It would have been dhokebaazi if he had chosen Rubina over Nikki or Abhinav over Rahul. He clearly said tum teeno ek dusre ko leke out honaao hum dekhlenge kisse captain banna hai. His loyalty preference is Jaan>rahul>Niki. toh khud keliye bhi na khele banda.
