it's not cheating it's hiding n mistrusting him due to fear .. when u fear losing a person u tend to do somethings which u don't want to ..

Break his trust in some major way. It has to be big. Or it'll be a culmination. He'll keep forgiving her for little things until the point when he can't anymore. He can't stop loving her. That he's incapable of. But he'll decide to not let her be a part of his life coz he can't keep getting hurt anymore
