haahhahha. don't worry. he is HUMAN. right. yes. he lied. a big lie. but he has the right intention or reasons. he has a heart of gold, just that sometimes it might get a bit .. too... carried away. or. you may not be able to tame it. lets see... remember how I told you a test of trust will come. this was just the beginning. the trust that they need to build should be based on communication. and that is exactly that I want to go to. :)

the fear is there yes, but for what? what is she actually scared of. See, in psychology, it may not be necessary that what you think may be the reason of fear may be the actual reason. Sometimes, you just need a push to find the actual reason. As for Khushi and minta, that is what minta did. She helped Khushi find out what she was actually scared of. She has always stayed a bit reserved. Protecting her heart. And for her heart to go, and then be alone, be it temporarily, is going to hurt.

yes, Arnav shouldn't have lied about Tom and Minta, but Khushi herself have left him with no choice...... their relationship maybe from childhood and they know each other well, yet Arnav isn't sure how she will react to her friends going for a live-in relationship.........or rather he knows she will react negatively....... So Khushi herself is responsible for this behavior of his............ she has never been open to changes I feel.......for a level I can even let go her decision about her own self and body.........but here she seems like someone who wont even accept her friends doing something that she deems as wrong........ I hope at least now Khushi will understand that just like them, even she and Arnav has limited time and she is not being fair to him.......

and her point, about not able to control and how to live later if they miss the physical aspect is something i dont agree with.......after all even now they are controlling themselves, right ?........ and what if they are not physical before they separate for his education, will she not miss him more ? Is it only the physical part that she is concerned about ? and wont miss his presence around her later on ??

You raised a very good point with Khushi. I will try to fix that accordingly in the next chapter. Thanks for the input. But, the thing is just that, when you are in a relationship, then the one that is more confident about their relation and willing to go more forward are not as affected as the ones who are hesitant. Its basic psychology of nature. The ones that are scared, will always have a reason. So will the ones who don't fear. They both fear something, the same thing actually. they both fear for the time they will be apart. And both of them want to approach is differently.

physical and emotional are always related. Be it in a subtle way, but they are. you cant separate them. As for someone who was always thought from their heart, Khushi, to be able to think from her phsycial self is a big step. She was been a reserved girl. Constantly fixing her duppata. Right? Meaning she is one who holds more traditional views that normal. They both fear the same thing. Being way from each other. How they both want to deal with it, is different. Remember I highlighted the trust issues and if their relationship was strong enough for that. This is the time for it to build. I will let them do live in. But, with the aim of making them become stronger as one, rather than physically as one. I don't want to say much without giving it away.

Chapter 83

Minta put her mug down, and gave khushia hug. Khushi just cried while resting her head on Mintas shoulder. After a few moments, they heard a knock on the door. Minta went toget the door while khushi wiped her tears away.

Tom: Hey beautiful, we thought thatmaybe you guys would like to have some coffee.

Minta: We? I just see you... Where isyour other half, and khushis better half?

Tom pointed towards the hallway and sawArnav walking down towards their dorm. He had a tray of theircoffees in his hands.

Tom whispered to Minta,

Tom: he feels guilty for lying to herabout us being married. He cant take it, he needs to talk to her.

Minta started to laugh. Tom looked ather with a raised eyebrow.

Minta: Khushi already knew that he waslying from before.. She told me herself, i didnt tell her anything. Appearently Juliet knows Romeo better than any of us. Dont tell himthat she knows he lied.

Tom just laughed. Arnav walked up tothem and asked why they were laughing. Tom and Minta just noddedtheir heads. Arnav cleared his throat and looked at Minta.

Arnav: Is khushi there? How is hermood. I need to tell her. I Cant take it for lying to her,especially about something this big.

Minta just smiled and sighed.

Minta: You know what I dontunderstand. Why lie? I mean, you could have just said that YOUwanted to stay with her. I am sure she would have understood. Youjust had to explain it to her. Arnav, she loves you. Really reallyloves you. Trust me on that! And she really UNDERSTANDS you or KNOWSyou more than you think.

