Anurag himself wanted to be associated with Karan. Karan was saying dumb shit like reverence is more important than money. Bombay Velvet happened and KJO jumped ship 😆

Kashyap sucking up to Karan for a while was the worst. But Karan definitely likes to associate himself with Kashyap and Dibakar, so he can pretend to be a complex smart filmmaker with all these random anthology movies. 😆

Yes but I wonder if he ever invites them for koffee ☕️ 🤔 😆
hmm Bollywood is not the only industry in India. Bahubali the biggest hit ever in India is not from Bollywood. There are are several industries. There are several kinds of movies being made. KJO and YRF aren’t the only ones making movies. There are several movie industries, many movies being made, Indian television industry is a big one , OTT platforms are big now. That was Jimmy’s point exactly that there are several opportunities to make your mark. Now one may consider Punjab movie industry as lower than Bollywood and hence consider Jimmy unsuccessful but not him. At end of the day of not in Bollywood he has had success in Punjab industry . Infact he is more successful and well known than Uday Chopra a star kid. Here is another story of outsider winning over an insider because public has the ultimate authority in movies. Second like Jimmy said supply is more than demand and it’s not only in Bollywood but every where even in corporate world. So it’s not as easy as change your job. Just like in movie industry it’s not easy to change from Bollywood to another industry it’s not easy to change a job as well. This is India supply is more than demand everywhere. Also just like you said insiders are pushed over outsiders in Bollywood, who says it doesn’t happen in corporate world. If a job opens up every one recommends people they know. 1000’s May apply but you will get an opportunity only if some one you know pushes your CV ahead. In fact like I said it’s much easier in corporate I can push CV of an untalented person without a care because I am not investing my money. People like KJo or YRF invest their own money. If they choose a completely worthless star kid it’s their own money that goes down the drain.I don't agree with the corporate world analogy. If you leave one job, you go get another. There are hundreds of companies. Sure, some are high-paying, some not. Some are premiere product companies. Others aren't.
But there is only one movie industry per language in India. There is only one Bollywood. Here the corporate company is not Bollywood (because well, that would make Bollywood the only company ) . If a film project is the equivalent of a corporate company, then outsiders are potential employees whose offer letters are an open secret and rescinded at the last moment because a board member of some bigger organization wants to push their candidates in return for funding. The outsiders can of course keep trying to get jobs in other film projects (companies) but since some board members in this corporate umbrella know everything that is happening and keep strong arming people out, it is an uphill task for some to get the best offers or projects . Oh, the board members also control the newsletters - especially the gossip columns which is read by employees associated with all the companies within this corporate umbrella of Bollywood.
And oh, the board members also control who get the Employee of the year award. And maybe who emcees the event too. And who gets invites for the after-parties for such events too.

What about the moral obligation to throw money at no name outsiders 😆
What about the movie stealing ? Then again it’s not like anyone’s out of work so everything isn’t stolen.
What about the media hounding. Tho Bhai has shown the whole world media can write bad about you but if you don’t let it touch you it won’t. 😆

1) It is not the same. Going into web series and OTT by choice is different than exploring those options because everything is stacked against you in the industry you actually want to get into. Now other platforms atleast help them make a living while letting them act. But basically what you are telling them is "Stop whining about Bollywood being a big bad place - just go to wherever you can act . You are getting some money, you are acting, so why complain?"
Before OTT and web series - there was , and still is TV and theatre. But it isn't the same for people who aspire what Bollywood would give them. And there is just one Bollywood . There is just one Hindi film industry. Just like there is just one Telugu industry and so on.
2) You are taking some examples of insiders who didn't make it despite multiple chances. I am talking about outsiders who have to hustle for not just chances but also hope that the ones they already have isn't taken away from them.
3) Again the corporate world is completely different. For people in the corporate world, the world is their oyster. There are multiple companies with similar pay grade. Multiple companies with similarly satisfying job profiles. You can get internal job transfers within company, move to different one in same city, move to the same one in different city, move countries, study or get certifications, and come back and leverage that.
Consultancies don't have the power to scuttle your career opportunities at every turn. They are a dime a dozen and have oversaturated the market. In fact, if you have decent experience and credentials, you'll have a dozen consultancies courting you and fighting over trying to represent you.
Sure there are a lot of times you get in only thru referrals, but even the people in the referral pool will have to have solid experience and cred. A referral in the corporate world is not like a "Bollywood referral" . You can't get your nieces and nephews a job. I know atleast 3 people in my family who are at the Director level in top tier product companies - they couldn't get their close relatives in despite pushing.
And nowadays most people "refer" by submitting resumes in the referral portal of their company. That's the maximum extent you can go. You want to get "referred" in Amazon (even if it is more than L3) , find someone in your family or friends circle who works there in any position (doesn't matter) - send your resume and they will "refer you" . After that you have to compete with hundreds who have been referred that way.
I doubt Ananya had to compete with a hundred Ananyas.
