As contraries are known by contraries, so is the delights of presence best known by the torments of absence.

Sunday Night At Riya's Apartment

She is glancing at the sky with a cup of coffee, tomorrow is a big day in her professional life because she is going to join in field jobs, finally, her ETF chief Rathod have decided to let her in officially. After her painful torture of doing paperwork.

Her mind is driving back to the days when she was happy with her family, though she had lost her mother at a tender age her father and sister never let her feel lonely. Tears rolled out down without her knowledge. She quietly wiped them off.

She started to console herself " Ohh Riya, stop acting like a kid, You should be happy that finally, your dream is becoming true."

She sighed inwardly and moving towards her bedroom for a much-needed sleep.

Monday Morning at ETF

Riya, Sree, and Chotu are sitting inside the conference room and gossiping. At that time Rathod made an entry to the conference room angrily.

Rathod " Team, we have a case, EX DIG daughter is missing from yesterday's night."

An audible gasp was heard. Sree was the first person to recover from the shock, Rathod understood the looks of his team.

" Yes, we are going to solve the case, Get ready team" Rathod shouted at his team.

Soon everyone settled in ETF car and started to move towards the crime location.

Crime Spot

ETF reached the crime spot and they are an examining the burnt car which is half-drowned in the bridge.

" Chotu, inform fire engines and get the car out of the bridge without any damage, Riya sends the dead body to postmortem and get the forensic report and Sree finds out whose car is this" Rathod ordered his team.

Rathod is looking for some clues around the bridge but he couldn't find anything useful.

Commissioner's Office

Commissioner Mukesh Bhatia is trying to console visibly tensed Ex DIG Raghu Sir.

"Don't worry Raghu we will find Sheen at any cost, we are handling this case with utmost care?" Mukesh told his best friend Raghu.

"No, I cannot believe anyone regarding Sheen's safety, She is being kidnapped the second time in a row of year, I want Rawte to handle this case"Raghu shouted at the Commissioner.

"Why don't you understand the man whom you want to work in Sheen's case is a hurricane." Mukesh tried to explain Raghu because inviting Rawte means not trusting Rathod's capabilities. Finally, Mukesh reluctantly agreed to add ACP Arjun Rawte for this case.

"Call ACP Rawte and ask him to join here within 1 hour and I will ask Rathod to come here," Commissioner said to Raghu sir.

Raghu nodded his head, dialled ACP Arjun Rawte's number. On the other side, Commissioner informed Rathod to come to his office within 1 hour.

Minister's office

One man is smashing Minister's head to the glass door continuously, two guards are trying to pull him back before he kills the minister, but the man is so strong and visibly enraged, the guards couldn't stop him.

"ACP Sir, please stop it before you kill him" one of the guards pleaded to the man who was hitting minister.

"I will kill this man, how dare, he laid a finger on a girl who is much younger than him?" he shouted.

The minister is looking at the ACP fearfully and pleaded," I'm sorry, leave me, I would never do this kind of activity in my life".

The man dropped the half-dead body of the minister and While leaving out of the place he smirked, "Time to ready for another transfer".

He halted his steps after listening to his mobile vibration." ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte here"

He silently heard the call, before dropping the call he muttered: " I'm coming".

DIG Home

Riya is trying to console Sheen's mother who is crying continuously and Sree is setting up the equipment to trace the calls as instructed by Rathore and Chotu is calling his informers to find any clues.

Riya is visibly tense and her friends could see that in her face." Ri, Why you are so worked up ?" he playfully asked her.

"I don't want to commit any mistake in my first field job, you know how I struggled to climb this position in ETF".she looked at Sree sadly.

Sree holds her shoulders and said, " No, you won't make any mistakes, When you are so focused on your job, how it is possible to miss any information?, and top of that I and Chotu will help you to understand this field job".

Riya smiled at her friends but still, her heart is beating rapidly, like something is gonna happen in which she doesn't have any control over it.

Commissioner's Office

Raghu Sir, Commissioner, and Rathod are sitting inside the office room, Arjun is standing a few feet away with folded hands.

