Now that I have had a gala time teasing on the Bollywood forum. It is time for me to point out the stupidity of Vidya Balan's argument. I will start with the "innocent until proven guilty" or "guilty until proven innocent." Miss Balan when has anyone in the media stated that Rhea should be sentenced to life imprisonment and only be able to come out when her lawyer proves her innocent? That is what is by definition considered guilty until proven innocent. Speaking of the media trial. Then it is thanks to the media that this beloved young actor's death, as you stated, is getting a proper investigation. Or else the Mumbai Police had declared it a suicide without doing any investigation. And then you had backed the Mumbai police' immature verdict and stated because it is a suicide (according to no real evidence) people should not speculate and let him rest in peace. Ms. Balan that was the biggest joke ever. When you treated someone's life so cheaply and implied that their death did not even deserve a proper investigation. That people should not even ask difficult questions about his death.
Miss. Balan if we are going to get into constitutional rights than what about "freedom of the press" that the media has a right to cover whichever issue that they deemed fit. It was because the media and the people speculate (which you also advocated against) and asked difficult questions that this BELOVED actor's death is now getting a proper investigation. That instead of a verdict on the spot of suicide, (which you ignorantly stated no one can be blamed for), there are now three major agencies investigating his death.
He as a citizen also deserves justice if he was wronged. What about that constitutional right? We are lucky the media asked how did the Mumbai police arrive at this conclusion so fast? Why did the Mumbai police not seal the crime sight? Why did the Mumbai police not file an FIR which is essential for any investigation? Had the media and people not speculated and let Sushant rest in the peace none of these FACTs would have come into the forefront. They broke the criminal procedure code of India for that offense alone many of them should lose their job. But had the media not covered it they would have gone scot-free for this offense. If the media coverage is so wrong. Then why did you do a film which portrayed the media as a hero in the Jessica Lal case?
You see Miss. Balan the reason '"freedom of the press" exists in every democracy is to hold powerful people accountable when they abuse their power. And in this case, Vidya ji, the Mumbai police most def has abused their power. And there is no guarantee that the day media coverage stops the Mumbai establishment, which includes the Home Minister, won't further sabotage this investigation. That is why media coverage is important in this case. And freedom of the press is also included in the constitution so please "shut up" and respect their constitutional rights.
