I think more than just money, any woman who wants more from life. They end up being very scheming and sly to get things that aren't always unreasonable.

I think he likes the sacrificing, mild-tempered, 'perfect' women. And I don't dislike them but sometimes it's nice to have a little dimension to the character

Could it possibly be a parody of that genre of film? Cross-border love stories always have that very dramatic feel to them even if they're not awful films.