Arnav was a little confused as to whatMinta was trying to get at. Minta moved back and allowed for them tocome in. Arnav saw khushi walking out of the bathroom. Her eyeswere a bit swollen, meaning she was crying. Why was she cryingthough? He looked at minta and whispered to her.

Arnav: Did you tell khushi???

Minta: I didnt tell khushi anything. I swear!

Arnav sighed of relief. He wanted tobe the one to confess to her, maybe she would forgive him then.

Arnav: Then why was she crying, nervousabout this new situation?

Minta: Maybe you should just talk toher about it and not me. But, Arnav, ... nothing. Never mind.

Khushi walked up to them. She sawArnav and tried to give an authentic smile. Arnav smiled back andpassed her a cup. She politely shook her head.

Khushi: I just had a cup of tea withMinta.

Minta: True, but I dont mind takinganother cup of caffiene. Look at all this work that needs to getdone.

Minta pointed towards the entire dorm,the extremely messy dorm.

Tom: How much stuff do you have?

Khushi: This is just the beginning,you should see inside her room.

Everyone laughed. Khushi made her wayto the living room floor area and started to help pack a box. Arnavwalked up and sat beside her. Tom and minta went to the other sideand started to pack from there.

Arnav: How are you going to take allof this back after three weeks?

Minta: I am not, umm. Tom is startinghis Masters and I will do some summer courses to fast track. So itsmore of a permanent kind of thing for us.

Tom: I already spoke to the housingcommittee, they said that We can stay in the same dorm throughout. So it shouldn't be an issue.

Khushi just kept on queitly working.Everyone else would talk, smile and enjoy making fun of Mintas stuff. Arnav noticed this. He needed to talk to her. He needed toconfess. He just couldn't take it anymore.

Arnav: You know what, The only way thisamount of stuff will come out is if I start to get some of my stuffout. It might be a little easier that way. What do you guys think?

Every nodded and agreed with him, whilekhushi still kept on working. She needed time to process everything. Arnav got up and cleared his throat.

Arnav: Hey khushi, can you help me withmy stuff please. Tom can help minta with hers.

Khushi looked up and smiled. He letout his hand to help her up. She gently placed her hand into his andstood up. Arnav held onto her hand a little tighter as she stood up. He then intertwined their fingers. She didnt move her hand back andfollowed him towards the door.

He opened the door and they started togo outside. Arnav was silent. This was the time he had to confessto khushi. She knew and understood his silence. She could feel theuneasiness in his heart. They way he was holding onto her hand justgave her the message that he was nervous, somewhat scared. Shesmiled, yes she was a bit hurt, a bit upset. But after speaking toMinta and crying it out she did feel much better. Before she couldtalk to him about this, she needed to make him feel a bit more eased.

Khushi: Ummm. Arnav.. Can we go andwalk outside for a bit. Needed some fresh air. Then go to do yourpacking?

They both looked at each other and gavea soft smile. He nodded. They walked outside. It was lateevening time, and the slight spring winds in March started to pickup. Khushi sighed. She brought her other hand over and wrapped itaround his biceps. She slowly rested her head against his shoulder. They walked even slower than before. She needed to be close to him. She needed close to him, and he needed to be close to her. They bothneeded to get a control over their thoughts before they could talk. They walked to their usual yoga area. Not many people were out,since many students had midterms, assignments and studying forfinals. They both silently kept on slowly walking outside. Arnavplaced his other hand into his pocket. He looked down while walkingand she just looked forward while resting her head on his shoulder. They started to walk between the trees and forest area. It seemedpeaceful. After a little while khushi quietly spoke.

Khushi: Arnav...

Arnav: hmmm.

