Thing is he hasn't seen the reality of India at that time in a wider sense. The only woman he has seen is Saudamini who is educated (pata nahi kis angle se) and very progressive (she acts like that). And he lived in a bed of roses all his life. He needs to get out of his world to see all the realities but for that first he needs to accept this bond with Bondita and accept that he cannot turn his face away from this. He has chosen it, he has seen what kind of a kid she is, he knows she can be a partner for him in his mission but he just doesn't do anything of that sort. And about community bathrooms, I feel Bondita is much more convincing than Aniruddh while talking and sorting things because Ani talks in his vilayat style while people can actuall relate to Boni and understand things. That's why I said to convince people and not throw his decisions on them, Ani needs to face actual realities.
Both ani and mini live in delusion to be frank. Mini in ani's delusion and ani about his surroundings. He is speaking like he doesn't know everyone goes to river for bath. He thinks just because he has all comforts, everyone also have it🤔
He is a way ahead of his time his thoughts are good about gender equality and all that but he lacks the basic awareness of his surroundings. And the problem is he has very less patience, if someone doesn't agree with him he just shouts and yells and forces his thoughts down their throats. As you said bondita is much more convincing, she raises questions which no one can disagree with. Even the men who came for complaining, kaka and everyone were speechless at her tark, they also knew what she was speaking wasn't wrong. If ani would have spoken instead of her i feel he would just have shouted and shooed them away.
