No wonder Khushi is always being grumpy and eggy all the time, it is because of her father who is useless and relies on women of the house for money and in turn abuses them physically and also a nice lecture from her mother on patience and tolerance for protecting her mother. Her mother feels protected even if she had to live with a drunkard and abusive husband rather than not having a husband at all which makes Khushi thinks her mother is a weak one who gives more importance to the people around her rather think of her life without having such a husband who is useless to her. On the other hand, Ammaji refused to go with her husband instead made herself a strong person and earned a respect from all of Ratnagiri even not having her husband around her.

Lavanya is being attracted by Arnav and always praises his looks in front of Khushi which irritates her a lot. For a moment even Khushi accepts he is better of as a model rather than a doctor. Wondering whether Arnav is flirting with Lavanya just to irritate Khushi or he is just being himself who feels comfortable around his own. So now Arnav is aware that Khushi is older than him. Wondering what made Khushi feel low as soon as Lavanya lets that out. Is it because being older than him, Khushi feels uncomfortable because of her education or is it something else.

The backdrop of this story is a village in Ratnagiri and so it rightly portrays the plight of the woman in these villages. In this story Arnav is the only male in the house amidst three women as his father is absconding.

Kushi’s plight is miserable she has a father who is a liquor addict who physically abuses her and her mother she is helpless can’t do anything as her mother silently bears all the insults their father throws at them because her mother is a bharitya nari who worships her pati ,but in spite of all this she is studying and wants to complete her tenth standard. Lavanya is a happy go lucky girl in this house who is a positive character who is very friendly with kushi also supports her.

But the dominating woman among all is Ammaji who insists that she wear a veil in front of Arnav. Waiting for Arnav’s response when he hears his mom has insisted kushi to wear a veil.

Lavanya is drooling over Arnav . Arnav treats La like a friend nothing more . Khushi is studying , she can do better if she is equipped with education .

So Arnav is yet to see the face behind the veil . Like the way the story is shaping up .

I like how you are bringing up social issues here, Rose. Societal pressures govern so much of people's life decisions. Khushi's point about self esteem is very valid, but that is the one thing that is not focused on. The duties and responsibilities of a woman to everyone around her is rammed home from the beginning. But the duty of care that she owes to herself is forgotten.

I think khushi is a widow that’s why she doesn’t participate in any rituals ppl in villages believe in these orthodox beliefs n make the lives of poor girls miserable.

Is Khushi a Widow ?? But then why isnt she allowed near the god ? Maybe some weird rule that Ammaji has......earlier during the thal situation i thought she is in her periods and hence refused to hand it over but i guess it goes deeper then that......

Arnav is honestly, just in playing mood, he is playing around with LA........thank god even she isnt serious yet, cause it will be difficult to break to her sweet heart later..... cause he definitely already in Khushi....thinking about her only....

I'm curious as to why Khushi can't go inside the temple, and why she has been instructed to keep her face covered. This is so at odds with her otherwise feisty attitude. Her character is a very interesting one, Rose.