Khushi: voh.. can.. you... voh...umm.. can you please hold me tightly. Please. He stopped and lookedat her. She just asked him to tightly hug her, meaning she wasworried about something. But what. She let got of her hands thatwere holding his arm and they both turned towards each other. Sheplaced her hands on his chest, turned her head and placed her earnear his heart. He wrapped his arms around her.

Khushi: Arnav, more tightly please...

He heard something in her voice, hedidnt know what exactly. He tightened his arms around her. And shescrunched his shirt into her hands. They stayed like that for a fewmoments. He placed a gentle kiss on her head. Arnav was about tosay something but stopped. She needed him right now, and he wasthere for her. But he also felt that he also needed to hold hertightly in his arms at the moment. His guilt was there in his heart,her pain in hers, and all that they really needed at that time was tobe in each others arms. They stayed like this for a few moments. They heard a rattle near by. They both put their heads up and lookedaround. They saw no one.

Khushi: Arnav, was someone there? Ijust heard something...

Arnav looked around and smiled. Hepointed towards the ground. A small squirrel was running across thegrass. They both smiled and sighed.

She put her head back onto his chestand wrapped her arms around him. He smiled. She sighed whilefeeling comforted while being in his arms. Yes he lied to her, andhe should not have, but just feeling his arms around her like thatmade her forget the pain. It reminded her of where she belonged andwhere her heart belonged.

Arnav: khushi. I need to tell yousomething.

She moved her head back and slowlyraised her eyes to meet his. He has guilt in his. She smiled,tilted her head and slowly raised her right hand. As he was about tosay something she put her finger on his lips. He just stared at her. She smiled and sighed. He gulped, he needed to talk to her, butwith her delicate finger on his lips like that made him freeze on thespot. They just looked deeply into each others eyes. She smiled andreassuringly blinked her eyes. He was confused. She knew?

Arnav: You know, dont you?

She nodded her head and looked down.

Arnav: Minta told you..

Khushi: No. She didnt tell me.

Arnav: Then?

Khushi placed her right hand onto hisheart again.

Khushi: Your heart told me thismorning when we were in your room.

Arnav: Then why didnt you sayanything? I ... I .. .feel.. guilty...

khushi sighed and looked up into hiseyes again.

Khushi: I didnt say anything because...I knew this is what you wanted. You must have wanted to do this verybadly, because you felt compelled to.... lie.

Arnav: I am sorry.. I .. (he lookeddown, he wasnt able to meet her eyes).

Khushi: arnav. Its ok. Yes, I amupset, or was upset that you had to lie to me. But arnav, why didyou feel the need to lie to me?

Arnav: Because.. Voh..

He stopped for a second and took a deepdeep breath. He needed to first form his thoughts and then say whatwas in his heart. He wasnt able to get the words to talk to her. Sheunderstood him and his hessitation. She remembered what he had donethis morning to her. How he took her duppata and closed her eyes withit so she could easily speak her heart. She raised her right handagain and this time she slowly slid it from the top of his foreheaddown. She gently closed his eyes and softly whispered.

Khushi: Ab bolain.. Dil main kya baathai.

Arnav sighed. She hugged him again andhe wrapped his arms around her.

Arnav: Khushi, we dont have much timeleft together. We have exams, then I have to go. For a very very... very... long time. I am afraid that where I am going, it wont beeasy. I mean, med school is not a joke. At all. I wasnt evenintending on going there . But, I knew I had to. Its just that, itis moments with you that tend to give me the courage and patiencethat I need. Remember last semester, right before our finals, weboth decided that we would focus on our exams, right. I agreed, butspending those two weeks away from you was hard. And I was alsoprepping for the MCAT exam. I used to think of you, your smile, ourmoments together. That is what kept me going. It is you that keepsme going. I know for a fact, that I will not be able to email orcall you as often when I go to med school. I dont want to waste timejust waking back and forth, I want to spend every moment I can getwith you. Just you. No one else. Because, no one else matters.

