Chapter 23
“Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance deceives many;
the intelligence of a few perceives what has been carefully hidden.”
Kailash Rai Singhania had been the bane of her life for the longest time. The only man no the only other person besides Vansh in this house who has the power to destroy her. The one person who is aware of her few of many deepest darkest secrets, not all of them yet powerful enough to ruin her along with her plans. He is merely tolerating her but till when? Only to a certain point. At times it feels the day isn’t far away when he himself will kick her out of the house and no one will be able to help her. It is also because of him that her years of planning and plotting hadn’t bored any fruits to date besides Vansh. And now much to her despise he is here and is going to be here for a long time.
Given an opportunity, she would have very much liked no she would have loved to get rid of him permanently from her life never to return. She would have shipped him off to another continent with no return but alas. As if here problems weren’t enough that Ragini was back from dead. For some godforsaken stupid reason, Kabir instead of getting rid of that nuisance for good has decided to use her against Vansh to dig out his secrets that could be used against if not could be manipulated to use against him? Seriously Ragini?
Coming to Riddhima she wasn’t sure about that girl, in the beginning, considering she was too naive to be able to pull off anything in these games we play. Then slowly the girl proved how beneficial she can be her naivety, innocence, pure heart, and sense of justice is what made it easy to manipulate her. Riddhima was nothing but an emotional fool orphan and one reason why she was perfect for this task as she was an orphan and oh so loyal. Due to her loyalty even if she would have got caught she wouldn't have uttered Kabir’s name with who she was in love with even though she fell in love with Vansh later on yet Kabir was a friend and an old accomplice. While her being an orphan was an advantage for us even if she would have died in this game no one would have come looking after her or enquiring about things means no mess to worry about after her death.
While this Ragini was a different game all together she wasn’t innocent like Riddhima she is a clever girl. Though she has it in her to pull things off yet is not trustworthy. The only good thing here was her love and obsession for Kabir. Then again she isn’t really sure about her feelings for Kabir now and Vansh how does he fit in here? Is she with him to get to his secrets or she wants him for himself? However, they can deal with these two girls later on for now greater concern is this Kailash Rai Singhania. She needs to do something and fast.
Anupriya was lost in her thoughts mussing when her mobile phone rang and displaying the name of her son. Taking up the call she said
“Yes, Kabir”
“Mom its Ragini”
Kabir answered in a tensed voice and continued a little frustrated
“She has found something but is refusing to divulge anything until and unless I tell her the name of the person who shot the bullet at her. Going by her tone and confidence it is something that can help us removing Vansh from our way. Some people who betrayed Vansh in the past are bearing the brunt of his rage and knowing Vansh he must have done something to ignite hatred in their hearts for him. If nothing else we can use their hatred against him to put him behind bars. These will do anything to take their revenge on Vansh good for us but to reach them I need to tell Ragini the name of the person who tried to kill her. What do I do?”
Leaving Anupriya tensed. This little hurdle can’t stop them. An opportunity like this may not present itself in front of them again. Taking a long breath and deep sigh she said
“Kabir listen to me very carefully”

A man was walking in a secluded place with a tensed body and a determined look in his eyes. Reaching a dark room only light coming from an open window from outside from the moon he saw a figure was standing near the window. Turning around looks at the man who entered, moves forward and standing in front of him, and said
“Sorry for being late but why here?”
Only to get a look with raised eyebrows from the person and said
“Right”
Nodding his head in understanding
“So what news do you have Inspector Mohan?”
Asked the human
“It was Anupriya who changed the files”
Mohan told the person standing on the other side of the room in dark shadows
“Please tell if there is something of significance not about kitchen politics. Please do not take it as an insult in any way. Though this information is appreciated but not what I am looking for. You are a smart man so you wouldn’t have come this far to inform me this. So let’s cut the chase and come straight to the juicy stuff”
Said the person rubbing both its hand together with a smirk on its face and glint in the eye making inspector Mohan have a smirk of his own who continued with
“Kailash Rai Singhania was threatening her apparently he is also aware of her son InspectorKabir. I heard them talking he came to know about her being the culprit here and warned her too. The way they were talking one thing is clear Anupriya is scared of him and knows few of her hidden secrets”
“Hmmm, all right keep an eye on her soon she will make a mistake and try to plot against Kailash Rai Singhania be prepared. Also, keep an eye on Kailash Rai Singhania as well there is more to him that is hidden from everyone. I don’t know what all though he seems to be a man of high morals with consciousness yet at the end of the day he is also a Rai Singhania one can’t really trust them. He is smarter than the rest of the Rai Singhania clan so beware and stay alert. At no cost let him or anyone in the family doubt you.”
The figure said with a stern tone. Mohan frown and said
“But it could be something minimal or personal or nothing at all.”
The person started moving into the room and continued with
“Even after knowing about Anupriya he hadn’t taken actions against him but then it also depends how much and to what extent he knows about her.”
Hearing the person in front of him Mohan said
“Kailash Rai Singhania is the only sensible person in the family in all these days whatever I have seen and observed of him he really seems to be a nice person”
“True but still be alert better be safe than sorry. If not for anything else than for his safety keep an eye on him. Also what about Kabir? Had you planted anyone on to him? I want to know of his every move even before he thinks of it. He already had created enough mess don’t want him to go on a rampage unmonitored now we?”
The individual asked with its head bent on one side looking at him with a light-hearted smirk
“Oh yes someone he would never doubt,”
Mohan replied with a smirk and continues saying
“We have been on him for a while now though little late but we are after him. Soon something interesting might come our way just give me a little more time.”
Getting the not Mohan leaves the body to go near the window and stand looking at the moon.

