First of all, there was no need to introduce Vikram, because there were already lots of underused characters in the story. If at all Vikram was needed to come, then as an unreliable/psycho narrator, all his flashbacks are lie. That would have created an interesting thriller too, as you had to think which is truth and which is lie. But I dunno if makers would have created hotchpotch while executing it.
