@Anam, I'd like to try Sarah Maas and a novel from Margaret Atwood (not poems, they go over my head). And I'm definitely going to read The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan, but I'm not sure if I will manage it next year. There are 3 other books in the series before this and another entire series that I have to read before I can get to this book.

❓Question: Are you guys planning to set a New Year's Reading Resolution❓

Mine is reading out more Indian language books (preferably classics) and trying out two new genres (mythology and Sci-Fi).

@Diya: Haha, I still am a victim of the 'Familiar Author Vortex'. It's so difficult for me to branch out of my comfort zone when it comes to reading. 🤔

@Shanam: Are you done with Crazy Rich Asians? If I finish my current audiobook, I might also give it a listen.

I prefer complete silence but nowadays I listen to rain sounds while reading. But, like Diya said, the noise inside the head disturbs my focus more. 😆 I can't read at all if there's too much on my mind.

@Anam: I have only read House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas, The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black and I am currently reading From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout.

I am interested in Elizabeth Acevedo's books in general. Mexican Gothic is on my immediate tbr, it sounds so intriguing. The only reason why I didn't pick it up earlier was because I wanted the hype to die down. I heard a lot about The Vanishing Half so I am interested in that too.

I was disappointed with the book, tbh. I went into it with high expectations but I didn't like it that much. I loved the concept of the book but I thought it could have been better executed. I couldn't connect to the characters at all. The entire story was too predictable, and by that I mean I could tell what was going to happen only a couple of chapters in. Those two things put me off any book. The only parts I liked were the three stories the monster told. Another unpopular opinion from me, I guess. 😆

Yes, that's what I'm trying now: to try out new authors and genres. I've also planned for next year😛:

1. I really want to try out a classic from Sci-Fi. I was thinking about picking one of these: the Foundation series, hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, George Orwell's works, The Time Machine, The Martian.

2. I've also kept at least one Hindi novel and several short stories in my goal for the next year.

3. Mythology: The Iliad, Robert Graves' The Greek Myths.

With these goals, I think I'm going to set my next year's goal at 10. Even that seems like a huge feat.🤪

@Bold: 🥺

I am happy at least you liked the three stories the monster told. 😆

The Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov, right? That's on my tbr too! I have heard so much of praise for how brilliantly he incorporates AIs into his stories.

Regarding your question, I have no such resolutions as of yet. I have certain books that I definitely want to get to next year and that's about it. I do want to read a lot more memoirs coming year.

Oh yes sometimes I go into my own thoughts while reading and lose focus, then I have to re read the chapter to know whats going on😆

@mayashika I don't know how many chapters there are in total. I am on chapter 14 rn.

@diya I want to read more classics this year. Atleast 5. Listen to audiobooks more. I want to control reading ; not the other way around.

@unique.sheep I have read the unhoneymooners. It's hilarious and worth a read.

Yes! And you should definitely read it... It's so much of fun and plays with a lot of tropes excellently I still haven't gotten over the couple! ❤️