She was walking in her room for the past hour. It’s been two days since she talked with Kabir. She knew that Kabir knows of the person responsible for what happened with her three years ago. She knew how desperate he is to take Vansh down and now when an opportunity has been presented itself to him why is he taking time? He will call her back she was sure about it but when? She is somewhat sure he trying to save the person? Is he involved in it someway or what if yes then to what extent? Whatever it is she’ll get to know soon.
Thinking about all these questions Ragini sat on her bed just when her phone rang. She picks it up without looking at the caller.
“Hi, Ragini. Are you there?”
came Kabir’s voice from another end.
With a roll of her eyes, Ragini answered
“Yes, Kabir. Please don’t waste both of our time. I won’t say a word till you open your mouth and tell me who shot me.”
“That’s why I called you.”
Kabir said hurriedly cutting off Ragini in between and continued saying
“Kailash Rai Singhania. He was the one who shot you.”
“Excuse me. I told you no lies, Kabir. I warned”
Ragini said threateningly to him when he beseechingly continued and said
“I am not lying Ragini.”
Now angry Ragini asked him
“Shut the trap, Kabir. Why would he do that?”
While Kabir continues with his desperate lies trying to misguide her and says
“That’s because he does not like you. Come on Ragini you tried to betray his beloved nephew back then. He must have hated you for it and even now he isn’t a fan of you. It’s Riddhima whom he favours to not you. Think about it Ragini you are no fool that man is damn protective about his family and Vansh he is his favourite nephew. He would do anything for his well being.”
Hearing him Ragini gets lost in her own thoughts
Though Kailash Rai Singhania is a man of conscious and morals yet Kabir isn’t entirely off the mark. Mr Rai Singhania is indeed very protective about his folks. Now even if she believes Kabir and Kailash Uncle indeed pullet the bullet at her three years ago than he can very much do it now as well. Especially after what she has done and might or might not do in future.
The way everyone in this house targets Riddhima is not hidden from anyone. Things aren’t going to be any different for herself if not worse Ishani already tried to harm her. At least Riddhima had Dadi and Sia’s support wholeheartedly and even Vansh and Angre were there for her in their own ways. While for herself no one wants her to be there except for Vansh no one is going to be her support not that Ragini herself is any less.
She is not an overly nice person like Riddhima for others to play with her. She has learnt her lesson from the mistakes last time not going to be repeated thank you very much. Whatever she will do, will do it for herself on her own terms. Then again Kabir is an expert and one of the best manipulators she has come across in her life one can’t really trust him.
Rubbing her forehead
“I need time to think Kabir. I will talk to you later.”
saying so she cuts the call off.

On the other hand, Kabir prayed that the arrow that he had shot in the dark reaches on target. Kabir remembered what his mother said when he called her.
Flashback
“Kabir listen to me very carefully,”
Anupriya said making Kabir attentive and continued saying
“Kabir I have a plan. You take Kailash’s name in front of Ragini. Convince her that it was he who pulled the trigger and shot a bullet at her 3 years ago. That man had been troubling me. I just need to get him out of this house, out of my life anyhow. Do this and both of our problems would be solved.”
Flashback Ends
If Ragini believed him both his and his mother’s problem will be solved. Two of the major roadblocks would be taken care of as for Riddhima she is anyways going to leave that house soon and now she is of no use to him anyway. So whatever happens with her is no concern of his. Of course, it won’t be easy so try to convince Ragini and him along with his mother might need to present some false proofs to prove Kailash Rai Singhania culprit. Ragini if convinced won’t be able to say anything in front of Vansh or anyone for that matter.
No one is going to believe her even if she opened her mouth and she knows it how much everyone respects that man in that house. Knowing Ragini she won’t stay quiet either. She will try something up and even if for a short while she indeed manages to send that man away from the house their job will be done. They will get time to implement their plans. They are too near to their goal to let things go now. He can only hope he hasn’t made any mistake by letting Riddhima go and trusting Ragini with this.
Kabir though lost deep in his thoughts sitting on his office chair.

