So about Mahabharat,

Shantanu marries Ganga. She takes a promise that he wont ever ask her anything or if he does, she will leave. He agrees coz he was madly in love. She drowns 7 of their kids. 8th, he stops and she says, she will leave him now. Since they both were cursed from previous birth, she did what she did. 8th Son is Bhishma who she came to return when Bhishma turns adult.

Now Shantanu again falls in love with Satyavati. Daughter of a fisherman. Her father asks for promise that Satyavati's son will be made King and Not Bhishma. Shantanu denies. But becomes devdas in love. Bhishma notices and goes n asks Satyavati to marry his father. Gives a promise to her father that he will maintain celibacy all his life.

Now, Shantanu marries Satyavati. (I found him quite the tharki 😆) They have 2 sons. First one dies younger. And another one dies to leaving 1 wives behind and no heir.

Real deal starts. Satyavati asks Bhishma to break his promise of celibacy and have kids with his deceased step brother's wives. *gobsmacked* (If I judge by today's standard... this was.. ermm 🤔)

Bhishma denies. Then comes out the truth. Satyavati was once taking some Hrishimuni from one shore to another in her boat, he tells her.. she is going to play important part in history so, for that she must have kid with him. 😲 (Couldn't help but compare this muni to today's babas and tantriks. Isnt that what they do? Give reasons of curing and vidya and all to have sex with women?)

So Satyavati reveals she has another son. If Bhishma can't produce heir then she will have to call her another son. Asks Bhishma to get him. That son is Rushimuni too. He comes and agrees to mate with his step-brother's 2 wives. 🤓 1 is Dhritrashtra, another one Pandu and he also mates with dasi - that son is Vidur.

OMG.. my head spinning by now. Isn't this incest level 101. 😳 I understand different times n all. And I love Mahabharat but man o man. Incidents leading to battle of Kurukshetra is so twisted by today's values.
