhumita (Emon) - the actors actually seems like custom made. All three of them had done enough work specially Rishi & Aparajita are seasoned actors & it really looked good on the screen. I personally have become a fan of Aparajita. Even when she is the third angle, I have literally cried on particular scenes because the actress was brilliant in portraying her emotions.

Secondly, in front of them, Madhumita actually looks a lot younger (which she is). So in certain episodes when Rono or Rup lashed out at Emon saying she was still young & immature, it didn't look odd.

Now the overall characteristics. I am absolutely loving it that not just the three protagonists but even the some of the supporting characters are grey. Primary example - Rono's mother, Badsha (Samrat of Ghum) & Rono's cousin cum best friend Anirban. They are very rational & play a huge part in driving the narration ahead.

Coming to Rono, one thing I love about him is that he is not another Sanskari Kumar. He grew up watching his parents always fight & he himself is quiet introvert & moody. On several occasions when he loses his cool on Emon, it doesn't look like or at least to me that he has taken a 180 degree flip or his Sanskar is only reserved for his family members. He stands by Emon when she is right but also makes it clear to her that even though her intentions are good, very often she gets hyper & it wouldn't be the end of the world if she tried to make good relation with his family members too. Unnecessary fight wasn't essential even if they struck a deal that he'll divorce her when she'll establish her career.

Secondly, his sympathy. Very often we are treated with scenes like when the leads look at each other & realize how good looking they are. Even here they showed it. But I liked his monologue because he felt pity for a mere 18 years old girl who just lost her father, got married to him & then she had to wear saree & jewelry, as if in one day the little girl had to become mature because of society. And that's the first time he acknowledged the girl was indeed pretty & felt embarrassed for looking at her that way.

Thirdly, he is very human. At points he lashed out, said stuff for which any mainstream ML would be severely bashed, rightfully so but the next moment he would apologize stating the real reason that he felt jealous or his male ego was hurt & he would try not to repeat it.

He actually confessed to Rup that it was a mistake when he gave her his words because he never thought he would have to get married under such circumstances. It was one thing not to think about anyone but having a wife & sharing their lives, certain amount of attachment was formed & he couldn't help it.

Coming to Rupkotha, this is a character I feel the most sorry for. But at the same time there is fundamental flaw there. Even if Rono backed out saying he couldn't marry her, she never should have got married to his brother. Specially when her own parents constantly tried to put some sense into her head that they were in love & Rono might believe he would keep his word but ultimately he would move on. At that point only she will suffer. She is a vamp but in a dignified way. Her poise or the way she instigated the leads it was awesome.

My only regret is even when Rono made it clear to her that he fell in love with Emon, she still kind of hang on to him which made me both annoyed and sympathetic towards her.

But despite her so many flaws when she accused Rono of not knowing himself properly & ruining her life - I could feel her pain. That scene where Badsha put sindoor on her forehead & she broke down - I actually cried.

Lastly to Emon, no matter how problematic the premise is, give me one such FL & I'll watch your show. Yes she had to have some essential FL like qualities like helping others and caring for the family members but the way she shut everyone up - it's mind blowing.

I absolutely loved the scene where he told Rono that he was the one who insulted her the most. Even if they got married for a few years, telling your wife that you are committed to another woman & then living with the same person in the same house - that's the worst type of insult a girl can face.

Her outbursts that Rono never should have given her father a false word when he had other responsibilities was mind blowing.

In fact in one episode she confronted him saying personally she admired Rup because she didn't feign anything. She expressed whatever she felt unlike him who couldn't decide whom did she love and where did his loyalty belong.

Her constant flipping as in one hand she didn't want to indulge with Rono but also feeling extremely annoyed that Rono & Rup were always very open & Rono made their deal clear to Rup, her sense of honor & also her vulnerability - these things made me like her a lot.

And she is OTT in a lot of ways. At points she did worsen the matters even when Rono clearly told her he loved her - it kind of went with her character because after all she was really young to understand everything.

All I can say is, the flaws of all three characters fascinated me. But I really wish they had ended the show with the confession episode. With another 400 episodes, they only repeated the same story.

On a side note, there's a musical episode. It's actually the Fresher's Reception at Emon's college & she performs there. I don't think the actress is a trained dancer & hence I loved the choreography. They actually focused on the dancing of the other characters & when it came to Emon, they largely focused on her expression. So kudos to the makers/choreographers.

The trick Emon played on Rono's elders to make them attend her function - it was childish but I laughed like a lunatic the entire episode seeing their reaction.

