My issue is the hypocrisy. During the Salman Khan trial. Everyone from Abhijeet Bhattacharya to Amitabh Bachchan tweeted in his support. They can support a criminal but not a dead man getting justice. Everyone from Vidya saying let someone who had a on the spot verdict of suicide rest in peace or not having a word to say about Sushant's case is disappointing to say the least.
As for trial by media. When the Mumbai police clearly hasn't been doing their job. There needs to be scrutiny by media in order to ensure people are doing their job and not obstructing justice. The Mumbai police obstructing the Bihar police shows shady business done by them. Even if they didn't feel they had jurisdiction that was something they had to fight out in court not obstruct them physically. The news was broken out by Sushant's family lawyer. Every single case where there is corruption of powerful people the media has come to the rescue of justice be it the Jessica Lal case. The point of journalism is to give valid criticism of the wealthy and powerful in a proper functioning democracy. Even people like Renuka Shahane who I admire for their bravery in the #metoo movement have been disappointing and said there should be just trial without media pressure. Renuka it needed media pressure to balance out conflicts of interest.
Vidya literally asking people to be silent and let this case be buried the less said the better. To the feminist the only time Rhea really starting baring the brunt of criticism was after the family filed the FIR against her and started speaking out. These same feminist like Renuka critiqued Nana Patekar when they heard in the media of how he treated Tanushree. Well by every family member of Sushant's Rhea has been accused of abuse as well. That is holding different genders to different standards. When you excuse woman for abuse until a trial but not men.
And Kareena did make both ignorant and arrogant statements about nepotism. She probably doesn't deserve to be bullied. But her ignorance does deserve critique. Even people on the forum are so protective of their own favorites that they don't want certain people to be called out and critiqued ever. If we want to change in Bollywood than everyone responsible for an unfair and unjust system should be called out. Even Karan Johar. We had a family over for dinner yesterday that move here from Mumbai in 2000. They stated people assume he has more power than he deserves but he promotes nasty behavior of the Bollywood colleagues on his show and does over promote untalented star kids. Did Jhanvi deserve a biopic after her performance in Dhadak? With all the good opportunities going to untalented star kids of course it would be harder for a talented outsider to make their place in the industry. Does this not help create groupism?
Their silence even in support of justice and urging of the public to let this CASE more then Sushant rest in peace as a suicide for which no one can be blamed not only is cowardly, hypocritical but very suspicious.
