hi i just wanted to give my 2 cents on the regressive/progressive theme of KZK2. Back when KZK1, KGGK, KSBBT etc came on they were called progressive because they were women centric. at that time it wasn't common for women to have a voice, opinions, self-confidence or the option of moving on from a marriage etc. in spite of how her shows were i.e the story or themes, the females were the focus & the driving force behind the narrative. that wasn't the norm therefore they were termed progressive.

i admit that nowadays the content of all shows are almost identical, they consist of the same, couple's separating & uniting for umpteenth times with a misogynistic ML 🙄 so the multiple marriages plot they decided to go with was doomed from the start 🙄

she dropped the ball in terms of the characterisation of Prerna. she wanted to correct her mistakes, only she knows what they were but I'm guessing it had to do with Anurag's character & the emphasis on AnuPre's love story. (i won't talk about the love aspect, it's done to death 😒). in the process of making Anu's character the focus of KZK the CV's completely ignored Prerna. there was no consistentency at all, one minute she was sassy & threatning Komo & the next...nothing . her importance was in relation to Anu & that's all 🙄 she was never given an identity outside of being 1 half of AnuPre 😒

for a show set in the modern times there was nothing modern about Prerna. she had no goals outside of marrying Anu or marrying to save Anu. i mean they could have given her career aspirations as well. Erica's forte is playing a stronger, sassy character, she's weaker in emotional scenes IMO, but they hardly utilised this at all. being a character of a loving nature doesn't mean you have to be meek, submissive & dumb. the makers never invoked any sympathy or empathy for her from the audience. even her pain as a mother was turned into a joke 🙄 it's shameful & sad. Prerna's identity was constantly sacrificed in favour of Anu or any other character.

for e.g they could have allowed her to stand up for herself & become a strong single mother or fight & be sassy against RB in the marriage or come bank for revenge as Prerna Sharma instead of Prerna Bajaj 🙄. a better ending would have been if she forgave Anu but refused to trust him & Anu would have promised to gain both her trust & love again. this would have been a nice reset & do justice for everything Prerna went through.

All this made her a very regressive heroine & unrelatable to the audience. this was a huge part of why KZK2 didn't work as well as expected, IMO.

Well said 🤣

@oa , it's clear that whatever she had set out to show in kzk2, was never really there..I mean..I am a fan of this woman , she impresses me ..hence I refuse to believe that she dished out such a shitty piece of narrative. There must be other reasons that narrative was changed , n I guess ..it changed every week.

As you said it , most imp factor , she never gave any character to prerna. Circling the story around anurag was a bad bad bad idea...prerna was the fulcrum in this particular story. If she had to do it , at least make anurag strong but she never did it. The story circled around komo and komo alone post bajaj#1 exit.

found this old article for rajeev quitting kahin to hoga

Interview of Rajeev ,Reasons for leaving

Q : Are u leaving this serial for real this time?

Yes.And why?

Ans : To tell you the truth, I have been asked to leave.

Q : Reason?

Ans :I need logic that will explain what I am doing in the serial and why I am doing so. There is no logic being offered. I can't work like a robot. I am an actor who works by conviction. My character has clicked because I have kept myself very close to Sujal.

Q : So?

Ans : Time and again, I have differed with the scenes which have been written for me. I just don't seem to agree with most of the things handed out to me.

Q : But you can sit across the table and thrash out these issues?

Ans : It's not happening. I tried my best. When I came back last time, I thought things would change. I gave it another try. But almost every time, I was told to toe the line. I asked them to throw me out. Finally they said, "No more of your questions." 15 May is my last date of shooting.

Q : It's said that you are insecure. You are ruffled by the footage given to Akshat, Swayam and Rishi…

Ans : Rishi and Akshat were there earlier too. There has never been any problem between us. We play squash, badminton and even hang out together at times.

Q : It's also said that you don't give dates to 'KTH'?

Ans : Ever since I signed Ketan Mehta's serial, Balaji and I had an understanding that I will give 12 days each to both shows. I have not gone back on that.

Q : Going back to your complaint. Do you think it's easy to explain the logic of every scene to every actor? I mean, you know the hectic pace at which Indian television functions?

Ans : Then please tell me why six creatives (creative directors) have been appointed. Just to get fat salaries? (pauses).

