Yes she would have been his step mom, or like his step mom if MJ didn’t kick her out or attempted to kill her and kept his promise instead. However he didn’t so he has no right over her and cannot claim her as his own.

She is his DIL and he should respect that at least for the sake of his own son whom he claims to love.

Maya loves Rudra and the minute MJ realises this his jealous streak will take over and to add to that the fact is that she was able to find someone that truly loves her and that is none other than his own son will be like rubbing salt to his wounded ego because Maya moving on and finding love is equal to his own defeat. Moreover he was so sure about the fact that she is just not worth entering the Roy family as according to him she is a kachra that cannot be the crown or pride of any family but she proved him wrong by marrying his son and entering the family.

Honestly I wanted to slap him today when he chopped her hair as an attempt to get ‘his’ old Maanvi back and when he ripped the red dress Rudra got for her since according to him she only deserves the color black, as a way of telling her that she deserves a life full of misery, grief and darkness void of any love.
