I usually don't remember to do PMs, but I'll try to remember!

I wasn't actually going to update today, this was going to be up on Friday night/Saturday morning but today's episode gave me the inspiration I was lacking for the past week so yayayyyy🥳 Kal ka episode aur bhi better hone wala hai (I hope so) and I was already so excited that I sat and completed this chapter! Hehe you're welcome ❤️

Enjoy! Hope you like this update, it's a little plus on info (I googled all laws so please correct me if I'm wrong anywhere) and less on PreRish but it's important for them as parents.

Chapter 7

Has he no shame?

How could he?

After whatever I said last night, he has the gall to bring his...lady friend...here?

In front of me?

Prerna seethed as she saw him talking to the Manager, looking for their seat. That Ayesha was whispering something in his ear and he...what the hell, he smiled?

"That's it." She took a deep breath and stood up but they were already walking towards her.

"Ms Sharma." Rishabh said and could feel the rage from her eyes seep into his bones. He shuddered.

She moved her gaze towards Ayesha, who was smiling at her so sweetly as if Prerna had not threatened to grab her by her throat and drag through whatever last night.

"Nice to see you again, Prerna." Ayesha said and he could see his ex-wife fisting her palms.

"Shut up. And leave. You're not needed here-

"And that's where you are wrong!" Ayesha chuckled and took a seat. Her game was going to be over in less than five minutes once Rishabh told Prerna why exactly was she here, so she decided to live in the moment. "This meeting can't be a success if I'm not here."

"You're sadly mistaken, Ms Ayesha whatever." Prerna sat down as Rishabh and Mr Mehra looked at each other with an exasperated look. "Your presence doesn't matter nor is it needed."

"Really? But I know better. The idea you shared with Rishabh yesterday, that's quite foolproof and it will only be successful if I'm here." She shrugged. "Without me, he won't get Sneha's custody so easily."

"That is not true, right Mr Mehra?" Prerna looked straight at the lawyer as he gulped. He had no idea what was going on.

" Actually Ma'am, Ayesha Ji is very important in this case-

"Oh come on!" She shouted and stood up. "Mr Bajaj, a word?"

She quipped and walked away, making Ayesha laugh. Rishabh glared at his friend before following his ex-wife outside to the restaurant's backyard.

"Prerna, what is this meeting abou-

"Mr Bajaj, you know the answer-

"You are being insane!" He raised his voice a bit, surprising her. "You are getting carried away by emotions. The way you announced that you won't be getting married, in front of Mr Basu was so disrespectful towards his feelings-

"Wow, so you are respecting his feelings now? And what about my feelings? Can't you see? I care about Kuki and I care about yo-

"Please." He sighed, not wanting to hear her next words. He hated false hopes. "Let's finish this meeting, Ayesha has to-

"One second." She stopped him as she remembered the actual reason she had walked out. "Why the hell is she here? Are you seriously going to marry a woman you just met-

"I met her in college-

"Does not matter! She is still a random woman-

"Wait a minute." He frowned. "Who told you I was marrying her?"

"Well, I gave you the marriage idea and you agreed to it." She sounded exasperated. "Next thing I know, you are parading into a huge, public event with a stranger woman who has a rock on her ring finger and is calling Kuki Snehu-

"Prerna." He held her flailing arms and she looked alarmed. "Snehu is Ayesha's daughter, Snehal. The ring she is wearing is her engagement ring with her fiance, Ashish Advani. She came to the party with me because she was bored at home. And she is here, in the city, because she is my Child Custody Lawyer."

"Huh?" Prerna blinked her eyes as she heard his words again and again in her head.

Snehal, Ayesha's daughter.

Ashish, Ayesha's fiance.

Ayesha, Child Custody Lawyer.

"So...you are not...marrying her-

"Not at all." He said and almost chuckled at the relief on her face. With a sudden gasp he realized, she was jealous.

Was Ayesha right last night? Was Prerna really possessive about him, not as Sneha's father but as...as what?

"Okay." She nodded, her face red with embarrassment. "I suppose I need to...apologize to her."

"Don't bother, she was really enjoying this." He said and shook her head, rushing inside.

Ayesha and Mr Mehra were deep into a discussion with cold coffees and croissants when Prerna joined them, followed by Rishabh. Ayesha looked at her face and chuckled.

"Seems like Rishabh told you. Don't feel bad." She smiled and Prerna gulped. God she felt flustered and ashamed, acting like a teenager.

"I am so sorry." She sighed and sat down.

"Apology accepted. Let's start, we have a lot to discuss." Ayesha nodded as Rishabh took a seat as well. "Okay. Prerna, I listened to your proposal and let me tell you, it is...not bad. But there is no need to rush like this with such important decisions."

"Hmm." Prerna hummed, not really liking the way this conversation was going already.

"See, in child custody cases, usually the mother gets the custody. But." She opened a file. "Because Menka left Sneha while she was three months old, without any valid reason and did not fight for her custody then, we can tell the court that she is unfit to be Sneha's custodian as she neglected her child"

Prerna looked at Rishabh, who was just nodding. She had no idea that Menka had left Sneha so soon, leaving Rishabh to raise a little baby all on his own, alone. A rage filled her heart and she, absent mindedly, slipped her hand into his, telling him, I am here. He looked at her with surprise but she was already gesturing Ayesha to continue.

"We know that Menka is here for the money but the court does not, so she may go for Joint Custody or Sole Custody." Ayesha explained. "As she is wealthy herself, the topic of Child Support may not be brought up by the court. I doubt she will bring that up herself as that may sound suspicious. She knows that Rishabh will pay his part, irrespective of the court's decision."

"So how can we...I mean-

"We are in luck. Girls above the age of 5 are mostly given custody to the father and luckily, Sneha is 5 years and 4 months. The court will want to know of her preference, Rishabh or Menka. If Menka impresses Sneha, which is easy given that she is a kid, she may take Menka's name in the court. As custody battles can be lengthy, Menka will take every chance to be around Kukki to impress her for as long as possible. Slim chance but we can't take it." Ayesha closed the file. "But we have a strong case already. Menka neglected her daughter for 5 years and 1 month. Rishabh took care of her. He is financially dependent. So now that we have this information, we have to wait to hear what Menka has to say."

"So what you are saying is that." Mr Mehra said, looking at Ayesha. "Ms Prerna won't have to marry Sir?"

"Exactly. That's what I am saying." Ayesha sighed as she saw Prerna's expression drop immediately. There was a relief on her face as a mother but she observed her squirm in her seat. Ayesha was a lawyer, expert in reading body language withing seconds; clearly, this woman was not happy with the conclusion of this meeting.

Ayesha hated that Rishabh was making her do this. Last night, even after seeing Prerna's furious reaction, he believed that it was all for Sneha and not specifically him. As soon as they had reached home he had announced that Prerna won't be sacrificing anymore for any Bajaj. As a friend, Ayesha hated to do this but as a lawyer, she had to choose the road of logic and fact.

"So Prerna." Ayesha smiled and Prerna smiled back, albeit it was a very weak and fake smile. "Congratulations, your marriage is back on! Please call Mr Anurag and tell him the good news!"

The fake smile slipped from Prerna's face and she looked at Rishabh, who was looking everywhere but at her.

But today she behave mature, as a mother but we are excited to see Envious Prerna, Possessive Prerna..and Tigresses Prerna..

So case is on safe side for now, so she will definitely have to find another reason to marry him... or to claim him as hers!