Q : Go on...

Ans : Listen to this one. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. There was a scene where I will barge in from Tokyo and slap Kashish. Reason? Because I feel that my mother has suffered an accident since she told her about my father's first marriage with Akshat's mother. But do you know how I get to know it? When I land up in the hospital and hear my dad talking to his himself that 'kaash Kashish ne Veena ko nahin bataya hota'. How can somebody hear what the other person is saying in his mind? (pauses).

Q : Uh huh?

Ans : There's another scene where they said that the first thing I would do after coming back from Tokyo is call up my father. I cannot digest that. In the serial, I have virtually no equation with my dad. I objected. The Creatives were called. Finally, they understood my perspective. Now, my dad will call me up as soon as I land in India. But do you know that the journey from Tokyo to Mumbai is shown to be done in just one hour?

Q : But does your dad know that you are coming back from Tokyo, that he calls you up?

Ans : No, he does not. Don't question me on logics any further.

Q : What if your good friend Aamna requests you to return?

Ans : Aamna will not request. She didn't last time either. She is a thorough professional and we don't interfere in our work areas.

Q : What if Shobhaji and Jeetuji call you back?

Ans : I respect them a lot. But this time I am firm. I am out of 'KTH' and I think this is a promise.

Q : But promises are meant to be broken, Mr Khandelwal?

Q : I returned once. Yeh koi khel nahin. Yeh koi masti nahin. Bahut Ho Gaya. But yes, if I realise that the system here can kill an actor if he walks out of a certain production house and a certain channel, I might decide to return.

Q : So, you have just one serial in your kitty now, Ketan Mehta's show coming up on Zee?

Ans : True. But so what? I am not playing a safe game here.

Q : You did a pilot for a serial by Anubhav Sinha. Has it been passed?

Ans : I have no intimation on that. It's a good comedy show. I may do it, I may not. Let's see.

Q : Are you trying to hint that you are now looking at films?

Ans : No. The truth is that I don't know what I'll do. I am simply blank

And the history repeated with Parth 🤣

The only difference is that, from her past experiences, EK learned a lesson that actors who have belief in themselves cannot be stopped by anyone and that she herself will need them later in her projects. Good going Parthuu. 👏

Finally I m happy with the fact that kzk ended in 2 year only.Bcoz otherwise parica would have struck with one character for years with absolutely no progrssion and no diversification.

This is blessing in disguise for parica to go for better future projects instead of being struck with useless story for years.

The interview itself is a testimony that Rajeev was really pissed off at the creatives, six creative heads and zero logic in the male lead actions. I'm just so glad he left the show when it was required, he earned my respect for having the balls to quit the show at his prime.

And yes slapping kashish, well whoever has watched the show, they know that Sujal was someone who would never physically hit a woman, and that too kashish who was like his oxygen, and the same writers took a 360 degree u-turn and made him slap kashish 😖

Parth should have quit once they narrated the bridge track to him, it was the butchering of highest order, yes it's a blessing in disguise that the show ended.

It could have been a perfect angst track, only if, the writers had seen their own show. Prerna yearning to hate Anurag and failing miserably. Anurag suffering with the guilt of having pushed Prerna down the bridge and out of his life, struggling to ask about his child.

But bakwaas tashan, filler characters like Kaushik Kukki and nonsensical tracks like Nivi ne Bajaj ko kaise seduce karna hai, inse fursat milti to na.

Whoever or whatever pushed the show towards closure has really done a great service to all. All actors seems to be happier and fans too. EK, please concentrate on supernatural/web shows - if you want to make remakes please hire writers first, not these set par story likhne waale people. Also since I am dishing free advice to EK, people want decent story-telling, fans or fan wars don't get TRP. Use your marketing prowess to sell stories.

I don't think there will be any improvement from her side regarding her writers. The line that made me go 🤣 in the above Rajeev's IV, along with that insecure question is,'please tell me why six creatives (creative directors) have been appointed. Just to get fat salaries?'. I am now feeling more respect towards Rajeev, HC and now Parth, who had the guts to say a no to EK when they realized that working for long in her daily shows will not give them that creative satisfaction. I hope Eri too would have put down the papers for the same reason.
