I said this in a post before. Even if he was leaving can he say that on social media?
He was always meant to be a temporary character so he'll leave soon enough. After Rajat, no more permanent characters are being kept on I'm raabta. Think of it this way, Atul was a MAJOR character in the story and the show, left after 5 mons. This Bapji's role is also pretty much done. I think there is some sort of MAJOR story changing, OMG big reveal tied to his character, lots of unanswered questions and confusion of intent surrounding him. So that's why he's trying to tell everyone that he's not leaving and misguide them.