Whoaa! That's a nice long Mahabharat indeed 😆

Anyways, I'm kinda intrigued by this show on the basis of your description.

Frankly speaking, I have zero idea of the show, the characters and the actors so, I'll not say anything regarding that.

But going by your description, the three leads definitely seem to be awesome... and their characters too seem to have a proper arc. I love this fact.

About the FL, I absolutely agree with you that with such a FL, I myself can watch any show... no matter how much problematic the premise is.

The ML and the other lady too seem to have a nice character arc.

Loved to know about the antagonist too... I love to see vamps who are dignified. And glad to hear that she too has some amount of character arc.

Of course! It's so long & the characters have taken so many flips that even I got confused at the beginning ki yeh chal kya raha hain?

It ended in 2018

I agree that it should have been ended crisply, majority of shows fail here when they don't know where to draw the line!

True! 😒 😒 😒

The ending was beautiful. In fact, I am one of those GAPs who watches the last scene of a movie or read the last page of a novel at the beginning. 😛

I guess that's a really big reason that I sympathize with Rup so much despite her crossing limits multiple times. 🤔 Plus, read some discussion in Ghum Forum & those who watched KD, some of them did mention Rup was complex & they felt sympathy for her. So I guess it's a combined action. 😆 😆 😆

The last episode was amazing but personally I feel it is Aparajita who carried that episode.

Ofc it's not end of the world, 🤣🤣🤣

😆 😆 😆

Understandable.

In fact, the one reference I gave in the KD post - post wedding ritual. Some were saying the Tamil version was better as the ML was mesmerized seeing the FL but Rono didn't.

After I watched the scene, I was like - isse jyada woh react hi kya karta! 😲 😲 😲 Should he just fall in love with her in that moment only & jump into the bed? 🤬 🤬 🤬

Whoaa! That's a nice long Mahabharat indeed 😆

Yeah, I have written a lot. 🤪

How I wish Hotstar had English subtitle! Then I would have definitely shared some scenes with you. Specially the Nritya-Natika.

Emon's plan & eldres' reaction to it was just hilarious. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Anyways, I'm kinda intrigued by this show on the basis of your description.

Frankly speaking, I have zero idea of the show, the characters and the actors so, I'll not say anything regarding that.

Well, even I had no idea about it. And as I said, found the premise itself really questionable. Plus, I hardly enjoy Kolkata Bangla shows. This I tried because of Madhura & I had a discussion on Ghum and when I learned about Madhumita playing the lead, I wanted to watch it. 😳

But going by your description, the three leads definitely seem to be awesome... and their characters too seem to have a proper arc. I love this fact.

Yeah! I wish they hadn't kheechofied the show so much. I feel they degraded the characters later going by the WiKi synopsis. But I am yet to watch it. It'll take me a really long time considering my exam is in next month & the show had 731 episodes. FF karke bhi kuch zyada faida ho nahi raha hain. 🤔

About the FL, I absolutely agree with you that with such a FL, I myself can watch any show... no matter how much problematic the premise is.

Me too! It's not like she didn't cross her limit yet there is something about her that's different. Probably because she wasn't actively plotting but was rather reacting to the situation which is very human. I do feel for Rono, it was more of infatuation but Rupkotha really loved him. 😭 😭 😭

But at least they all had a happy ending with the last episode being amazingly beautiful. Aparajita totally nailed it. 👏 👏 👏

Fun fact, I was going through WiKi & found out she and Rishi had starred in a Star Jalsha show called Ekhane Akash Nil. I guess it was pretty successful as they have rebooted the show. Their fans must have rejoiced when they began KD but then... 🤔

Precisely. In fact, I had one such round of discussion a few days ago & went into gloomy mode. That's another reason I took a short sanyas because couldn't decide whether I was being biased or my friend was & temporarily lost the interest in discussion. 😒 😒 😒

Obsession with certain characters is just too much sometimes. And these days it's like kuch bhi ho ML ko blame karo. Going by some discussion in Ghum, the ML was being bashed. But if they took the original route then I would say, somewhere along the line, even he was justified as I said, the FL was spunky but unnecessarily OTT.

But then again, we shouldn't really comment without watching. From whatever little I have seen, they are copying 90% of the original version until now but none of the characters are that grey as the originals. Rather they have shoved Sanskari Kumar ML again to generate sympathy. So it's not as appealing to me as the original.

But grandeur is on a whole new level. 👍🏼The marriage episode itself proves it. 👍🏼

I kind of want to watch the Hindi version of Nritya-Natika. 😳