Commissioner looked at Rathod and said " Rawte would help you in the case, hope you don't have a problem"

Rathod shot daggers at Arjun and said: " What problem, this man itself a problem, this man will work with us? the man who never follows the rules and regulations, the man who can never control his anger, the man who has a bad attitude? and he never stays at one post for more than 3 months."

Rathod fuming at both the officers who are sitting with him," Right at this moment I'm leaving my ETF chief position. I guess my presence is no longer needed here".

He tries to get up from his place, before he could say anything Mukesh sir stopped him, “See Rathod, you should think before jumping into any conclusions, your presence is much needed here and Rawte will not intervene your investigations do something against your orders and he is just going to help you in this case, is that clear?"

Rathod nodded his head, before leaving he spared a glance at Arjun.

Raghu Sir looked at Arjun pleadingly like " Save my daughter", Arjun closed his eyes indicated that he will save her at any cost.

DIG Home

Riya is standing on the balcony and gazing outside, all of sudden she noticed a tall and lean man kneeling down and doing something to the car which is parked at the gate. Without waiting she took her gun and ran outside.

Her hands are trembling while holding the gun but still she firmly pointed her gun at the man who is clad in a white formal cotton shirt. That man sees the lady holding a gun in a trembling hand coming towards him in the car's mirror. Before she could trigger the gun wrongly, He holds the girl hand in a tight grip, his actions are very fast so swiftly dodged her moves. But the girl was no less than him, trying to wriggle out of his steel grip. Finally, that mystery man wins by twisting the girl's hand and caged her in his arms. She couldn't see the face due to his sharp moves and top of that her black tresses are disturbing her view.

Riya's heart is beating rapidly like, it would jump out of her rib cage.she could feel goosebumps on her skin, the way his masculine body is pressing her soft body. The manly scent of the woods and sands making her mind crazy, it does a somersault on her innocent heart and mind, and top of that his hot breath is fanning on her back.

" Why in the heck, I feel this way for this man? Please, God, it shouldn't be him". she mentally prayed to God.

At the same time, Rathod came along with Chotu, the scene in front of infuriated him. When the mystery man sees Rathod, loses the grip of his hand, Riya used that opportunity and came out of his grip.

Before the mystery man blames her, Riya tried to explain herself to Rathod.

" Rathod sir, I didn't do anything, this man only ...She is rudely interrupted by Rathod,

" This man has a name, ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte, he will be with us in this case alone, but he won't intervene in our work". Rathod Challenged Arjun.

Arjun, as usual, gave him " I don't care a look".

Riya's world is spinning around, she is trying to let Rathod's words sink into her. She is looking at the figure, who is just standing two away from her.

" Arjun" without her knowledge, her tongue rolled out his name.

At the same time, Arjun turned his head and looked at her. Her black eyes are looking at his captivating brown eyes with mixed of love, pain, confusion. She tries to see through his soul, but instead, he averted her gaze.

When he averted the gaze, her eyes clouded with tears, the man she sees is a different man altogether. An adolescent innocent and handsome face was completely changed, he looks like a Greek God now. She is totally confused about the new piece of information about him.

Riya's POV

" I thought he would have joined his dad's business and settled down with his love of life Roshini. But here he is standing as an ACP, but what happened, he looks so different. The ever so joyful, warm brown eyes are replaced with mystery, pain, agony, and suffering. Why do I feel like he is in great pain? Why do his pain-filled mystery eyes affect me? Why do I feel there is something much more than meets the eye? God, why do you always make me stand on cross-reads? I should keep a distance from this man, I shouldn't think in this way, he is happily married her.8 long years is not enough to forget someone who is not mine? I should stop thinking about this man otherwise, I will go insane.
Just one day, he will be working for this case and leave. So stop worrying about it." She pep talked to herself.

Arjun left the place after seeing her zoning out.

Chotu looking at his best friend who is looking like a white sheet, her face is barren of any emotions. He shakes her shoulders, to bring her out of the daydream.

" Ri, Are you okay? Your eyes are red, Are you crying?"

Riya silently wipes out her tears and nodded that she is alright. Chotu reluctantly agreed with her.

