I think they all refer to his education/qualification of being a Barrister rather than him practicing it. Agar koi medical padta hai toh we call them Dr. na atleast yun hi talks mein whether they practice or not

Moreover It was clearly shown once ki Binoy had asked him about starting his practice and Ani declined. Even Princi said he was supposed to become top ka barrister but krantikari bana hua hai.
