I wouldn't give kunal benefit of the doubt here because although he initially didn't know about nishant's addiction, he didn't accept his mistake and apologize. He realized his fault only after abir pointed it out. In fact I think he probably would've never told anyone about his crime if mishti hadn't found out about it

Later he also badmouthed mishbir, especially mishti during the surrogacy track and sided with his wife
