To me Louisa M.Alcott takes the step a little higher than Jane Austen when it comes to portrayal of female emotions or characters in general.

@B.....very well said.........👍🏼.........one of the reasons...I think.... she had way more inspiration than Austen and time...was...Lil. bit different......

My sister cried a lot when she graduated high school because she didn't make the list of Valedictorians (our school has 12) and I literally could not understand why she was so upset because I'm like but...you achieved all this...shouldn't you be proud of it? But for her....it's never enough...I guess she's very ambitious and I lack that. This crooked Valedictorian system was later scrapped and then introduced the Latin Honors System...she still gets sad about it because she would've gotten the highest honor....LOL I wasn't a bad student...I always kept on top of my studies but I never aspired to be "#1"....

@bold...........you don't look like........I meant some..high schoolers and college students are very indiscipline........they do behave irresponsibly..........whole.....Valedictorians.......things should be abolished.......most of the time useless.......not needed...

LOL I know...I'm just a lot laid-back compared to my sister and cousin. I can be indisciplined (procrastinating, being lazy, etc.) sometimes but you're right that I'm not irresponsible...also I've matured since high school so that's good 😆

I completely agree with you...it creates unnecessary stress and competition within students...I remember my sister literally being so upset all the time over this...but I think she has also changed as in she's a lot more relaxed now and doesn't compare herself to others but still takes her studies very seriously...

I have a funny story:

My best friend and I went to the Indian restaurant once. I ordered my food a bit spicy because that's how i like it but she got the lowest spice level because she has a low spice tolerance. My food looked good and she wanted to try some but I forgot that I got spicy. Anways, she ate it and then literally gulped down 3 glasses of water and her face was red...I thought she was going to die 😆 we had to order some sweet & cold kheer afterwards. She loves indian food but spice is a problem...we were roommates so I would make her Indian food sometimes if I was cooking so, I'd give it to her first and then add spice afterwards 😆

Did you ever get a chance to read F. Scott Fitzgerald, any of the work? You may know about The Great Gatsby. anyway...this is irrelevant for this particular discussion but thought to let you know as I've been discussing with Bucky about classic novels...we like...I will take break now........I will discuss that stupid valedictorian system later when I'm back......it relates to school's stupid favoritism.......sometimes they give unfavorable one 96.49 to stop their A+ so they can choose....their fav. and if you say anything.....they will give you a talk about unethical override etc..because they know they are unethical so covering their face......

I agree about stress in education from an early age first stress to get into your chosen secondary school, then university and then job.

I felt the stress for admissions for secondary school, then more intense from secondary school onwards. Grades are not everything and do not guarantee success in your career