While leaving the place, Arjun has noticed the girl's clip stuck in his shirt, he removed it, he does know that clip belongs to a girl who had attacked him. He raised his hand to throw that, but something stops him, so he stuffs that red flower clip to his pant pocket.

After sometime Everyone settled inside DIG's home.They are visibly tensed, because, as of now they couldn't find any clue about Sheen.

"Have you found Sheen mobile around the crime spot?" Arjun asked looking at Sree.

" No Sir, we couldn't find her mobile on the crime spot. So I started to track her mobile, but we couldn't trace the call since it was switched off from yesterday." Sree said to Arjun.

Before Arjun could ask for more information, his mobile started to ring. He looked at the caller id, it's from Sheen. He indicated Sree to trace the call. Everyone used the headset to listen to the conversion.

" Sheen, Where are you?"

" I didn't know Arjun Bhaiya " she is trying to talk to him with great difficulty, because of forced drug usage, her eyelids are dropping because of forced drug usage.

" Sheen run" Rathod exclaimed at her.

"No Sheen, Don't run, you cannot walk in this situation, they forced drug on you."

"Do you know, where are you? How many people with you? are you seeing anything like a Landmark or any building?"

"No Bhaiya, I couldn't see anything except containers and it's smelling like Diesel, I'm not sure about it. So many girls are with me Bhaiya, One man is telling they gonna take us in the ship"

" Sheen Don't worry, I will get you soon"

" I'm afraid Bhaiya, Please save me, He is coming near to me" She was forcefully dragged by one man and he slapped her hard. she let out a painful cry.

Arjun closed his eyes after listening to plead, it reminds him of Roshini's painful cry.

Everyone is listening to her cry after some time the line was dead.

On the other side, a bald head man who is wearing pyjama with kohl filled eyes saw the mobile which is lying on the ground. He started to limp from this place, took the mobile and throws on the wall.

" Stuff these girls inside the containers, we are selling these girls tomorrow morning at Goa"

Back to DIG's home

" Sree, trace the mobile location and Chotu get the car ready, we are going to get Sheen, It's a normal kidnapping case," Rathod exclaimed his team.

"No not possible Rathod, Maybe we will trace down the mobile location, but before we will reach over that place, They would have moved the girls to some other place/state"

"It's not a normal kidnapping case Rathod," Arjun said.

" Riya, find out how many missing girl complaints are filed at the local police during this 1 week."

Riya nodded and tried to contact the local police.

" Sir, we found the location, it's an oil warehouse belongs to TIMA groups and located on the outskirts of Mumbai" Sree told.

" Rathod sir, there are 35 missing girls complaint during these 5 days and in this month alone, more than 200+ girls were missing, and I'm afraid it's not a normal kidnapping," Riya said while looking at the dairy where she noted down the missing girl's name.

"Damn it, Team gets ready, we are leaving to TIMA warehouse".Rathod shouted at his team.

Soon everyone boarded in ETF car including Arjun and drive towards TIMA warehouse.

At Warehouse

After 3 hours of travel, ETF reached the warehouse.

ETF moved along with the local police, The place is surrounded with oil containers, plastic stuff, old iron rod and some waste stuff, they couldn't find any human or any tangible evidence.

"God, this place is so unhygienic" Riya made a disgusting face after looking at the place.

Arjun glared at her. To distract them after her embarrassment about cleanness. She started to blabber about statistics " As per the records, the kidnappers would take 48 hours to exchange the girls from state to country".

Arjun sighed loudly, when he tried to see the other side, he found a shadow of the man near an oil container. Without waiting for a second, he catches hold of the frightened man.

He pointed the gun at the frightened man " Say, where are the girls, where they have taken them?"

"Sir, I didn't know anything, I just came here to take waste materials".He cried out.

Chotu punched him hard on his face, " Tell us, otherwise we make sure, you won't get out of this place alive"

"They are transporting the girls, Tomorrow morning at 8.00 AM at Goa Fort, But before you guys reach, those girls would be exchanged" he blurted out.

Rathod asked local police to arrest the man. Arjun looked at his watch, it shows 6.00 PM.

" Rathod, if Riya 's so-called statistics are true, we have only 14 hours to rescue those girls" saying this Arjun looked at Riya.

