No real relationship is ever steady. If it is steady, it flatlines and dies- it means there is no growth and has reached a dead end. A good relationship is forever zig zag, highs and lows. We learn and grow together and evolve and keep learning as the relationship grows, whatever nature the relationship may be- friends, partners, parents or siblings. What matters for the relationship to grow is to forgive and forget and move ahead and explore newer experiences together .