These days had been hectic not just for him but for every male member of this family. He along with Vansh, Angre, Aryan and Rudra bhaiya had been working their ass off for this Randhawa construction project. This project is very important for them not just for their company but also for their reputation which took a hit because of that file fiasco all thanks to that headache of a woman Mrs Anupriya Rai Singhania. Kailash thought with an eye roll at Anupruya’s name.
Given things did not go as par him had left to him he would have never let that vile woman anywhere near this house but alas things and especially life does not always go according to one's whims now do they?
Gathering some files and dismissing his thoughts about the certain someone he left for Vansh’s office room.
“Kailash are you going to Vansh?”
He stopped hearing his brother Rudra Rai Singhania’s voice and turning around towards him replied
“Yes bhaiya why?”
Rudra forwarded some files towards him and asked
“Then can you please get these files signed by him?”
“Sure”
Kailash said taking files from his hands with a smile and left while Rudra kept looking at him with a smirk and an unreadable expression his face.
Reaching Vansh’s office room’s door he knocked, getting a reply from his nephew he entered with a smile.
“Chachu please come in.”
Vansh said offering him a chair in front of him and said
“You should have called me”
Making himself comfortable at the chair offered to him, he forwarded some files to him and said
“I need your signatures in some of these files and these are files sent by Bhai for your signatures.”
Taking files away from him he signed those papers without reading them
“At least read them beta. One should never sign papers without reading them. At least not a businessman like you should be needed for me teaches such trivial things.”
Kailash said chiding him in annoyance
“I trust you chachu”
Vansh replied with an eye roll only to get a smile at him in return.
“Vansh, can I ask you something?”
“Yes, chachu”
replies Vansh
“Why do you trust Ragini so much while for Riddhima you never really trusted her enough? I won’t ask you why you love her and not Riddhima because love and heart are those things that do not work with logic. Though trust it needs a base it’s built with time and takes efforts. Ragini had betrayed you once and yet you readily trust her again without her making any efforts as much.
I am sorry if you feel I am out of line here and interfering in your personal matters. Though son I really care for you and won’t want you to be hurt again by the same woman. Last time it was on her this time if she betrays you it will be your own fault because you gave her that chance without her earning it.
I am not saying that you go on doubting her at the drop of a hat but at least stay alert and don’t give your heart and trust to her so readily.”
Smiling at Vansh, Kailash stood up then tapping his shoulder he said
“You are a smart man Vansh think about what I said to you.”
and left from there leaving Vansh in his thoughts to ponder over words said by his beloved chachu.

Sitting here on the swing with the woman beside him who had betrayed him in the past yet he felt sorry for her whenever he thinks about what happened to her three years ago. Agreed he loved her but the love she held for Kabir was way intense than his for her rather she had been obsessed with Kabir to an extent that his betrayal made her lose her mental balance then getting shot by an unknown person. However, she had been exceptionally quiet tonight. So trying to get her attention he asked
“What are thinking about?”
Turning towards him Ragini asked surprising him
“What do you think about Riddhima and what do you plan about her? Why did you marry her if you never loved her?”
“Ummm well I a... I don’t know. Riddhima is a nice girl Ragini. I am sorry but her and my relation is something I won’t allow even you to interfere with. Though I understand you must feel and have your own insecurities regarding her but let me assure you there is nothing for you to worry about.”
Saying so Vansh tries to hug her with a smile on his face only for Ragini to go away from him and looking on the other side making his smile falter a bit he continues
“Riddhima is someone who had been equal to me. From the day I met her she stood up to me I liked her guts. She used to challenge me in ways she still does. One thing I admire and respect her for is her pure heart and her inner strength.”
Vansh said getting lost in memories remembering the moment he met her for the first time on his beach party with a smile forming on his face. There was fire literally between them he remembered how that little creature answered him back with tall claims that owner of the party liked the decors without realizing it to be him. Vansh thought while Ragini was observing him with sharp eyes.
“So tell me Vansh what did you do with Rane and his minions?”
Ragini asked him with a tight smile and for the first time, Vansh had a slight doubt at her and her intentions.
