It Hindus this kind if marriage also has legality.. not just the one that is registered.. plus taking the 7 phrase and promises is the basis of hindu marriage.. i dont know if Maya is going to take those promises but if Rudra does take holding her hands then he will keep it and fulfill it too

Pheras and mantras are for proper wedding. In this type of marriage the only witness is God, they promise to be husband and wife in front of God, so everything else is optional.

Yh traditionally gandharv vivaah is what used to happen before the Hindu Marriage Act etc came in modern times. That's why I said since they are not following rituals fully maybe it's gandharv vivaah.
