I'm inclined to agree - I think they meant it when they decided to show multifaceted women on ITV. We've seen such well written and different women in this show, their motivations, vulnerability, desires. It would make sense that now they are choosing to show a side of Babita that has always existed but just under the surface.
Just because we've rooted for Babita's journey, doesn't mean we always have to like her. There have been times I haven't liked Minnie either, but she's had incredible growth and maturity, but right now it's obvious that it's been at the expense of her own youth.
True, and it also makes sense when you think about the PH's tweet about not turning women into goddesses and letting their flaws show and be accepted as normal.
Frankly, most of MInnie's growth has come since she came into contact with HS, his world, and his inner circle of NB and Lala. Minnie has blossomed and become so much more open minded than before. I hope she continues to learn and grow, and her conversation with NB gave me hope that this wise woman will continue to guide her even if no one else will. Minnie got positive male role models in HS and Lala, and she now needs a very strong female role model to counterbalance what she's missing from Babita. I can't think of anyone better than NB to play that role, really.

I'm glad you agree that Babita and Minnie's relationship is toxic, because it is. I watch this show with my own mother and in the past few weeks we've routinely paused and just had to discuss how wrong so many equations of Babita and Minnie's relationship is. Since the wedding different characters have been hammering Minnie with the very real fact that she has her own wajoodh, that she EXISTS as someone outside of her mother. And the words have started to take shape and effect her, she's taking a step back in many ways. But her need to protect her mother needs to take a back seat too. HS would never intentionally hurt Babita and Minnie knows it, but it seems she's no longer certain about her own mother's anything.
HS today was speaking not only from his own frustrations but from Minnie's as well. As always he seems to be the only one on her side.
I have always felt that their relationship was toxic but now the toxicity and the reasons for it is coming to light. HS had pointed that out to Babita in many ways in many situations but she refused to listen or do something about it. Yes, Minnie getting nudged by various people regarding her own identity, especially from people she respects and trusts, has gotten her thinking about herself. It's slow but at least it has started and she is observing a lot of things around her that I hope will lead to her conclusion that she does really need her emotional and maybe even physical space from Babita. She should also not feel guilty for '"leaving Babia" and chasing her dreams and following her own path. Just because she won't hold Babita's hand every second doesn't mean she would stop supporting or loving her mother.
If this continues, her resentment towards Babita will continue to build up and then she will end up having an outburst like Babita did on her wedding. The words that will come out will hurt Babita and Minnie a lot, creating a chasm between them. I hope by then HS and Minnie patch up because she is going to need him more than ever to bridge the gap with her mother. Wouldn't that just be ironic?
Today hearing even HS say that in the middle of the argument, despite their awkwardness with each other, made Minnie realize even more that she needs to break free. Perhaps she hasn't articulated her thoughts or taken the time to consider everything, but I remember her writing in her diary that no one actually 'saw' her. I think she has realized that HS does indeed see her, which prompted her to sa she trusts in his goodness, but her mother isn't there yet. Minnie has her exams and instead of focusing on her studies, which Babita was so adamant that she complete, she is now at risk of failing or scoring poorly in her exams. What a shame!
In the pre-cap Minnie asks HS to talk to her mother directly. In a way, she's trying to get both of them to stop using her as a messenger anymore and to communicate with each other openly.
