I agree about emergency. I was talking about different state governments in current times. And for me, this government is emergency 2.0. The situation is exactly similar. Modi is as popular as Indira with no opposition. The way Indira was propagating hyper-nationalism and jingoism Modi is doing the same thing.

What congress did 45 years ago, Modi is doing now. And when you make comparisons you do not go back 40 years. In current scenario, BJP is much extremist and intolerant than congress.

Anyways, yes many governments do not like dissent and use their power many times but you are stil missing the point here. The extent to which Modi/Shaha has created fear in people it is no way close to any other government. When I used to post against congress/Manmohan Singh when they were in power, my dad was not this scared to tell me not to post it.

Again, I am not saying Congress is an ideal party but BJP is much worse in tolerating dissent. A person like Rahul Bjajaj and may industrialists also feel the same. So there is something wrong. And if this government is not scaring people then there is a major trust deficit and the onus is on the government to build this trust not on citizens.

Actually this is pretty much the most abused Govt and Modi is pretty much is the abused politician in India. You can pretty much call them all kinds of names and yet be safe. All Toms dicks and Harrys are calling them fascists because they know unka koi kuchh nahin ukhaad lega. If there were any genuine fascism in India each and every one would be towing the party line. Closest thing to real fascism happenned back in mid-70s to 80s where an Emergency was unleashed, people's dicks were chopped off and a genocide was committed by the ruling party in the national capital with the PM in waiting borderline justifying it.

Having said that there are still some entities that you genuinely can't criticize without being killed as Kamlesh Tiwari found out.

LOL, jab aayega tab tak ka wait karenge kya? In today's time with globalization and technology, there can not be same emergency as 1975. It will be much mild but still uncalled for and wrong..

1. Internet ban like media ban and curbing voices against government-- check

2. influential people were detained such as Ram Guha and Yogendra Yadav in CAA protest -- check

3. there was section 144 everywhere in UP means no permission to protest - check

This is what happens in an emergency. I am analyzing situations based on facts, not fear-mongering.

And yes as of now it is not severe like 1975 but there are clear early signs
