Let's face it, Alia was never the prototype of a No. 1 actress. She lacked grace, finesse, beauty, dancing skills and acting skills were just about bearable. Nothing to write home about.
I think the backlash she has faced will impact her career and her peak (if it can be called that) is over. No amount of curated films will help her cause.
I think it's time a new actress will take over from where Deepika left off. An all-rounder, someone who is good at everything. I doubt anyone can do this while Deepika is still around, but still I think it's time a new star is born, someone who has the skills which a Madhuri or Deepika had.
Frankly, my hopes are pinned on Manushi. She fulfills every criteria so far except the main one - acting skills, and we just have to wait and watch to see if she posses this skill, or at least if she has the capacity to improve, like Deepika had.
There is no-one else on the horizon except a Tripti Dimri, but she lacks connections and the ability to network, as she herself said in an interview. This will cost her dearly.
