You spoke my mind. The character goes through various phases. Selfless and unrequited love is one of the most important phases and it's precisely what we saw last time. I don't know what's the requirement for a repeat of something he already did. Moreover, the only thing that made us seek pleasure from that sacrifice was the fact that it produced a clean slate for them to start again.

That's my point it's already done and need not do every single time the same sacrifice and bear the despair of unrequited love . His love is selfless , unconditional and he had a change of heart and redeemed himself . Yes we all were hopeful of his return for the clean slate exit and there is no point in him coming back if he has to go through the same churn .

Now it will be the time where his love deserves equal and genuine reciprocation . A larger than life character deserves a larger family
