I'm going to rant today. A farewell vent-it-out.😆
Firstly, I'm glad KSG is out of this mess. I love that man to bits. Fell in love with him when I was in class six and saw him on my screen as Dr. Armaan Malik and I don't think I will ever love another actor on tv the same way. There's always that one person you're more attached to. As a fan, I got to see him do less roles, but some really prominent ones with solid writing. Both Armaan and Asad were brilliant characters and KSG played the roles exceptionally. But then, an extremely solid character brings out the actor's A game too.
Fast forward to his entry in KZK. To say I was excited will be an understatement. I absolutely HATED KZK at that point. I was a HUGE HUGE Parth/Manik fan so I did try to watch the show for him in the beginning but I just couldn't STAND IT! Literally couldn't do it. And then KSG came back as Rishab m'fing Bajaj! RB has literally been one of my most favorite characters on ITV ever! I don't think anyone could've ever come close to Ronit's portrayal of it plus Ronit's RB. YOU cannot improve perfection but I was so excited because KSG was going to nail this!
Now here is why GOOD STORYTELLING WORKS! A N T I C I P A T I O N. Your audience STICKS to a show for anticipation. Everyone is anticipating something. I'm sorry for drawing comparisons to S1 but I need to make my point.
When Bajaj entered the show in S1, his and Prerna's marriage had a full arc for the audiences. Bajaj was a literal wall of stone. A complete asshole to Prerna and overall. He was absolutely unapologetic about who he was and he didn't give two hoots about Prerna's plights as Anurag's lover at that point. Add to that his children hated Prerna and then there was Kukki. The anticipation was pretty simple: watch the MIGHTY fall. He was so poised, so arrogant, so callous, you wanted to watch the impossible. Him falling in love. Plus making his children fall for her, handling the Bajaj family dynamics and the angst btw AP where they both knew the truth, that MADE FOR STELLAR STORYTELLING! All of it substance!
OVER HERE. People are so quick to call Bajaj out for whatever problem they have with the show and whenever they're looking for a scapegoat. Bajaj did this, Bajaj took the trps down, Bajaj that...EXCEPT ANURAG PRERNA GOT MORE SCREENTIME TOGETHER THAN BAJAJ DID EVERY FRIGGIN WEEK!
When he entered the show, we literally just had glimpses of him in the first 3 weeks. A scene here, a scene there. AND WE MADE DO. We never saw the *BUSINESS SHARK* in his element ruining the basus in the boardroom! We got pieces and morsels. That lead to Bajaj Prerna scene where WITHOUT ANY PRIOR MEETING OR PROPER BUILDUP he asked her to marry him. STILL FINE! But then they got married and WHAT DID WE GET? LITERALLY WHAT? The PreRish marriage was a high point in the show but what happens after that?
SWISS TRACK! Without any high points post the marriage with families and everything. FINE. SWISS WAS A COMPLETE FILLER! We hardly had much of Bajaj and whatever we had of Bajaj x Prerish was EXTREMELY MONOTONOUS. WE didn't get a single scene where they discussed their marriage situation, where their characteristics came to play, where they talked or had a fight except body soul Anurag. THAT'S IT.
AGAIN FINE. We waited for SWISS TO BE OVER! AND THEN WHAT HAPPENS? THE EK CHHAT TRACK IS FORCED ON US! This whole track, LITERALLY THE WHOLE TRACK didn't give the viewers anything to anticipate. There was ZERO buildup for Prerish. What should've viewers looked forward to? The mighty coming down? They'd literally softened him to an unbearable point by the time he told her of Kukki. His family theatrics? Maasi and Tanvi were comical. What did we get of Prerish? Literally a scene here a scene there, NO PROPER BUILDUP. Even if they talked it was about Anurag. To think of EVERYTHING WE'VE GOTTEN WITH THAT BUILDUP. What Mr. Bajaj hates. What Prerna hates. Proper arguments and then trying to patch up. Difference of opinions. WHAT NOT. THERE WAS NO PRERISH. Every AP, ANURAG, BAJAJ X ANURAG SCENE WAS LITERALLY THE SAME *PRERNA IS MY SOULMATE, MINE, I'LL GET HER* Nothing else! Day after day, week after week, why should ANYONE WATCH?
Prerna didn't have to fall for him. But they could've shown a proper transition from hatred to friendship. But there was NOTHING. THEY GOT ZERO MEAT! LITERALLY ZERO! And yet people started falling in love with them.
Nothing got explored. Bajaj x Moloy. Bajaj's past. Them talking out their differences. Bajaj's proper arc. Nothing. So why put the ONUS of THIS SHIT on Bajaj? KSG did what he could with whatever meat he got. AND THERE WASN'T A LOT TO GO AROUND.
KZK CVs did a kachra of EVERY SINGLE STORYLINE THEY DESERVED! OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTER'S ARC! And they can go F themselves.
