That’s part of the story, to show regressive mentality of people like Meenu, who is an arch villain. They’re not showing the good people having regressive attitude! Everyone else, Abir, BP, BM, Kunal, Parul, even Kuhu and Mami are reacting with shock and outrage at Meenu’s words. Mishti is just feeling numb, she’s just recovering from a big shock and Meenu attacks her in her weakest state. Nobody is justifying this, its good to show lots of people standing up against a disgusting bully who is victimizing someone who is already feeling down!

Y does she needs abir, BM, BP to stand up for her????

If u ask me. Ryt now d most regressive character is mishti n dey should not promote dis thing of behavior of girls being silent n tolerate every shit said by MIL.

Yes that's exactly what is so difficult to understand about Meenu. IF she had the 'heart' (maybe there was no heart but only brains) to support Mishti "as a woman' in Varun's case then why not in this case?

Like guruji says; meenu's ways always have a reason and her primary reason for supporting Mishti (And abir during Varun track) had to be to keep Abir at home and win his trust again (just to break it again).

@Bold: haha Rupal ma'm portrayal is what makes us feel Meenu's swag and power. But it is important to note that Meenu's intelligence/swag is honestly in an attempt from us fans to find the little funny things underneath BB huge ego and domineering personality.

Meenu might have helped her as she didn't see any other way in getting abir out of case as he will be equally blamed

She also told today that if mishti can conceive then she will be happy to let her stay 🤪

I'm a little relieved that Meenu's insults seemed to have kinda soared over her head. I mean she used to take it badly everytime Kuhu used to call her charity case and stuff. And what all Meenu uttered is just...no words for the degree of disgust. Those words can break anyone. She's handling it for Abir I guess.

  • Watching these tracks/episodes with the family (my mother) has actually helped initiate conversation and start the process of de-sensitising these relatively taboo issues. We are actually beginning to talk about these sensitive topics more (and that's definitely a good big step towards the end goal, well done makers and thankyou to actors like Shah and Rhea, Sanjeev sir, Lata ma'm & even Rupal ma'msmiley32, they are all equally important).

Yes, it's nice that these topics can begin to be discussed easily without personal involvement.

  • Even though I live abroad and understand I am privileged to be so, it is easy to assume that we don't face prejudice or gender inequality etc here. But that is definitely not the case at all. The severity may be different compared to India and certainly rural India too, but remember to note; when Indian people migrate to a foreign land, they not only bring themselves, but they bring their mentality, and opinions and values. And obviously these values are still the exact same as what many people still living in India also have. Other times, the new land and new society can influence a better open mind for these individuals, which is what we hope for, but sadly it doesn't a;ways work that way so easily.

Oh most definitely there is prejudice and gender inequality everywhere. Less in the some places, but still present and insidious.

So all i guess I'm trying to say is, it doesn't matter where you are in the world, women (indian/asian women) continue to face various degrees of regressive injustice. And the stigma/hesitation to openly converse about such sensitive but critical issues, still exist.

It is also not limited to Indians/South Asians living abroad.

Also like to point out something about the mixed reviews about the tracks:

  • Yes we have a proportion of people/fans (primarily visible on sns and forum) that share open minds like Abir and want other people to also move past the conservative bubble, which is ofcourse wonderful and brings hope into humanity. BUT please try to understand: just because you and I may share values like Abir doesn't mean the rest or majority of the population does. You cannot just say, 'we live in 2020, and yet we still see CV/makers create characters like BB or vulnerable mishti'. NO you cannot just simply disregard the fact that people like BB do exist (or at least people with her mentality and opinions) do still exist. HOW are the CV/makers supposed to show the importance and value of beautifully written characters like Abir, Mishti and BP, BM...IF you don't allow them to show characters like Meenakshi or Jasmeet (and Kuhu too). You cannot be selectively blind and deaf to only want/see what you want to see/hear. You need to accept everything that comes with it - IF you want to see a strong positive abir the dhal and angry chorni, then you need equal counter-part of negativity and injustice through BB. Remember it's a two way street. I understand we are fed up seeing/hearing regressive and hateful characters and dialogues...BUT that doesn'

It is hard to maintain character consistency and show these things in the show is what I feel sometimes, but it is true that these things happen even now. I had my son 8 years after marriage, and when I went back to India for his first birthday, my parents' maid (same age as me) said if she had not had a kid for so long, she would have been kicked out of the house!

PS what was the end of that sentence? 😆

  • also show us how to respectfully stand up for your rights against regressive elders.

So true Nandu. Just keep at it I guess. You always find a way to see the positive side of things. 🤗🤗

🤗😊Daya dear

Yup, I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable my mum was to open up about this topic. Ofcourse without seeing such an issue onscreen, I don't think we could have talked about such real stories she knows of, on any normal day.

Oh ofcourse, these kinds of treatments are definitely not exclusive to asian women, it is certainly universal for all women. I was just trying to bring it closer to a culture that we all relate to much easily.

Yup I can't deny that at all. Not easy to keep up to expectations of story and characters, each fan has their own hopes and expectations. Wow yes real stories like that indeed still exist.

@underline: 😆oops typo😛 but full sentence is available in the edited version of the post😆👍🏼

aww thanks yaar😊

Here time and again either she is made to believe that she is breaking a lovable family or she herself witness Abir's longing to be with the family.

Tough choice but she will learn it in a hard way...

Yes very very true. For mishti to believe that it is possible for both Abir and her to live happily away from the family, I don't know what else she needs to face and hear from BB😒 What more proof does she need, that BB will never allow her to remain at peace in the RV house, neither will Abir be at peace.

Someone needs to remind Mishti of her own words she said during Baba track when Abir first suggested to live away: she said something on the lines of : "when two people who don't get along are forced to live together, the house nor family will be at peace or happy"

this applies for both her relationship with Meenu and Kuhu.

Yup, the constant pressure she's been placed with (sadly by BM and BP as a child) that she has to be the mature one, that she can solve everything, that she has to keep everyone else happy etc is instilled in her so much, it's just how she thinks, acts and lives.

Definitely a tough choice, but it is the right choice (better in the long-run for sure). She's had the hard route all through her life, how much more hardships does she need to endure for her to realise this.

🥺💔

Yes yes exactly.

Habits can be changed. Lifetime habits are harder to change but it is possible.

First step is to move away from the negativity: i.e get away from RV house - get away from BB
