I think it is bases on their Childhood. Prachi yearns to be with her father and the person who was closest to that figure was Abhi. Barring the idiotic outburst recently, Abhi has often supported Prachi while his own family was against that. That sort of support coming from a stranger really meant something to Prachi.

While Ranbir was loved and supported by his parents so he is able to reason out when they are being unreasonable or trying to guilt him.

He is assertive and knows how to handle stuff. He is emotionally very mature although he appears to be childish😃

He sort of balances Prachi's emotional immaturity at times😆
