That's depends on contracts.

That's the benefit of digital platforms. Akshay will earn 90 cr one time from Prime but people will stream those webseries even after 50 years. Prime will earn even though the show may flop initially. Same with Sacred Games, it will be a cult show, people will stream it like we watch old movies or series. But I don't think Saif or Nawaz will be financially benefited. There's a lot of scope in digital platforms.

What is wrong with common sense and logic?

Common sense tells you not to cast an actor who can't dance for dancing sequences. Common sense tells you not to cast 20+ actresses for roles that should be played by 60+ actresses. Logic tells you that a character who gets stalked and harassed by a weirdo will not want to marry that weirdo. Let's not fool ourselves: no one expects great cinema from BW, of all places. We should expect a modicum of common sense and logic as regards the script, casting process, and the technical aspects of the scenes and sequences.

Common Sense and Logic isn't gifted to everyone. Not everyone cares about how a movie is made, for them whatever in the screen makes them entertained and engaged matters the most. Calling that section of audience, the majority ones are them only, intellectually challenged is unfair and being harsh on people for whom movie is just a form of entertainment.

Yes you can criticize the makers and every one involved for better common sense and logic, but why insult audiences, majority of whom aren't really into all these stuff, by calling them intellectually challenged, just because they don't mind mediocre stuffs.

That is exactly what "intellectually challenged" - you know, the kind of quality BW filmmakers count on when peddling their crap - implies: that people will accept the dumbest crap. Let's not play the faux indignation game here. And I haven't even suggested masala entertainers have to be badly written and utterly devoid of logic (because they don't) - you did.

people don't accept every dumbest shit if it doesn't entertain them we all saw what happened with TOH, Race3, Kalank and Zero. Entertainment is the biggest factor and it will always remain so.

Jen runs on the popularity of the uber successful Friends, so her case is not typical. Social media or not, what is really worrying in BW is the lack of meaningful roles for 40+, 50+ actresses. In Hollywood talented middle-aged ladies are thriving. In Bollywood they seem to be ignored. Someone of Madhuri's stature and talent should be busy acting most of the time. Instead, films are made in which twenty-somethings pretend they can act and dance, and are "lucky" to get flower pot roles and the "privilege" of being denigrated by the likes of Kabir Singh and look oh-so sexy (obnoxious nepokids aren't even capable of that). What an achievement for the fairer sex. *sarcasm*

Of course, nothing will change in that regard until the narrow-minded mentality of cowardly, mediocre producers and Indian audiences changes. But from where are they supposed to get their dose of good taste? Dharma? Salmonella? Don't make me laugh.

Hollywood are not into song and dance.Madhuri churned out mediocrity and songs with double meaning entendres.

Why should there be any logic/intellect in entertainment ?

Audience is paying for it , they can spend their hard earned money on whichever movie they bloody well please .. Audience does not owe anything to anybody , least of all to the online pseudo intellectuals ..

For that matter , audience accepts only "entertaining" movies irrespective of the genre .. Failure of the so called big budget masala films and success of the content driven entertaining films is proof enough of that .. As long as , it is entertaining , it works .. Not sure if you noticed but FRIENDS was/is HIGHLY ENTERTAINING .. Perhaps the filmmakers are too scared to experiment on a big scale (the digital platform might just change that ).. So credit blame where its due instead of going berserk on the "backward audience" ..

Indeed, why? If there shouldn't be, why do people even comment on forums like this, why do they dare to complain about films? LMAO

It doesn't take a "pseudointellectual" "going berserk" (LMAO, talk about overstatement) to see that BW knows it can still afford to be lazy and release mediocre products, and be light years behind Hollywood. "Content is everything" sounds great on paper, but how many BW films in the past few years were really that good content wise? The flopping of the likes of ToH or Kalank does sound promising and, hopefully, streaming platforms will enforce true change, but it will take time: for both the creatives and the audiences.

She is not that great, I don’t think she’s comparable to the likes of Madhuri based on acting skills alone. Only got lucky cuz of that overrated Friends show.

And can we please stop hailing Hollywood as the benchmark of quality? The Joker is the only decent film they produced recently.

Her dances were super popular but so was her acting. Just bcoz she is a great dancer one cannot undermine her acting. Watch beta, mrityudand, lajja, pukar..even if u watch her regular masala movies u can see her shine..she is the queen of expressions..never under or over..always perfect

How many good films were there in HW content wise in the last few years? Almost all I have seen rode majorly on special effects..take that out and there is hardly any soul. It is our mentality that hails everything foreign.

Just to name few BW films..Raazi, Gully boy, badhai ho, andhadhun, stree, sanju ( whitewashed but still well crafted) , tumbadd (different movie..loved it), Hindi medium, Newton, padman, Neerja, Dangal, secret super star, sui dhaga, October, tumhari Sulu, Piku, pari, Parmanu, 102 not out, Satyamev Jayate..all these apart from masala entertainers