"God Ji, what is his problem now?, He has a problem with my statistics also" she murmured to herself.

ETF decided to reach Goa via car. After 12 hours of continuous driving, they reached Goa on the next day morning at 6.00 AM.

Goa Fort.

" Team, we have only 2 hours to rescue the girls, lets spilt out and search each and every corner, local police is on the way to help us" Rathod ordered his team.

Finally, they found a clue, those girls are inside one of the ship and the ship moving to another fort in Goa.

Without waiting for anyone, Arjun took one of the water motorbikes and drove towards the mid-sea. Rathod, Sree, Chotu and Riya followed him in another steamer boat.

After driving for some time on the sea, Arjun saw the ship in which the girls were kept. At the same time, the bald head man saw the motorbike which is following them. The kidnapper is alerted his man, and they started to fire at Arjun's direction. Arjun got shot in his left forearm, but still dodged all the bullets which are firing at him and get inside the ship.

A bald head man opened one of the containers and took hold of Sheen's half-conscious body.

" Welcome back ACP Rawte, it's good to see you again". The kidnapper laughed at him.

"Paatan" Arjun shouted at the top of his lungs.

" Chu, Chu, control your anger ACP, put down your guns if you want this girl to be alive" he demanded at Arjun.

Arjun acted like dropping of his gun when Paatan was distracted shoot on his left leg. When Paatan felt the pain, throws Sheen out of the ship. Without waiting for any second, Arjun also jumped out of the ship.

Rathod and the team saw everything and they surrounded the ship and rescued the girls using the local police and arrested the kidnappers.

Riya is looking at the sea again and again because Arjun is wounded and top of that, he jumped into the mid-sea. As like God heard her prayer, Arjun came out of the sea with Sheen in his arms.

She sighed happily after seeing him safe. Soon the medical team started to treat all the girls because they were either drugged and tortured physically. Sometime later, Raghu Sir and Commissioner Mukesh reached the spot and they were happy seeing all the girls especially Sheen.

After seeing her dad, Sheen ran to hug his father and started to cry. Rathod and the team looking at the scene silently, But in this situation they didn't see Arjun is treating his wound by himself.

Raghu sir and Commissioner thanked Arjun and Rathod team. They all left the Goa. After completing the formalities, ETF hand over the case to Goa police.

After 14 hours of travel, ETF reached Mumbai, during this travel nobody talked. But Riya was capturing all the moves of Arjun without blinking her eyes, she knows this would be the last time seeing him properly.

ETF office

Finally, the car reached ETF premises, Rathod ordered everyone to leave for the day. Arjun looked at them for a few seconds and left quietly.

Riya is looking at him, while he was leaving, It feels like he was taking some parts of her soul.
She gritted her teeth to control cry.

Chotu dropped Riya and Shree to their homes.

After some time at Ravi's Lodge.

Arjun is trying to clean his wound using alcohol since it started to bleed a little. At that time his mobile started to ring, he looked at his watch, it shows 12.30 AM.

" ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte" here.

" Arjun, this is Commissioner Mukesh Bhatia" Mukesh greeted Arjun.

" Oh, yes sir, I didn't have your number, so I couldn't acknowledge the number"

"That's not a problem, I'm here to offer you something, hope you don't reject it."

"Anything, but it's not related to joining any team in Mumbai police department"

"But, it's about your joining in ETF as a second-in-command".

"I'm not interested in joining any force, you very well know my mission"

"That's why I'm offering you this role. An intelligent team found a small clue related to Sikander"

Arjun blood boiled after listening to Sikander's name.

"I need that lead at any cost"

"I'm Sorry, once we get enough information, that will be hand over to ETF, So I can't give you the lead.".

"I'm ready to join in an ETF, I will collect the official joining letter tomorrow at your office"

"That's like my boy, Get ready for the new journey in ETF".

"Jaihind, Good night Arjun, See you tomorrow at my office"

Arjun keeps looking at the mobile screen for a few seconds, Good night this word keeps ringing in his ears. It's been two years, he never sleeps at night without any nightmare.

The night is yet to end. I will continue with the next part soon.
