Dehydration & Debauchery
She really had no reason to look at him, make eye contactgreet him or talk to him, so she did not.
“Aapki behen ko ghani ulti hui hai” the help explained
“Abhi ghar pe hai?” she asked worried
“So gayi dikhe hai” he said
The house was beautiful
The sparkling white marble under the feet felt like she waswalking on ice
She took her footwear off by the door even though she wasnot asked to
He took her up a winding staircase, Raanav stood unperturbedin the hallway and stared up as she made her way up
Naina was fast asleep in a gorgeous room with billowingcurtains and multiple fans, bottles of beverages sat by her bed. It looked likesomeone else “had been sharing her bed”
“Wow” Viveka gasped as her eyes tried to adjust to thedarkened room
“Aapke waste kya laayen sahib?” he asked
“Kuch nahi, bas paani” she smiled
The guy bend down and did a wave of his arm and left
“Appropriate salutation for the masters” she chuckled
She used the restroom and washed up, and stepped out to gowake her sister, there was no fever, Thank God!
Her forehead felt cool to touch
Naina woke startled
“Are you coming?” she cooed
Viveka laughed
Naina opened her eyes groggy
“OMG… Veev…” she sat up
“Hello SIS” Viveka smiled
“Did you start driving as soon as Inder told you?” she satup, she was wearing Inder’s tee
If there was any doubt about a septuagenarian “Dadisa” had nursedher to health overnight… well that quickly flew out the window
“How was he in bed?” Viveka sat in bed, criss cross
“Veev… I LOVE the saree” Naina was very dramatic
“Shushh…. Tumne uski teeshirt pehni hai?” she asked
“Umm.. yeah… he has these custom cotton ones” “feel it Veev”she pulled on it
“TMV… too many visuals” Viveka laughed
The sisters laughed softly
“How are u you idiot?”
“I am good… OMG he is sooooo caring… like he stayed up the wholenight and even held my hair up” Naina was smitten, she clasped her hands andsighed
“Waise tum scuncie laana bhool gayi?”
“You are a cynic”
“No you are a person with a deathwish!! I haven’t told asoul, I told the twins NOT to step out of the house and return home fromcollege and stay locked up, I didn’t even tell Mrs Basu across the hallway, shewill gossip”
“I am sooo sorry” Naina was sincerely apologetic
“Are you better?”
“Oh yeah… Ive downed 5 glasses of nariyal paani today” shegiggled
“Kuch KHA lo aur chalo”
“No Veev” she made a puppy face
“OMG… you are not getting it….”
“Oh I ACTUALLY AM” Naina winked
“You are SO DEAD” Viveka whispered
“I was…. I mean… but he brought me back to life” Nainasighed
“OMG… pagal ho tum” Viveka was startled
“Pleez don’t tell Ma”
“Marne waali ho tum”
The door opened… and in walked a rather handsome lookingman, as tall as naina, broad shouldered, with a side parted silky straight hair, muscular, she loved men in tight shirts… and boy…
Viveka chuckled
“can I turn on the lights?” he requested
He walked over and inhaled Naina’s head
“Let me go wash up”
“Hi! Inder Dhamija” he extended a hand with a genuine smile
“Hi! Viveka Mathur” Viveka got off the bed
“I am sorry for scaring you… she scared me” he said with aworried look
“That’s OK she is fine now”
He poured some clear chilled juice and handed it to his ladylove and Naina winked at Veev before grabbing the glass
“What can I give you… “
“Oh no… please go wash up I am fine”
“You DROVE 6 hours?” Inder was stunned
“Hmm… my parents… our parents are away… our sisters are athome”
“she told me, are u 4 or 5?”
“Thank God only 4” Viveka laughed
“Babe… I told you, its me Veev and the twins” Naina stressed
Inder smiled disarmingly
Viveka liked him a lot
“Let me wash up, if she is up to it, we can go down for tea”he said and left them
“Do they call you Her Highness?” Viveka laugheduncontrollably
“Some help call the women MAHARAJI”
“Oh my God… do they own … umm” Viveka looked around in panic
“No… silly… I think it’s the Rajasthani way”
“We have visited Rajasthan as a family 10s of times, nobodydid that” Viveka was sure
They went down in a bit
Raanav sauntered over
“You have met my cousin?” Inder dragged Viveka toward Raanav
Viveka increased her pace, as they approached Raanav.. tallwith lots of wavy hair, a firm jaw… a permanent grim expression on his face…piercing eyes… Roman aquiline nose., a cleft on the jaw almost as deep as a wedge.
“Raanav Parashar, Viveka Mathur… that’s the most beautifulgirl name” Inder handed her a compliment
“Viveka?” Raanav questioned
“Yeah… easy… Vivek with an AH” she nodded
She pulled her hand away after a second of contact
“Is she your sister?” he asked
“Yep” she nodded
The help brought out a veritable feast and lay it in acorner table with actual fountains on both sides
“Looks like Jaipur did not sit well with your sister”
“I see that… not sure what she ate” Viveka said politely
“Or drank” he interjected
She turned sideways to look at him
“She does not drink” Viveka said casually
“Oh I am sure she doesn’t… at home” he said wickedly
“I would know… I think, she is my sibling”
“I watched her for two days” he said coolly
Viveka walked away from him
Raanav went on his phone and texted Inder
“So you are dating the au pair’s sister?” he asked
“I guess so” Inder clapped back, taking the sting awayimmediately
“Umm.. Ms Mathur… what did u say your name was?” he foundhis way to her, there were two other couples… obviously family? Or friends…Viveka did not know though they were introduced
“Viveka” she said with a smile just looking straight at thefountain, sipping her chai
“You will be spending some time in Jaipur as well?” he asked
“Umm.. not sure”
“I mean you are here right?”
She turned towards him and asked casually “Did u book thisplace?” she asked naively
“It belongs to the family” he said condescendingly
“Oh”
“This is not rented” he scoffed
“Nice” she shrugged
“Your sister?” he pointed his tea cup toward Naina in acorner talking to a female friend
“Didn’t I just acknowledge?” she asked
“I mean… you are the older one?”
“I actually am… great observation” she nodded
“Your sister”
“Her name is Naina” Viveka smiled
He looked at her eyes… they sparkled under the glasses withgenuine joy..
“Inder has taken good care of her”
“I will remember to thank him” she nodded
“I think he even flew a doctor in last night from Delhi”Raanav spoke silkily
“Oh my god!!” Viveka was truly shocked
“I agree… I was too” he pretended to be her ally
“Courting a wealthy man has its perks I guess” he smiled, raising his cup in a toast “Doctor on call, literally flies down on a privatecharter”
“Enjoy… the debauchery” he whispered and walked away
Viveka did not respond, just walked back to her sister
