We shouldn't expect any logic here. Malhar is in cloud of rage. So he won't see anything clearly until diary truth is revealed.

I have low expectations for any sort of redemption track or proper apology. But I am 100% sure, like in S1, we'll get to see a track where he almost loses Kalyani. This is the typical MU cycle in ITV.

Also, now, I'm sure there is something upcoming with Kalyani professional life and her DM job. Again and again CVS keep bringing it up. I think the next new entry will be a professional enemy. Chances are there for a blackmailer.
