Exactly! Things had shifted monumentally for them after two instances specifically.. the time when she broke down and he saw her vulnerable followed by her interaction with her mum and then the rain sequence where she gave him strength.

I think he subconsciously believes that they have witnessed the weakest moments and had helped each other to overcome those fears.

He wants to be her person and the fact that there’s someone else who might witness that vulnerable side of hers is very bothersome to him.