Khushi just sighed. She now understoodhis fears. She was worried about them becoming too close, whileforgetting that he was about to embark on a very difficult journeyjust for her sake. She hugged his tighter.

Arnav: I know, what I did was wrong. I shouldnt have lied, that too about something like this. Butkhushi, I didnt know what else to say, or do. I just didn't know. Marriage was the only thing on my mind, and that is why i said thatthey also got married.

Arnav now was silent. He didnt knowwhat else to say to clear his stance. But he wanted to knowsomething. If she knew, then why didnt she say anything before? Didshe agree just because he wanted it. Would she have agreed if he hadasked her directly for them to live together?

Arnav: Khushi, can I ask yousomething?

Khushi: hmm..

Arnav: I know you said that you didntwant to do this because of the family back home, and someone findingout. But, when you knew I lied, then why did you agree? Didnt thatreason still stand. I mean, you said you didnt say anything because Iwanted it. Would you have said yes, if.... If.... If I directlyasked you for us. I mean, no Tom and Minta. Just because I wantedto. Would you have said yes? Would you have given me the samereasons of parents, family, culture?

Khushi was silent. She didnt know whatto say or answer.

Khushi: Arnav, I love you. And foryour happiness, I can do anything. I mean it. Its just that when youasked me to prove my love to you by..... I wasnt able to. This wasthe way that I was able to prove it. I hope I have.

Aranv smiled.

Arnav: About that. Yeah sorry, I thinkI just became a bit emotional and demanded something that wasntright. Sorry. I know you wouldnt be comfortable and I still did that. Sorry.

Khushi: dont apologize Arnav. Youhave every right to ask and do what you did. Dont worry. I am sorrythat i wasnt able to. Its just that.. I am scared.

Aranv raised his eyebrow. She wasscared? Of what? He waited for her to continue, but she was silent.

He tried to move back, but she tightedher arms more. She didnt want to let go. She knew he wanted to seeher while talking to her right now. But, she wasnt able to look athim and talk about this. Not yet anyways. Arnav sighed. Heunderstood her hessitation.

Arnav: what were you scared of khushi. I have always wondered why you would let me... kiss you?

Khushi sighed. She had to talk to him. She had to tell him her fears. She was able to get words for herfeelings after talking to Minta, now she just had to share it withhim, the one that mattered the most. But she was afraid that if shetold him that she was scared of them becoming too close, then shewouldnt be able to handle their time apart. She would break down. She sighed, she didnt want to worry him anymore than he already was.

Khushi: Itsjust that, i have a very strong belief that somethings should be leftfor after marriage. I am not one to follow the cultural norms thatare always changing. Yes there are somethings in our culture that ido agree should be changed. Yes. For sure. But this, Arnav, i..just..i cant. Before, we were just friends. We saw each other froma different perspective. Now we are engaged, we see each otherdifferently. And when we get married that will be different. I... Ijust believe that this should be left for that time. There are manypeople is different cultures, not just ours, that wait until aftermarriage. And even you said, remember, at Niagara Falls, that .. wewont.. ... not until we are married. And if we... I mean.. what ifwe .. I am just scared sometimes Arnav. Just a little scared. Itrust you, more than I trust myself. But...

Arnavsmiled. He forgot that he loved her for who she was. Her beliefsare what made khushi, khushi. And it is khushi that he fell in lovewith.

He moved his head back and loosened hisgrip on her. She raised her head and looked at him. He slowlyopened his eyes and met hers.

Arnav: I can understand if you dontwant to go further with this moving thing. I will tell them. Dontworry.

She smiled. He gave a forceful halfsmile. Trying to hide his pain from her. But she knew him. Sheknew his heart.

Khushi brought one hand up and cuppedhis face. She smiled.

Khushi: Arnav... kya hum apna say isthoray say waqt main... ek dosray kay sath kuch yaadain banain? Hmmm..

Arnav was in shock. Did she just agreeto this? He looked at her with widened eyes.

Arnav: matlab....
